Ok guys, now that im an Amiibro, I have some questions...

How many waves have been fully released in NA? I see people already have Bowser but I cant find him anywhere.

Also, does anyone know how long the Toys R Us deal lasts? (bogo 40% off)

Finally, where do you usually go to find your rare ones? I want Little Mac and Fox the most... but I also want all of the Zelda ones.

So many questions, so many dollars to be spent!

2 waves are fully released (well wave 1 was, wave 2 sort of went out... in waves). Marth/Villager/Wii Fit Trainer are now impossible to get in North America without importing or paying a lot.

Bowser isn't out yet, Sakurai (the creator) posted a picture of some amiibo on a shelf, he will release with the rest of wave 3 in February.

Little Mac has been available on/off the last week, keep your eyes peeled and maybe he'll pop back up? Fox you may want to jump on since people are having a hard time getting him (though I still find him at some stores).

I am going to goto a few stores tomorrow and look for Mac and Fox.

I told my GF about it and she just pre-ordered Sheik, Bowser and princess Zelda for me. Lol. Now shes a part of my nightmare and I feel super guilty.

And I cant believe Villager, Marth and Wii Fit trainer are the rarest. I thought it was Captain Falcon?

Waves 1 and 2 are now out.


Wave 1: Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Link, Pikachu, DK, Fox, Samus, Kirby, Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager. Those last 3 have been impossible to find pretty much since release day. I picked up my copy of Smash Wii U at 11am on release day and they were already sold out of that trio. I've never seen any of them in person. The other 9 are mostly still easy to get, but don't wait.

Wave 2: Luigi, Zelda, Diddy Kong, Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Pit. Again, the last 3 seem to be the rarer ones, but not quite as bad as the first 3 rares.

Bowser isn't out yet anywhere. He's being released in wave 3 with ten others in February. There are pictures of them floating around, but no release. You can pre-order most of them still.

You should probably pre-order any amiibos (wave 3+) you want from now on, that seems to be the best way to go. Not sure if there's a "best" place to find the rares, I just check their amazon pages often and I've gotten every one I wanted from there (again, other than the holy trinity of rares from wave 1 which are basically Bigfoot at this point).

Not sure about the Toys R Us deal, I think it's come and gone a couple times already.

So are Luigi, Zelda and Diddy not rare anymore? Seen a bunch of these three over the last couple of weeks.

Really wish I could have come across a Villager or Little Mac.
 
Was out with a friend grabbing Streetpasses today and saw Diddy Kong in a store for the first time (Target, NW Indiana). Looked a lot better than it did in pictures, so I grabbed one. They had a bunch, probably 15-20. I didn't see him anywhere else though.

I can't speak for Luigi since some stores still don't even have him released yet but Zelda and Diddy both seem to have come back in stock. Amazon currently has both which says a lot. For a little while Diddy was considered hard to find and was selling for $30 or more on ebay.

I am going to look for Fox and Little Mac tomorrow. As well as the rest from Wave 1.

What is the deal with Shulk? I know he is a GS exclusive. Has pre-order for him already come and gone? Will it re-open?

I believe Shulk pre-orders came and went. I have one on pre-order. They may re-open them though.
 
Pretty sure Shulk preorders have been around for months and months now. Before wave 1 hit stores at the latest.

I have Pit coming in from Walmart. My only concern now is Rosalina.
 
As someone who plans to pick up the new 3DS when it is released and smash. What can Amiibos do? Do I play the character I pick up and do they have unique outfits? Debating trying to pre-order and pick up Lucario just to hold on to it until I can use it. . but I don't even know what it is used for. Is it even worth it? Is there a competitive scene?

You select a name and outfit for them in the game. You don't use the character directly. Instead the Amiibo character is brought to life in Smash & you fight it/train it. You can customize their moves and whatnot. As their level and skills grow, the Amiibo character will become a more challenging opponent for you to fight with or against. Think of it is a sparring partner who will eventually kick your ass.

