Amiibo Discussion Thread

Same here, but from Amazon. Ordered Marth last week directly from Amazon, but when the box came, Link was inside. I am nervous to order another amiibo online now.
Okay, that's a weird-ass coincidence... When I picked up my wave 1 pre-orders, I didn't get Marth (but got Link) and in their system, they had it the other way around. I'll bet an employee there did a switcheroo and grabbed my Marth, but who knows.

I bet that was what happened. Even more odd was that there was no packing slip.

Amazon refunded me the cost, and told me that I could keep Link - now I have two, lol

Let's how long these last.

I thought the ever-so-slight bend in my Marth's sword was bad...now mine looks perfect!

So here's a little glimmer of Rosalina hope that I saw on the @AskTarget Twitter. This seems to be worded a little differently from their stock response that they have been giving (adding a "while not available right now" this time):

Good ol SkeletorsSack asking the hard-hitting questions

Oh good, so I don't have to constantly keep checking back today. Sounds like it'll be up for at LEAST a couple days.

For those who live in the NYC area, could it be possible if someone could purchase a Villager Amiibo & ship it to me? I can pay by PayPal, & it would mean a lot to me. :(

Just swung by TRU Eastside of Orlando they had Luigi's in back and brought a few out but were behind the counter. They said they didn't know if they were supposed to sell them but let me buy one. On the shelf 1 Zelda left. He said they didn't get any Macs.

Interesting side note: Not sure if it's like this for all of you guys, but if I go to Amazon (US) and just search "amiibo" in the top main search bar, the main body of search results doesn't even include a single figure :-P I can still get to their (shrinking) supply of them, but I have to browse to them via the general categories of merchandise and such.

Freaking madness you guys/girls

EDIT: Oops, someone already figured that out last night... God, this thread moves fast.

I just really wish we could get a straight answer on the future production of "rarer" amiibos. I'd like to eventually have a full collection but I am one to do this pre ordering and day 1 hunting stuff.

Went around to a couple of stores today to see what they had. Nothing out of the ordinary sadly. Although I did notice that at Target they had empty racks set up for Diddy, Little Mac, Pit, and Captain Falcon which disappoints me if I missed the latter two.

Went to best buy today. The BB Amiibo section was terrible, a shit ton of Pikachu,Mario,Yoshi,Kirby. I had to go to customer service and ask for the Zelda and Diddy Amiibo. Best Buy not even putting Wave 2 on the shelfs, they also did't have Lil Mac. They keeping the Wave 2 amiibo in the back.

This is Best Buy with pretty much anything Wii U related on release day.

Serious question, why are you guys (and amiibo collectors in general) searching and driving to several stores for the amiibo you want (wave 2 in particular)? Why not just pre order online before hand to avoid the hassle/stress of going to multiple stores and the possiblity of not being able to secure the one you want?

Im generally curious if their is an advantage of searching through several stores vs pre ordering online. Educate/Inform me.

Can't preorder some characters anymore. Better to see what you're buying in person to avoid defects and package damage.

One advantage is that you get to see the amiibo before you buy it. That way you can get a good paint job (hopefully) and not have to deal with returns.

The big one though is that I think a lot of us severely underestimated the demand for these things. It is too late to preorder Wave 2 Amiibos like Pit or Captain Falcon, so we are stuck going to stores to find them. I'm pretty sure that a lot of people have caught on to preordering for Wave 3 though after this mess.

Probably , because you can't preorder the ones that should be out by now and even preordering, is no guarantee you'll get them.

There are supply issues with this figures, so is not as easy as just preordering or doing in-store pick up.

The only way would've been preordering months ago (and still, some didn't get ones like Marth), when there weren't any details of what they did, neither the supply issues were expected this way.

Then there's the quality as some are not well painted or have bent swords..stuff.

Some people have had their pre-orders cancelled on them due to retailers over-selling their pre-order stock or just not receiving their pre-order stock allocations at all. Some people have also had their amiibos packaged horribly (I fall into this category) and had their amiibos arrive damaged, so now they're looking for replacements.

Also, looking at amiibos in store affords you the opportunity and ability to look at multiple amiibo (depending on stock levels) to find the ones with the least amount of flaws.

...wat. This guy is a master at separating suckers from their money.

There's also 21 sold in the last 24 hours.

what an asshole,

with 28 feedback points, that definitely not a seller that does this for a living, this is a fucking scalper taking advantage of the situation.

the guy has gotten a shitton of money for nothing with those 21 sold copies.

Lol I read that. Obviously he's just lying to make people more confident in their purchase, it would be impossible for anybody to prove or disprove. I'm sure his idea of "partner" is buying them online when they come available. At least he admits he is a reseller.

Why are there people buying these Rosalina pre-orders on ebay for such high prices? We have to be strong, stand together, and only then can we put scalpers in there rightful place.

I just mainly wish the store had a LIMIT made for how many could be ordered. All assuming that all of the orders did in fact, go through.

Villager is in stock at Amazon UK, apparently.

Hmmm...sounds worryingly like ticketmaster buying their own tickets in order to sell through other channels at inflated prices.

That lack of supply bug. People are buying this shit up like if it were water during a drought.

Imma be a patient person :) The ONLY things I've paid higher prices on, were those Nintendo World exclusive games. The only things I wasn't able to in any way of pre-order or take a flight across the country to get.

I wouldn't have much of a problem if it was a power seller or an actual store. It's their job and if they see chances for profit and demand is there, then price your stock accordingly, not cool but o.k, they do this for a living. .

but it's a fucking nobody taking advantage, someone that certainly didn't get his stock from nintendo.

smh

Yeah, he definitely doesn't hide what he's all about, but if I was Target I'd be kind of pissed that someone like him was trying to attach their shady practices to my business.

I can't say that I would find that surprising.

Correct, problem being we don't know if that's the case yet. I would bet Rosalina will be a very popular character, so I don't know how short of a supply that she'll be honestly.

Realistically itd be insane at this point if they didn't get more preorders simply because theres about a month and a half until she releases. Top that off with yea, Rosalina is a mainline Mario franchise character now so I really doubt shes going to be as rare as marth or even Shulk.

Thanks for the heads up about the Nintendo World Store. Just stopped by to pick up a Villager and a Marth. Two long lines but they said they have boxes of them, so if you're in the area, I would definitely stop by.

I just don't care for scalpers, period. Even when you go to venues at PAX they are ALWAYS on the street corners being annoying and trying to buy your badges (just to struggle selling them on the last day...)

Even when I sell things I sell/auction things close to going price (if they bid higher, that's on them), because I'd rather be guaranteed the money, then sit on the product for a long time.
