Best Buy Canada is implying that there are going to be even more exclusives :/

I believe the new wave their talking about is still wave 3 and not wave 4, since wave 3 still does not appear on their site. Would be interesting to be proved wrong, though.

I feel so bad for you guys & exclusives in the uk & ireland all amiibo are available

Notices a strange 20 dollar transaction in my account, checked Best Buy

WooH!
No change on my Little Mac (Best Buy) pre-order yet. Still says "1 item(s) preordered, release date is 12/19/2014."

I can confirm that as of last night, Toys R Us in Cherry Hill, NJ had plenty of Zelda and Luigi in stock. I didn't see any other Wave 2 figures.

If this is true I'm just going to be done. I love collecting but fuck this, I shouldn't have to deal with hoping I can get pre-orders to get a 13 dollar toy. Why you can't just make them available everywhere is beyond me.

Maybe I'm just upset I still don't have Lucario and just barely got Rosalina.

Randomly found a Little Mac today. I guess it's a rare one? These things weren't even on my radar until a conversation a couple of days ago, I guess this is becoming a thing.

I missed Rosie and got Lucario... life's a bitch. I'm still refreshing the Target listing like a fiend.

I still believe the four exclusive figures (Lucario, Meta Knight, Rosalina and Shulk) will be more common than we think. especially Rosalina since she's one of the most popular Nintendo character right now.

With rumors of Samus/Fox/Donkey Kong being discontinued soon and by having Marth/Wii Fit Trainer/Villager already discontinued (I'm guessing Diddy Kong and Little Mac are on the way to be discontinued too), that would mean that only stores will be full of :

- Mario
- Peach
- Yoshi
- Link
- Pikachu
- Kirby (in NA at least, seems rare in Europe)
- Zelda
- Luigi

...and that's it!

It just doesn't make any sense to me. There are so many fans of other Super Smash Bros characters. People will lose interest in Amiibo if they just keep seeing Mario or Link on the shelves. They need to have more common ones, just like Skylanders and Disney Infinity.

Right now I'm wasting so much money with international shipping or even with scalpers. You know what Nintendo? I would have used that money to buy a second Link. I would have used that money to get a second Yoshi. I would have used that money to buy Bayonetta 2 or Hyrule Warriors since I didn't get the chance to play them. But nope, instead I'm wasting money and time because you don't want to make more stocks. :(

That is why I brought Little Mac from TRU yesterday. I've canceled several orders of amiibo from Best Buy. They really botched the whole pre-order thing so I went with a more reliable retailer.

Driving around this morning, I only found a single wave 2 character -- my local Best Buy had just one (EDIT: Diddy Kong) in stock. Nothing at Target or Walmart (though to be fair, Walmart lists tomorrow the 18th for all their wave 2 stuff).

Nintendo is planning on making Amiibos for more than just Smash. They'll probably eventually phase out even the Smash versions of Mario, Peach, Link, etc. in light of promoting a new Mario or Zelda title.

Yeah I know but right now is not the time to discontinue stuff. If the parents can't find the Amiibo their kids want for Christmas, they'll just buy something else. I just feel like they're losing so much money right now by now making more stocks.

Do we think the 'new' figures will have the exact same functionality as the original waves, or will, for example, Link for the Wii U Zelda unlock different things than the Smash Link?

I can see a scenario where they make a Yarn Yoshi when WW comes out with diff't unlocks from the Smash Yoshi, and I'm not sure how I feel about it! :)

I think that's still up in the air, but I imagine that a Yarn Yoshi would probably do the same thing as a Smash Yoshi. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

Then again, maybe Nintendo will release special variants that do particular things. Like a birthday hat Pikachu would create a specific birthday hat on your in-game character.

While I don't disagree with the timing, the list that you posted above is pretty darn solid in terms of recognizable characters. You could do much worse with a selection.

But it could be a way to keep the novelty in tact for something that is pretty popular. If finding any amiibo was easy, then there wouldn't much of a discussion and demand for them. Yes, Nintendo could make more money but keeping stocks fresh.. or would they really? The amiibos sell out like crazy because there is a demand and excitement for them. I think Nintendo wants to really see how the market performs with the rarity of amiibos. This is a new territory for them. They have a hot product on their ends, and they might just want to keep it that way.

The Gamecube adapter on the other hand.. get some of those out in the wild!

The characters kids want are the ones that are in stock. The phased out characters are the ones hardcore Nintendo fans and collectors want.

I'm doing that whenever possible. Case and point, I hit TRU this morning and was able to find a Luigi. When I got back to my computer, I immediately logged on to bestbuy.com and cancelled him from my preorder. If I find any others (Pit, Falcon or Little Mac) before Best Buy gets 'em, I'll do the same thing.

TRU in Charleston SC. 2 Luigis left. No Capt or Pit. There was a Fed Ex truck out front hmmmmm

A Little Mac was mixed in Skylander land.

Even preorder slips were gone

Of course it brings a lot of discussions and increase the demand for them. However, I see everyday people saying that they are out of this since it's getting ridiculous trying to get them all.

As for the Gamecube adapter, I have a sealed one that I'm not sure I'll be using. I guess I'll try to trade it for rare Amiibo. v_v

People who have had issues with Best Buy, are you doing in-store pickup?

The reason I ask is because the consistency and reliablility pre-ordering for in-store pickup in dependent entirely on the competency of your individual local Best Buy. Ordering for shipping is run by their warehouse, and it seems more consistent.

If anyone close to the Nintendo World Store could grab me a Villager and a Marth, I'd appreciate it.

Though please, not much over MSRP. You can open them even and sent them in a smaller box or something to save on shipping (to PR, same as the low continental US). :p

$35 for both through Paypal this Friday? :/

I'm glad to see restocking going on in some form. Hopefully they are going to continue restock everywhere else in the coming weeks.

Edit: Also anyone in NYC that could get me the 3, I'll pay you to pick them up for me >.> PM!

Mine were for in-store pickup. I have never had issues with any in-store pickup pre-orders until amiibo. :(

Same here, but from Amazon. Ordered Marth last week directly from Amazon, but when the box came, Link was inside. I am nervous to order another amiibo online now.

they're already up on ebay where people are selling the rosalina preorders with a dozen quantity for $70 each and stuff like that.

sounds like everyone preordered a whole stack of rosalinas and the rest of us who just wanted one got butt fucked.

They're probably using bots or whatever to place orders the second the preorder page goes live.

So here's a little glimmer of Rosalina hope that I saw on the @AskTarget Twitter. This seems to be worded a little differently from their stock response that they have been giving (adding a "while not available right now" this time):
