Story of my life when Pit was available at Gamestop.com last week, Marth on Amazon last week, and now Villager at TRU.
Their website gets hammered that quickly?

I imagine scalpers have bots set up. I was refreshing the Villager page about every 2-5 mins since I saw he had a page come back up today.

Yeah I've been checking out TRU all morning since I saw they re-added him.
EDIT: I was finally able to add him to my cart, but now it says ship to home isn't available.
Damn, you should let us know that the page was back up.
At least I got one of the 4 villager TRU was supposed to send me, the other 3 are on shipping limbo...
funny enough, I got the one that was 4 bucks due to the 10$ off with a 35 purchase.

If there really are scalpers out there using bots to hammer websites like that, that is just not right..
I'm not sure though. The main stock seems to be out, there's no more "Add to Cart" on the main page. I couldn't add him again if I wanted, but I can't fully check out.
Screw it. I ordered a Marth and WFT from Amazon Japan and am just using BigInJapan's forwarding service. Marth and WFT came out to under $21 from Amazon. BigInJapan's forwarding service is 500 yen + delivery speed. It'll probably be $40-50 total so not bad.

Yeah I bought a Marth amiibo from eBay today. $35 free shipping from Japan. I don't mind the Japanese box, I use my amiibos in Smash anyways. Just might take 30 days on boat!

That's how it happened to me earlier. He came up, I got him into cart, he went down just like now. 30 mins or so later he came up again and I was able to nab him.
I don't know why TRU does this, but that's how I got Little Mac and Diddy last week. Seems to be continuing in the same fashion.
I did the same for Marth. Same seller, probably, that price sounds about right.

Yeah I ordered a Villager from Amazon.de but I would have ordered a second from TRU just now to trade for something I might miss later like Shulk or Rosalina.

Marth must've really bombed in Japan. Or Nintendo of America really is just inept at keeping stuff in stock. Probably the latter.
I'd be willing to bet they had the same number of units for each market. And Nintendo kind of forgot that the USA is much larger than Japan. Could be wrong though.

OK so just got off the phone with Gamestop. Said they just got a bunch of shipments in and they need an hour to sort. They can hold a Pit for me if there are any extra one's not on reserve. Doh, I should've asked them to hold any of the rare 3 just in case it gets restocked (lulz at that happening), or if they possibly restock any GC adapters (even more lulz at that).

God now that's something I actually need. I had a bunch of people over this past weekend for Smash, and NOBODY wanted the 2DS as a controller. It was like a hot potato with leprosy.

Pit started this morning off at the closest gamestop being 10 miles way. Now he is only 3.5 miles away as the stock gets updated.

This has been a successful week. Pretty sure I spent enough in time/gas that I coulda just bought them online, but it was actually fun in its own right. Managed to snag the only Pit left at Oxford Valley Mall Gamestop and used the $5 off coupon to get it for only 7.99+tax! Guy said I called literally minutes after he put it up as in stock online and that about 5 more people called as soon as I hung up. Lucked out super hard.
That's EXACTLY what this is like. And I have four perfectly good GC pads just sitting around, waiting.
Not for most, just for a handful. Many are still widely available in some form (in store or online)
What'll eventually happen after the holiday is that the majority of figures will be restocked. Two to three out of every wave won't be, and they will command dumb prices on eBay / Amazon, etc.
I seriously doubt that Luigi and Diddy Kong will continue to be hard to find. Pit and Little Mac though, probably will only have one or two shipments.
Finally feeling the burn of frustration with these things and understanding why people are bailing. Went with multiple backups for my Pit order and all have either been delayed or canceled at the last minute. Granted, some of these characters are pretty niche, but it should not be this fucking hard if you've managed to get a preorder.
If you really just want one for Smash, they're not that expensive in Japan. Pit is like $30 shipped on eBay.

Just received Diddy and Zelda; Mac should show up tomorrow. Best Buy is still processing my Pit and CF though. Still hope since it's not canceled.

My problem is that I shouldn't have to spend that if I pre-ordered the day they were first put online. If it were a matter of coming in way late, I'd be all over that, but I was in early enough to not have to pay that kind of premium. Just frustrating is all. I'll do that as a last resort.

I've decided I'm happy to get them in stores if I can, but certain figures I'm willing to pay a premium for if I use the character / like the sculpt.

Lol. I saw that too. I'm right in downtown SF. So if the Gamestop on Market gets it in, I'm heading straight there.
let me know if you see any stocks of Fox/Falcon anywhere. Those are the two I'm really looking for atm. Might pick up Link/Diddy soon though.
