Some of these hunt stories are getting ridiculous haha. We need a few 'best of' Amiibo thirst/hunt quotes and put them in the bottom of the first post. Congrats, looks great!

Im thinking the best strategy (assuming money isnt an issue) for these amiibos to do a pre-order online and a backup for any possible rares in-store.

For instance: On wave 2, I pre-ordered all on best buy then did Lil mac/Diddy/Falcon at gamestop.

For wave 3, I've doubled up on any exclusives and split pre-orders for Ike, Mega man, Sonic, and possibly DeDeDe. Got ike pre-ordered on bestbuy.com for shipping and in my local gamestop (One where I trust the guys not to get...greedy lol)

All commons such as Zelda and Luigi will be pre-ordered at Best buy (GCU ftw) without backup. This way, I got double coverage on all rares and assuming I get both, I can simply sell on ebay and recoup any money. I also do my part for the amiibo community by not buying 10+ and screwing other amiibro's over but I also have complete coverage.

I had the same problem. Ended up just getting Pit from amazon.ca. Shipping price was actually the same anyway, and I'm in no rush except to get one before it sells out.

Sorry to deprive you of another Pit, Canada.
 
manage to lock down captain falcon/pitt/dede just need little mac and im done the collection....damn you amiibos.

also fuck the massive selection of kirby...it's like KIRBY is always there smiling at your failures of finding anything else but Zelda/Mario/Kirby and the sudden massive influx of Zelda.
 
For those with best buy problems is that pre ordering in store? I have all of wave 3 pre ordered from the website to ship straight to me. I should be safe then right? Seems the current problem! Is them selling pre orders and not holding them?
 
So which Amiibos have you guys never seen sold out at every store?

I think it's Mario, Pikachu and Peachj (maybe DK too but can't remember). Some stores ran out of Links.
 
Mario and Pikachu are numerous everywhere. I've seen a ton of Kirby and Peach too. Yoshi/DK/Fox have been hit and miss. Tons of Zelda in Wave 2 as well at least in the two places I visited on Friday.

Not counting possible wave 2's that might have snuck on the shelf.
In my area all of the Wave 1 amiibos are readily available. Link is definitley the most popular though in my area. Samus has two rows though at my walmart and I swear not one of them has moved.

I'm asking since I might ask my gf to get me a Mario, I got most of the ones I want but I guess I got wanted someone to give me Mario so it would be special. He looks cool even for plain 'ol Mario. I don't think it's possible for Mario to sell out haha. I think Yoshi would be the backup, I shouldn't have gotten all the ones I wanted since I can't ask people for any. :p
 
Since Zelda is, by all accounts, so plentiful, I wonder why she is the only one of my TRU wave 2 preorder that didn't ship out. I got Mac and Diddy this morning, but no Zelda... She's still listed as "located in warehouse" on my order screen.

I would not recommend shipping to store. I got screwed out of getting a Marth since Nintendo failed to ship any to most stores in Mass and Conn. Shipping to home is safer.
 
Best Buy ship to home is a safe bet if you want them for use and not collection. They ship poorly and chances are the box will get a little beat up. But ship to store you run the risk of them just not getting it for whatever reason.

I'm fine not getting it right on release just as long as I know I'll get it. I'll stick with shipped to my house. I like getting them from ten bucks but tempted to move my wave 3 pre orders to GameStop I don't know. This whole situation is stupid.
 
I really wish these had their own game something like Skylanders. I realize they're apparently selling well for now but imagine if there was a good game to go along with them. They'd all be flying off shelves.

As it is I'm buying them all now anyway and probably just going to end up wasting a lot of money but we'll see I guess.

Damn, you guys are making me panic over Link and Fox. My stores are full of Link so I've been sitting on that, but they've been almost out of Fox all over town the last day. I think I gotta move on both tomorrow.

I'll be really surprised if we don't get a game like that announced at e3.

At the absolute minimum I expect an Animal Crossing U with extensive amiibo-based content, both with its own figures and with smash figures.

Ok guys, I made a few updates for today, added Amazon and the lowest price they have.

Tomorrow I'll be off to all the stores to try and score me a few more of the little guys and update accordingly, if anyone else has info, noticed something that is wrong or wants to give their opinion in how available/rare they are, you are welcome to do so! It helps a lot!

Keep going friends, hunting amiibos is part of the fun!

Edit: Also, someone suggest me to add some kind of code so we can ask for them and they are easier to find, what was the name of those codes again? If someone has them available please let me know to add them to the list.
 
So, this may be dumb to ask but did Lucario already come and go as far as being up for sale? There aren't any toysrus around here and I'd rather have it sent than drive an hour or more. But I need all these fucking things...Man this is a really bad addiction.

Yep, twice now. Whether or not it goes up a third time is anyone's guess.
 
Gah, I'm getting kind of nervous about getting captain falcon. I've preordered and locked down all the ones I want so far except him (was presold out everywhere). I haven't been able to find Diddy or Mack anywhere in my area and I know I missed them because those places have tons of Zelda still. I just hope I can make it to the stores in time on the 30th. Come on Nintendo! Some of us have jobs we need to maintain!
maybe they won't notice if I sneak out for a bit...

It doesn't actually release til february. The toys r us preorder link has sold out twice already. Maybe preorders will reopen a second time?
 
Hearing rumours Nintendo Australia might not even bother with Wave 3 down here. I'll be so fucking pissed if that's the case. Might as well sell up my full set 1 and 2 then.

Really? Have you got a source? I'm in NZ and will be seriously pissed off if this is true. Don't they like money? They're flying off the shelves here.

Where've you heard this? Doesn't make sense to me, shelves are almost always sold out.

EB has them for preorder but I doubt that means much.
 
I'll wait for some more concrete sources before I start jumping to conclusions.

I doubt they would pull out as they are selling very well and EB still has all of them available for preorder.

Based on what? They're selling out just about everywhere where I am (Adelaide). I went looking today at like ten different stores and only saw a few Mario's and Pikachus. It wouldn't make sense for them to not do Wave 3, surely?

I believe the new wave 2 Amiibo are going to be in their weekly ad coming out tomorrow, so they probably want to have some actually in stock. Once they learned they wouldn't be receiving enough figures from Nintendo to fulfill preorders AND put some out on the floor, they delayed all preorders until the second shipment comes in.

I called my local Best Buy to ask about the disrepency between the release date and my preorder pick-up date, and the manager offered to look into it. Called me back a half hour later and told me to come in tomorrow and they'd take care of me. This if for Zelda and Diddy only, though; for whatever reason, it sounds like this Best Buy really isn't getting Little Mac until 12/19.

Checked yesterday and my store only had 1 mac in a shipment! Mac is the new marth..im 100% certain on that.

Are we at the point where people will hear arbitrary rumors and start waves of panic?
 
It's actually kinda perplexing how Nintendo are handling the whole thing with stock. I understand some figures are more popular than others, but they're probably not gonna produce new variants of existing characters for a while yet, so they might as well keep making stock of every character until they stop selling. Better yet, have every released figure available for online order, so they can produce and stock what they need at any time on demand. You'd think online retailing would be a godsend for this sort of thing.
