Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Got Toon Link and Sheik from in-store pickup at Best Buy and received an email saying TRU shipped my Lucario! I was a little worried after the delay email last night.

Everything's coming up Mzo. I'm a little concerned I didn't preorder Ike anywhere.
 
I've actually gotten really really good with Sheik this past week. She's becoming my fav character behind Shulk and Zero Suit Samus. Been using her a lot on Smash 3DS and Wii U.

I might just use her for my Community Avatar instead of the Palutena one (that one was just a joke, cuz it was a funny pic). Sheik is so bad ass, and I actually love the character.

Meta Knight as you said, looks great at a distance. Having him on my shelf is mighty impressive, the wingspan looks amazing. Up close though, eh. I don't like how his mask is so spotty, they made it look like battle damage, and the tip of his wings were made to look realistic which doesn't work. It's mainly my issues with his Smash design itself though, the actual amiibo made to reflect that design is fantastic I guess.

I will take some Shulk pics now, he's my favourite.

Yes! See, I liked Meta a lot (just got him today). But I then looked up close, and yeah. He looks great far away, but you can tell issues when you look really close.

As much as I like Sheik, I still feel there is something off like you said. Can't pin point it either. I do like her pose, and the clothes texture. So she looks fine enough at a distance. I still feel her face/hair looks strange.

EDIT: Wow, Shulk is your favorite? Fuuuck. Thats interesting. He's the one I want the most, because I started using him the most in Smash (this past month I got really really good with him).
 
Import Metaknight came in, and it was one with heavy black on the molding lines on his mask.

I really don't care, but it might be an issue with some of you.

Well fuck. If Mega Man and Sonic are Feb 20th for all regions, it's weird that Canada TRU had them. So like...where did they get their stock from? Does TRU here have them, but are just sitting on them? Don't get it.

Oh man I might want to use this avatar is someone hasn't already. Peach is and always has been my main for any game she's been in. Nothing better than beating people who underestimate her.

And she looks crazy. That's freaking awesome.

Ugh, I know. I really want those two. Hoping Mega Man won't be too hard to find, possibly coming in the same shipment as Sonic.

Think I'm gonna have to use my $25 GS gift card I was saving for the New 3DS XL and use it towards two amiibo. Budget's been taking too much of a blow lately. Wish I could sell more games like Skyward Sword w/ bonus soundtrack.
 
I can't wait to get Shulk, honestly I pre-ordered it on a whim, because I thought it would be rare and didn't want to regret missing it later. Having seen all the pics I actually really want it. EB and Nintendo need to hurry the hell up.

No kidding. She's in my main rotation and I got quite far in a community tournament using her and Kirby. It's especially nice when you pull out a turnip and you get a Bob-omb.

Hahah. I'm happy for them. But it just makes me more anxious and like WTF. How can Japan or EU not even have these yet, and randomly some stores like TRU get them in Canada.

I didn't say you're a bad guy? If you called out someone for buying five, hell yeah gj! I've been driving limit one per customer policy for a while now. Like I said befor 1 or 2 is cool, but buying 5, youd better not be scalping. If it were me buying 5 Id be explaining to everyone beforehand. I actually feel guilt for buying even two, unlike the people who buy the whole dang stock and don't care about anyone else.

If you were talking about me (missed your original post), I got 1 Rosalina per store. Went to 1 target, bought 1. Went to another Target, bought 1. Then got the other 3 on target.com

Maybe it was bad on me to order 3 on target.com, because that is some that someone else could get. But I followed all the rules. I also give away all my extras for free to people that couldn't get one. Although I can see why it would be problematic getting extras, as it deprives others from getting one. In the case of Rosie, I only got 1 per store (so anyone else in line was able to get one). Target.com had them for sale for 40 min straight. I would never ever ever buy a bunch in store. I always do 1 per, unless it's a random store that just happens to have a bunch in stock, and no one is lined up. But at most, I'll only get 2 at a time.

Just my thoughts. If I'm a super shitty for person though for that, my bad.

