Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Why not go in and return the Amiibo in Target and tell them you are doing so so that only she could buy it.

I didn't think of that on the spot, which is my bad, but with her crappy attitude I'm glad I didn't anyway; a bratty parent like that has probably raised a bratty kid. In the end I'd rather sell it (at no profit) to someone who I know will appreciate/enjoy it (like a friend), so it works out.

Wait I missed it, they are saying Rosalina is 100% done after today? They aren't re-stocking past release date supply?

If so, fuck that shit so hard. SMH.

I'm only looking for NA versions though. And I'm sure I could get $80 combined for them (people are selling them for more on Kijiji), but I dont want to be *that* asshole scalper guy. Here in Canada, Shulk / MK are shaping up to be extremely rare - they won't be sold in stores, only went through online preorders. I mean, seeing as they're extras (already have 1 of each set aside for myself, I got 2 of both), would they be better used another way?

Not that I condone scalping, but...

That's $49 buy it now from Canada. I mean, if you already know Meta and Shulk are rare and going for a lot in Canada. Then I do think it's a bad deal.

Ended up bust on the Lucario hunt; both I and a friend that split up to hit another TRU.

Ah well; wish I'd had the chance to set something up with a Lucariobro on here.

Well that's terrible. Seriously. Fuck that noise.

If they do that shit with Lucario when so many stores only got 4-6 per store, and many only got pre-orders only. Wow. Just wow. Would be insane.

At least Rosie for the most part, had a lot of stock it seems today (in store and online). But damn. If they don't re-stock past today, that's super shitty. Ugh. I hate this artificial demand crap.

I just thought of something, just because Target won't be replenishing them, doesn't mean Nintendo World won't. Perhaps some of these will become Nintendo World exclusives in the future.

I can honestly say, I have never in my 47 years of life bought something to resell. If you "wanna get something back for the exhaustive hunt", don't do the hunt in the first place unless you want one for yourself. If you need money that badly, get a regular job like normal people.

are you new in this thread or what? everyone is hunting for these things.

and yes, i have a full time job which is why i can't go to a store in the morning before they open to buy one. which is why i preorder them online. but hey, we all know how the online stores have been fucking over people. good on you for your 47 years of life.

Isn't that even worse?

Not just one retailer but one retail location period.

I'm sure some scalpers have the same mentality tho. Would it have been that difficult to break change somewhere close? I'm sure you thought you were doing a good thing but she thought you were scalping for profit which you were.

I wasn't scalping for a profit at all. She understood the situation, or at least she claimed to. I offered it to her for $15, she said she only had a $20, so I offered it to her for that since I didn't have change. It's not her declining that I had a problem with, it was her being rude about it that annoyed me. I didn't have time to putz around (I had to get to work and was nearly running late), so yes, finding somewhere to make change would have taken more time than I had to spare.

Whatever, I tried to do the right thing and sometimes that backfires. At least now I know my second one will go to someone friendlier and more deserving. :)

Yeah it is, but with the way Nintendo is handling these things, it wouldn't surprise me. Nintendo World was selling the retail exclusives last week and will be getting Meta Knight later this month.

I wish I had known about Ikea's Fabrikör before jumping on the Detolf bandwagon. Although almost 4x the cost, Fabrikör comes with a lock, and the gapless door prevents dust from settling. I guess NA doesn't have the latter problem as they have AC and don't need to open windows, which stops the dust. I cba to dust my amiibo.

Rosalina not getting restocked. lol now I've seen it all.

Also did that Target ad just say that they aren't selling Ike/Dedede/Sonic/Mega Man in stores?

that's what i read. i can understand about Ike and Dedede, but no Mega Man and Sonic is weird.

I hope the bolded is sarcasm, because it seems to me that Nintendo has no fucking clue how to plan these releases.

Eh. Ultimately as consumers, if a company is treating you like shit, then don't buy what they are selling. But it doesn't mean as consumers, people can't voice their displeasure with how NoA is treating them. And how abysmal the customer experience is buying them.

With Amiibos, it's not even about the exhaustive hunt. You could be on top of everything and still get fucked. Nintendo has done an abysmal job running this in NA. Lack of information. Ever changing release dates. Scattered release dates (Wave 3 has like 5 different ones). Nintendo has constantly failed to communicate with people about pre-order dates or release dates in general. The exclusive deals are also shit, as not every person has that store near them (and if the online version doesn't sell online or they sell out instantly and you tried as everyone else at the exact time it went up -- you are fucked).

Just look at EU/JP and the experience is night and day. I'm not saying they don't have issues too. But clearly NoA is doing some very specific things that are super shitty at the expense of the consumer. So it's not always about being on the hunt, or being on top of things. Basically, luck comes into play, and if you don't luck out, well then fuck you -- pony up for scalper prices if you really want it.

If it wasn't for community's like this trading/selling giving away these at cost. This would be much worse (even if you were putting in all the work/effort necessary). I do understand the sentiment of, just don't buy them if you don't want to be treated like shit. Ultimately, we are making a choice to keep buying these. But I still think consumers should let Nintendo know when they think they are doing a shitty job. Basically, I do get from a business sense Nintendo is having a major success with what they are doing.