Whoa shulk pre-orders are disabled now. Those held out longer than a lot of the other pre-orders. I want mine :3

They're virtual pets. You set its outfit, move set, and feed it stat boosts, and can level it up in battles. You don't play as them because all the content you would assign to the toy is already stuff in the game. The alt outfits, custom moves, etc, can be assigned on-cartridge. It's nintendo's attempt at simultaneously having interactive toys for kids ("MY ACTION FIGURE CAN LITERALLY BEAT UP YOUR ACTION FIGURE!!!!" i guess is what they're going for) and having a game that people who don't want any toys still see as a full-featured product.

Wagering on people's amiibos in fights would be pretty cool, but I don't know of any such matches.

Seriously. I remember when they first announced the New 3DS in that Japanese direct way back in August people were joking that NOA would try to keep it a secret here until after Christmas.

And now here we are...

As long as there's a special edition Majora's Mask New XL though I'll be happy.

If there are amiibo of skull kid, young link, or any of the mask forms, and I fail to get them, I will wind up in jail for stabbing a scalper.
 
Apparently, my Falcon Amiibo arrived yesterday, but since I wasn't contacted since there was a gate for the apartment complex, they left a card.
I'm picking it up at the post office tomorrow.
 
I caved and just ordered Villager from Amazon Germany. Ships in 2-4 weeks though, so I suppose there's still a chance even that will get cancelled. $30 though. Sigh.
 
Amiibos are causing the seeds of resentment to rise within me. I'm like, "Did you like Kid Icarus? Dude. I played Kid Icarus when I was 6 years old. It was... not very good. But I loved it! Because I owned about 4 NES games. What I'm trying to say is, 'Give me that Pit, Motherfucker!'"
 
Any Aussies still preordering their Ike, King Dedede, Shulk and Mega Man from anywhere in particular? EB Games seems to have sold out of them for wave 3 but preordered the rest.

Thinking if it might be better to preorder them from JB HiFi (if they have them at all) or something just to secure it or try day one and go crazy finding it across Sydney come January.

Yes, a useless Amiibo menu. I even tried syncing an Amiibo up to it, nothing happened. And as of now exactly 0 games support Amiibo on 3DS. You'd think Smash would by now, hopefully they haven't forgotten about that promised 3DS support.

There is a store that supposedly has Cpt Falcon according to the website in my area. Im gonna go look tomorrow morning, and will also pick up a few while im out like Luigi, Peach, and Diddy.

Also - Does anyone know how the charge on your card works with gamestop pre-orders? Are they going to take my 30 dollars now and then send it to me? Or wait until its actually available, then charge my account?

Can any Samus amiibo owners tell me how theirs currently are right now. Less than 20 hours out of the box and my Samus Amiibo already slants to the left.

Leaning Samus does seem to be a problem for a lot of people, though. There have been some suggested fixes, mostly involving heating up her ankles (with a blow dryer or with hot water), repositioning her, then dumping cold water on her to firm her back up.
 
I just missed Falcon on Amazon. I went ahead and ordered a Mario and Luigi though. They will be my first amiibos. Looking for forward to checking them out.

I got Smash and Capt. Toad for Christmas.

I'm a little frustrated that I may never be able to get all the ones I want. I just really question Nintendos reasoning behind lmiting certain amiibos. Especially around the holidays and them being aimed at kids who generally don't have the cash to pre-order entire waves.
 
I think I'm going to hold off on buying Samus for a bit. Maybe they'll fix the leaning problem. Most of the ones I'm seeing in stores have that issue. Hard to imagine they'd ignore it.

True, but I had originally ordered Wii Fit Trainer and Rosalina pre-order in the same transaction from Amazon.de. I got worried they would hold the shipment until Rosalina shipped, and by then WFT might be sold out. So I cancelled the order and did them individually.

But I agree, if you're wanting amiibos that are out now internationally then do a multiple order.
