Rosy is the mail.

Scumbag didn't even wait to get home to post the listing, he clearly just took the picture from the back of his car still in the parking lot.

These people are literally the worst. Ugh.

But sometimes it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing. I bought two Rosalinas this morning simply because I knew I'd inevitably have a friend who would want one. On my way out of Target, a mother came rushing in desperately wanting a Rosalina for her son, but they had already sold out. I offered to sell her my second one for $20 because neither of us had any change, thinking I was being a good samaritan, and she was offended that I (apparently) tried to upsell her. I wasn't even trying to upsell her - I was just trying to make it convenient for her to get an incredibly hard-to-find item for her son without having to look all day and probably not find one. She stormed off disgusted. Some people, man.

ugh, he actually sold some. fucking asshole.

Yeah, that's what happens when people can't buy them. People want what they can't have. Nintendo knows this. It makes them more valuable and sought after. Nintendo sells everything they make and has no waste. They can go and print off more whenever they see fit and everyone will just buy them out again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

trading is completely fair, you're giving somebody something that they want in exchange for something you want, scalping is buying something you know people really want and inflating the price at everyone else's expense, trying to compare the two is pathetic
Pathetic? Kind of a strong word choice there. I get what the guy means though. You're still buying multiples not because you want those characters, but you want to use them to get something else. In this case, it's to get different characters. Scalpels do it to get a lot of money, traders do it to get other Amiibos. While it can be argued that it's less shitty since it isn't done for excessive profits, that's cold comfort for the people that now can't buy it in the store.

Bet if you send them a message they'll say "well, there WAS twenty, and I ONLY took 16 of them!"

I think about this sometimes too. I think if you're a fan and you maybe see some rarer or hard to find figures, reselling them for $15-$25 really isn't all that bad. You can use that money then to fund more amiibo purchases. $25 I think is pushing it, but $20 would be just fine.

Probably just going to end up buying Rosalina on eBay. Probably would have been able to get one from one of the 5 or 6 Targets within decent driving distance of me if not for this fucking snow.

Except it takes several months to print things off and get it shipped over here, meaning they likely haven't been able to start a full reprint batch after Wave 1 came out yet.

i think buying a few extras for trade or to sell to make back the money you spent is fine, imo. but buying the entire store's stock like that eBay asshole is scummy and gross.

do we know when this reprint is happening, though? That's what I'd like to know.

no details sadly

I just assumed that all Target's were doing a 1 per customer. Mine wouldn't even let me buy a second for my brother (I understand though since I could just as easily been lying).

Yeah, I think it's really shitty Nintendo is artificially creating demand by under-supplying. I get it from a business sense. And it's obviously paid off.

But the least Nintendo could do is communicate with us better. Start giving us unified Release Dates vs this scattered release date bullshit. Give us a pre-order days. And start doing re-prints later down the line (or let us know, if they are really discontinuing things).

And I mean, even up to a point, I do think Customer experience and consumers perception of the company matters. If their entire plan is to just keep shitting on us, and make this experience awful. Well then fuck them. I do get it from a business sense, but there has to be a balance. And honestly, WE as consumers had to make the experience tolerable by helping each other out, and being there for each other (doing community's like this). If it wasn't for that, this would be a truly awful experience.

Yeah, exactly. My point, though, is that I would have gladly sold my second one to her for the usual $15 ($12 + tax) if either of us had had the change to make that happen. We didn't, so $20 was the best I could do since that was all she had, and she decided to get all huffy over an extra $5 that I didn't even intend to charge her in the first place. Sometimes you try to do the right thing in situations like this and not screw people like the scalpers are, and it backfires.

They're both scummy to different degrees. Buying a few extra and selling it for a modest profit is a little scummy. Buying a large quantity and selling it at obnoxiously high profits is very scummy.

i guess that guy got lucky. maybe the clerk didn't know there was a limit.

a little scummy but i think we're all guilty of that to some degree. sometimes you wanna get something back for the exhaustive hunt.

Why not go in and return the Amiibo in Target and tell them you are doing so so that only she could buy it.

I've found a guy on Kijiji who wants to trade his WFT (plus $30) for my extra Meta Knight and extra Shulk. Does that sound like it's a fair deal to anyone, or am I getting ripped off?

i guess that guy got lucky. maybe the clerk didn't know there was a limit.

Yeah. Most stores did in fact, do 1 per customer. Some did 2 (depending on the stock they got). I guess it depends on the manager who actually runs their store (or the department).

Feel like Target definitely did the best they could in many cases and that the ridiculous undershipping is on Nintendo.

So tired of this company treating me like shit. If my amiibo were unopened I'd be tempted to put the whole lot up for sale and be done with it. It really is not worth the aggravation hunting down ones I want and trying to preorder here and there for exclusives.

Uh...

Purely like 1:1 retail, it's obviously not a good real. If you are talking rarity, and second hand market price. It's hard to say. Like, Shulk could be just as rare as WFT. Meta Knight could be rare or at least uncommon.

So on paper, it feels like a worse deal (especially if Shulk ends up being incredibly rare). But you can't predict these things. Basically, it's up to you. How badly do you need WFT? If you need her to complete your Wave...and these are just extras you don't actually need.