But I still think there is a limit. They have to at some point, consider the consumer's experience.

For me, it's that they are artificially creating demand by under-supplying, but it's even worse when on official release dates, some of these Amiibos only get like 4 per store. Like what. What even. That's not even like under-supplying. That's fuckin ridiculous.

Congrats all who got rosie. I hate to be that guy but target bigwigs are going to see what a popular exclusive amiibo does for bringing lots of people to their store. I have a feeling they will try to get ness for exclusive. He will be the rosalina for wave 4. Why else would it take this long? Wave 4 starts in about a month dammit

The ones that are obviously getting smaller print runs are the ones I'd want to stock in my store. Don't give me any more Peach or Pikachu. Give me the ones that you aren't making that many of. Kinda makes no sense.

Rosalina's Mario Line Amiibo better come out quickly.
This just occurred to me. We've seen the fact there'll probably be a Super Mario version of Rosalina down the line if that Mario Party 10 trailer is any indication. It's just probably the SSB version that won't be resold, but then the Super Mario version will be available everywhere.

Now granted, it'd be nice if this applied to Lucario (Pokken?), Meta Knight (doubt a Kirby line would happen), & Shulk (lol yeah a Xenoblade line of amiibo) down the line, but at the very least, Rosalina could possibly have a 2nd version happening. You just won't have Luma included.

Came in from Amazon.fr.

Lucario will be here on Tuesday from Amazon.UK

Wave 4 is April 24th in EU and such. Not NA. Even the. That's more like 2 months away.

Unless you mean the Super Mario series?

Yeah, I think it's really shitty Nintendo is artificially creating demand by under-supplying. I get it from a business sense. And it's obviously paid off.

But the least Nintendo could do is communicate with us better. Start giving us unified Release Dates vs this scattered release date bullshit. Give us a pre-order days. And start doing re-prints later down the line (or let us know, if they are really discontinuing things).

And I mean, even up to a point, I do think Customer experience and consumers perception of the company matters. If their entire plan is to just keep shitting on us, and make this experience awful. Well then fuck them. I do get it from a business sense, but there has to be a balance. And honestly, WE as consumers had to make the experience tolerable by helping each other out, and being there for each other (doing community's like this). If it wasn't for that, this would be a truly awful experience.

Release date issue is probably more of a "we don't know when they're coming" situation. Rather than appearing like they can't hold a firm release date and frustrate people with constant delays - they'll just keep they're mouth shut and whisper "soon." It's probably quite a task to print out that many variants of product at a time. It keeps them in a more positive light. Nintendo still sells out and it keeps their products looking more and more valuable to the average ignorant consumer.

I don't think Nintendo wants to say that they're discontinuing anything. Look at Marth. He was unofficially discontinued by retailers but now we have another batch coming... someday. If Nintendo completely discontinues a product they can't profit from it. Especially, if its in high demand and selling out. It's like I said, if they want to reprint more they'll do it as long as everyone is still hungry for amiibos. The Smash line is definitely going to be limited though. There's no way Nintendo is going to keep 50 different characters constantly afloat.

I agree, and the thing with Rosalina stock not being replenished is the shittiest thing of all that Nintendo has done.

I hope Target is able to fill the online orders this morning and if they can't I most certainly won't be buying anymore, but sadly it won't let Nintendo know anything because so many people are willing to take this BS from Nintendo so they'll just keep right on doing the same shit with all their products.

Sorry..i took the pic with my phone and uploaded it without editing

I noticed something similar with Sheik the other day. Even though one of her eyes is mostly covered, they still painted it on. You can see it if you hold her to one side. I thought it was a nice detail.
The difference is even tho her hair covers that side of her face, Rosalina still doesn't have any eye for that side painted on.

I mean, I don't really care since its mostly covered by hair but thought it was funny when they go so far with other amiibos.

All amiibos that I've gotten have all been high quality. And I'm happy with them. (Samus, Pit, Luigi, Rosalina, Yoshi) They just need to keep them in stock! >:( And FFS stop producing so many Mario series amiibos. Noone fucking cares about them lol. Atleast not the usual characters. The more uncommon characters like Rosalina, Bowser Jr, and Dr. Mario will probably be highly sought after by the end.

Just realized after Wave 4, no other Amiibos will likely be common based on remaining characters...I need to not spend any money for next month or two and just save it all to pay off GS preorders.

If you add a lowercase L to the imgur URL it will give you a smaller pic that doesn't need quotes.

I have an estimated delivery date of 2/4-2/9, is that what everyone has on their Target online orders?
Yup, mine says that as well. I wonder where they'll ship them from. Would be great to get it on a Wednesday or so, but betting it'll be closer to Friday.
Sorry..i took the pic with my phone and uploaded it without editing
That's fine but when you post a big image you should wrap them in
tags to make them smaller automatically.

do we know when this reprint is happening, though? That's what I'd like to know.

I'm going to guess when Wave 4 releases so Marth will be back in stock alongside Robin and Lucina. Don't be surprised if an Ike restock happens as well to have all 4 FE characters readily available for STEAM.

What if the Marth reprint is only available bundled in an LE for STEAM?