Buying 3 for others for a giveaway is a great thing, no question. If you didn't buy it, a scalper probably would have. I can imagine they were placing orders the entire time it was up. Just kept going and going....

I have bought a couple of extra amiibos and sold them. I make no excuses or apologies nor do I care what anybody thinks of me. Come at me gaf.

Sorry the last couple of pages have been really annoying with people saying things like resellers willl make excuses and what have you. I won't.

That being said, I am actually pretty happy stores are finally getting smart and implementing a 1-2 amiibo policy. People that buy several to sell are douches, don't care if that makes me a hypocrite or not.

Mine unfortunately has some discolouration on his hair on one side which I'm not happy about, but ignoring that he's a top quality figure, and somehow avoided the derp face a lot of other human characters have.
 
Has anyone ever thought about the fact that R.O.B. might get two different amiibos? One for EU/NA and one for JP:

all of a sudden we hear stories of walk-ins getting the amiibo with ease, then why cancel all those preorders previously?

One scalper from America ordered 100+ Rosalina from Europe. I'd imagine others ordered a ton as well. Heck I even preordered some from it and fr. Sorry but us in the US are at fault for buying so many. But then mareotehplummbber is at fault for scaring us into thinking he bought 100+. Then again, NoA is at fault for EVERYTHING

This crossed my mind for a bit, but I think they'll go with the "default color".

It actually has been talked about in previous threads. I think odds are good this will happen . I know I'll be getting both.

I actually did think about it... that picture just reminds me to buy a JP Rob that I'll probably never get :(. I always wanted one... R.O.B. and Game & Watch have been my most looked forward too amiibos since they started making the smash bros. ones...

Which one do you guys like more? Keep in mind, I still need to touch them up. These are just basic crops. The top one looks cooler, but I feel like it's so zoomed out, it might not look as good on mobile. But does that matter?

Second one has to crop out a lot, but you can see face more clearly. SO hmmm. I'll edit out the pink on the oustide you can see, and add sparkles too. Just want to see which one you guys like more (in terms of the size). I'm personally leaning towards the first, since it's so bad ass. But then the second feels like a better avatar avatar (like size wise). Hmm.

EDIT: nevermind, just clicked your pic and zoomed in. THIS IS THE REASON.

For some reason, Shulk's eyes look odd when zoomed out (pic wise). However his eyes are painted, it looks strange zoomed out. But I just saw the pic at full resolution and his face looks great! Phew.

Thanks for taking these. First time I've seen it that way.

Pretty sure it was referring to the GAFfer that got 5 from his local Targets. You bought 2 local, 3 online, but all 5 are going back to the community, so good deed in my book.

Edit: I really need to catch up. I'm at an hour ago which is like 3 pages! Omg you all post so fast.
 
BTW, for anyone in the New York area, the NWS was practically empty when I got there and they had quite a few Sonic amiibo. I asked about Mega Man, the other amiibo that's supposedly coming later in the month to retailers, and the guy at the register said they didn't know when they'll receive him. My guess is that he'll be there next time we have shitty weather.

Yeah they cleared it up. It was about Huelen and not me. We both just happened to get 5 of Rosie that day (since I said 5), I just thought maybe it was me. Either way, I did apologize for assuming wrong. But I think the conversation was still worth having. It's an interesting one.

I just clicked the pic for the full resolution, and you guys are right! His face looks great. For some reason, Shulk's eyes look weird zoomed out in pics (it's the way they are painted). But I zoomed in on the pic, and it looks fantastic.

I know I ask often but any rumors on Wave 4 pre order dates yet?

EDIT: and my Rosalina, Bowser, Sheik, and Toon Link's came today. All look fantastic. I especially love Rosalina and Bowser. Bowser is just fantastic. Great sense of weight and power.

I believe they just send out a text to whatever number you have on file and then just call if the text doesn't get sent.

I know there are a lot of handheld Kingdom Hearts games for Nintendo, but the WiiU isn't getting Kingdom Hearts 3, correct?

I concur. People will hate on Peach and Kirby but I love them so ;P

Lucario looks weak and doesn't look special at all. Heck, a ninja dressed all in black would look better.