I guess it could be worth it? Face value is $12x2 = $24. WFT goes for a lot more on Ebay ($40-60). But without knowing whether Shulk or Meta Knight becomes rare, as of now it's technically a fair deal, but could end up being a bad deal. You are taking a risk. Let'ts say Shulk ends up being rare, and Meta Knight is rare or uncommon. They could be worth $60-80 or even more together.

EDIT: Actually you can get WFT the EU version from Germany for $24.

i would wait. see what the stock is like for Meta and Shulk once they're officially released.

Meta Knight and Shulk are gonna be super rare. Sounds like you are getting hosed. WFT can be found still on Amazon international sites.

If you happen to live in the Midwestern US, give your local Target a call. I was able to brave the snow storm at 2pm, and score a Rosalina at Target. They had tons of them still, but were limiting her to one per customer. I asked how many people had been there at opening, and the clerk said "no one." They had sold only three, including mine, the whole day. If you are able to safely get there, the snow storm might actually help those of you who wanted to sleep in / couldn't get there at 8AM. I'd call your local store first, just to make sure they have them. Good luck hunting, AmiiboGAF.

Also pretty sure that Target image is the real deal.

Nintendo is fucking stupid though. Everyone is making a killing on these things but them.

That and there is just no way to predict whether they become rare or not. If both become rare, then the deal is obviously bad.

Also, if he can import it from EU....germany has them for $24. You can find WFT on Amazon international and Ebay for $24.

Is meta knight out today? I have him reserved online but the release day still says 12/31

Nope. Word on the street is that it's delayed to Mid Feb or end of Feb. There is no info yet. But it's not out the first week of Wave 3 release.

Except it takes several months to print things off and get it shipped over here, meaning they likely haven't been able to start a full reprint batch after Wave 1 came out yet.

Obviously, they're not going to show up over night... There's limitation on everything. You're missing the point.

Yeah I wanna say it's legit as well.
Also makes sense about those other since they need to save shelf space. Since amiibo sections even with sales are still pretty small.

Is this friggin real??? Item will not be replenished? Jesus, Nintendo why even fucking bother if certain ones will only be available on release day. This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. This really sucks.

If retailer exclusives are really going to be 1st run on launch day and that's it then we are fucked.

I would have thought all of this would have been figured out by now and that the issues with Wave 1 and 2 were mainly caused by Christmas shopping and demand. Yet here we are with Wave 3 having the same bullshit issues.

Nintendo is obviously carefully planning all of this.

Be in line at 6am on launch day or bust!

I can honestly say, I have never in my 47 years of life bought something to resell. If you "wanna get something back for the exhaustive hunt", don't do the hunt in the first place unless you want one for yourself. If you need money that badly, get a regular job like normal people.

I hope the bolded is sarcasm, because it seems to me that Nintendo has no fucking clue how to plan these releases.

I got two Rosalinas. One toon link. They were sold out of Sheik by the time it was my turn on the register. They had 72 Rosalina Amiibo.

Wow, so guess the employee was right on the fact that Rosalina was an "one time deal"....

Wait I missed it, they are saying Rosalina is 100% done after today? They aren't re-stocking past release date supply?

If so, fuck that shit so hard. SMH.

Pretty agree with this. I've bought multiple Amiibos myself but only ever sold 1 of the Macs. I sold a Rosalina to cover the costs of buying the Rosalinas I bought. Buying 20 or so is pretty shitty....but at the same time, meh.
I do think this is Nintendos fault though.

Yep Rosalina is only just starting to become limited now. Days after launch.
I kinda disagree...

On official launch day (january 23th), i'd say she was virtually nowhere to be found online across Europe. I had troubles to find one online two days before (and when I visited brick'n mortar shops around here on this date, all clercks said "no, we haven't any, and I've seen two dozen people looking for her just this morning")

It took a couple of days to disappear online, but it may just be because Wave 3 was stealthy launched one week early.

I think "starting to become limited now" is an understatement for Europe...

I'm only looking for NA versions though. And I'm sure I could get $80 combined for them (people are selling them for more on Kijiji), but I dont want to be *that* asshole scalper guy. Here in Canada, Shulk / MK are shaping up to be extremely rare - they won't be sold in stores, only went through online preorders. I mean, seeing as they're extras (already have 1 of each set aside for myself, I got 2 of both), would they be better used another way?

I was talking about ANZ stock.

Preorders for Rosalina were nonexistent in the US so everyone went to the European Amazons and they've been out for a while haven't they.

$35 to someone who understands supply and demand seems like a small price to pay.

Girl needs to find a new manicurist though.

Ha, chubby fingers seem to be the bane of the amiibo ladies -- I've noticed that on Zelda, Rosalina and Sheik. How come they gave Fox and Captain Falcon with such nice, svelte fingers, but the ladies have sausage hands?

Otherwise, Rosalina looks great. The subtle metallic paint and purple fingernails are a very "amiibo" touch. That's one thing that screams "Nintendo" about these figures -- the surprising little details. For the first time today, I noticed that the underside of Falcon's gloves are painted a different color and that Fox has the tiniest Star Fox logo I've ever seen printed on his jacket tag.

I'm sure some scalpers have the same mentality tho. Would it have been that difficult to break change somewhere close? I'm sure you thought you were doing a good thing but she thought you were scalping for profit which you were.
