My husband hates that I'm collecting these but he still got me Pikachu and Villager for Xmas so he's part of the problem
Really glad he found a Villager, he was the only rare one I really wanted. He said he had it on his desk at work and people were offering to buy it from him.
My GAF SS also got me a Diddy Kong. It was a good day for my Amiibo collection.

So Christmas day, my son has just opened smash bros and a load if amiibos. After some frustration and googling discover you can't actually play as his amiibos. Much disappointment, Will know to do more research in future. Does anyone know if you can actually control your amiibo in any of the other games?

There's little point seeing as the amiibo characters are already in the game and you can already mess with customizing the in game characters. Playing as the amiibo would be exactly the same thing. You do not play as the amiibo. You play with or against them and train them. You can pit your trained figures against friends. In other games they unlock extras. In Mario Kart they unlock costumes for the Mii racers. In Hyrule Warriors Link amiibo gives Link the Spinner weapon and the other amiibo give you random items (money, weapon versions, crafting materials. Up to 5 daily). We don't yet know what the other amiibo supported games will have in them.

I get what you mean but my kid says this is stupid and does not see the point, we just assumed they would work sort of like skylanders so he could power up his own amiibo that he could get new moves for abd use to battle me. Never mind, he will just have keep the rare ones in boxes and see what uses they have in future.
Yay, got two for Christmas. I got a Princess Zelda and a Diddy Kong. Not bad for a wishlist stating "Zelda and you pick the other one".
I really didn't expect Diddy in there. So, um, what do I name these? Haven't come up with a good name for them yet.
I think I'll look for a Pit or Captain Falcon after New Years, hopefully they'll be possible to find. They don't seem too limited here, at least. I just want ones fun to fight in smash.

Maximum spoilage from the grandparents and some from us.
I will take some more later after we (wait for it) open the boxes (RELAX) and pose them!
All the running around was well worth it. Pit is the only one that has eluded me so far.

my nieces are about that age and I admit I spent more on them than anyone else. they, like your kid, are into cool stuff so it's fun to shop for them! I bought so many pokemon things...

Of course AFTER I left GS yesterday, I got an email saying Captain Falcon is in :O The website shows it in stock too!! Guess I'll have to get it tomorrow.

Think I'll leave him boxed with my Pit since they're relatively simple figures. Also got a Link. Opened him up to look at all the fine details. LINK HAS FRIGGIN EARRINGS. THEY PUT THAT DETAIL.
Now to wait for Shulk, Megaman, Ike, and MAYBE Dedede in February! Then patiently wait to preorder three Lucinas whenever she pops up.

Gah, what's the latest on Pit? He's the only wave 2 amiibo I want that I still haven't been able to find or order anywhere. I tried adding him to my cart on GameStop.com just now and he's always removed from the cart before I can begin the checkout process.

There aren't any alt-color chase variant Amiibos are there?
Best bet for Pit is Amazon.de, shipping isn't too bad and they still have some other rare ones like Wii Fit Trainer available.

Well, It's been proven that you can take them off the package and reseal them...
...but damn, that is a pretty impressive paintjob, its too good to be factory made, I'm comparing it with mine and it looks really close.

A few other people in this thread have also shown off the state their Amiibos arrived in, and it's been basically perfect condition. That was my only worry with international shipping, so it sounds like it's a safe bet.
Little Mac isn't available there anymore though, surprisingly. Well, he is, but it's overpriced resellers. But Pit is still around.
I need to get WFT still. How long is it to get stuff from them?

Express shipping ("2 day") seems to be about a week, the longer shipping is more like 2-3 weeks.

North America yes is a pretty big mess.
I personally think it's worse here in Canada. I was screwed over with my Pit order, and it's nonsense that most of the Second Wave haven't been released, with certain exceptions.
EDIT: Since everyone else is doing it, here are my Amiibo, chillin' on top of my Nintendo Wii U. I think the Villager wants to mount Yoshi, if you know what I mean. 0_0
