Yep. Pre-order online at EB. Walk into the store and pick up. Simple as that. Or delivered for an extra fee obviously.
Americans have it tough because their online pre-orders can go up randomly and get sold out very quickly. EB Australia had wave four up for at least a week before it sold out, EB New Zealand still has it up and Mighty Ape hasn't even put theirs up yet.

Shulk disappeared ages before release, but I was mainly talking about getting them after release. It was like locusts swept through the shops minutes after opening and none have restocked.

Ordered Rosalina like 1 day before launch. Then again she was very bountiful here so.
It's also really easy as shit so far to preorder Wave 4, none of them have sold out yet in EB Games and it's been weeks. And that's only one retailer so far.
I still wonder why we're kind of lucky. Like just turn up on release day and you have a good shot at getting most of them even without preorders.
Single unified release date. Every single Wave 3 Amiibo all at once. EB games taking pre-orders (you guys already had Wave 4 pre-orders weeks ago). That is what I'm talking about.
But you guys also had no supply? So lol. What's the point, right?

And yet...I see so many people like this guy, hamming it up and make it seem so easy. And it just makes me feel so ahdsgkfjahklgjh'q towards Nintendo and their shitty handling of U.S. amiibos. SMH.
Def just importing from here on out. Pretty much already pre-ordered the majority of Wave 3 this time around. I only got Bowser and Toon Link in stores. No joke. Rest were imports, which came weeks early.
In Canada if you don't go when they're out or miss the preorder then you're fucking screwed. Only 3-4 stores in the whole country actually carry these + Amazon.
That's why I have to be on my toes about it.
There's absolutely no Wave 3 stuff right now since EB only released Shulk + Bowser + Sheik + Toon Link, and people bought them all, don't see a damn thing on shelves around here.
If you're just referring to Shulk, there was a port delay so even preorders weren't filled completely and I'm sure there won't be any extras for the second shipment because scalpers will get them all. If someone didn't help me out I couldn't even have gotten a Shulk at all, I hate being in Canada.
Friday is the official day for Toys 'R Us here for Wave 3, let's see what the fuck happens then if I wake up and go out.
Yes they do. Well, you have to check. Sometimes items for sale will randomly NOT ship to the U.S. But 99% of the time they do.
If you pick basic/international shipping, it can take like a week + to get there though. But Amazon.de is legit as hell.

Yeah, that sucks. U.S. only got Bowser, some Toon Link, and little to no Sheik. That was all we got for the first week of Wave 3. Lucario was a joke. Pretty much was pre-order only. Rosie was actually a surprise as Target had decent stock.
But really, U.S. in most states only got Bowser. Kind of sad, when you put it in that perspective.
I'm pretty sure there was a post about it before about how geography also might've influenced things over yonder. Like for most of Aussie the populated areas are the coasts and for NZ it's basically North Island or bust. But US is spread out in a large space so your stocks get spread about a bit more than ours.
Also NZ only has like ~4.5mil inhabitants in it so we don't have that much demand.
Fair enough. I guess I just consider 'easy' being walking into the store and buying what you want, like those pictures from Germany. We do have it better than some places, though.

Well, my order seems to have gone through. As soon as it ships, I can cancel my other one. (And if not, I'll just have a few extras for trading/gifts.)

Scout german online shops around EU release (officially 20th of february, but probably a bit earlier), I think you should have some opportunities.
To be clear, I'm just messing around (well more so, just being stupid). The way I see it, all regions are pretty much having an awful time with these. The problem is, for each region, there is going to be cities or states or whatever. And so depending on where you are at, you are going to have little to no stock. Or you might live in an area with a shit ton of stock.
Feels like you have to be in the right spot/geography wise, to get it really great. I'm assuming all the people in NZ/Aus that were able to get all of Wave 3 in a single day with no hassle, must have been in a city/area that either got a lot of stock OR...an area where no one gave a shit about Amiibos hah.
I do envy your guys EB Games that seem to do pre-orders better. And I still wish we had a single/unified release date instead of the 5 scattered release date non-sense we have. But if you guys are super supply constrained, then I can understand how it would be a wash to have that.

Ha, no worries! I understand the frustration. I was stupid enough to think that Amiibos were going to be, you know, a thing and not a bunch of more or less limited editions, and Shulk was gone from EB's website before I had a chance to pre-order. Missed out on getting on in store by one minute and that was my last chance. Especially frustrating with scalpers selling multiples on eBay before release for more than double the price. Seems that way. I bought my Meta Knight like 4 days ago. And I'm checking now, and all the sites are sold out. I'm guessing people got fed up with the NA situation having such shit stock (especially after the Lucario incident), and probably didn't want to even mess with Best Buy.
I still really really think Shulk and Meta Knight are going to be pre-order only for NA. So I think importing will be the best bet for a lot of people. The good thing is, even if JP is sold out now, Amazon international sites should put them up after their release. So pretty much, try to get one in a NA store, then try your best to import it before prices skyrocket (especially if the NA release is as bad as a I think it will be).
It's really annoying to have these amiibos have Feb 13 or 20th release. As it feels like you are just "waiting" but at the same time, have no idea if they will even get any stock in beyond the pre-orders. I've 100% given up on Shulk. Which is why I placed an order on PlayAsia for the US version of Shulk. I knew that without a pre-order, Shulk at GS would be near impossible.
Hah, thanks. I'll edit out my post. I was being a dick. Wasn't my intention. Just blowing some steam at the "benefits" those regions had. But the reality is, those benefits don't always translate across the board, as most people don't actually see those benefits. Like, what is the point of a single unified release date, if stock was THAT bad.

Every time I see people on Reddit or other places post their pics of Shulk and the Wave 3 releases that aren't out yet. It's like gaaaah. Because of how shit the situation has been for most everyone trying to get Wave 3 (and it being so abysmal stock wise).

Yeah that's kind of where I'm at with it too. It's just so dumb that window for preorders happen so randomly and not up long enough for people who aren't scalping assholes to get at least one. And BB still has fucking clue what they're doing.
Like today, I was at the GameStop where my friend works and we were talking about our chances with Shulk and a Metaknight and this guy overhears us and says he has 2 extra Meta's that he'll sell us for 60 each. If there wasn't a mom there with her two kids I would have seriously told this guy to fuck right off with that bullshit.
My chances with Metaknight are probably the same as me getting a Villager or Mac now. But my friend who works at GameStop is gonna talk to the Nintendo Rep and see if they can push for a limit per customer on Shulk. Hopefully that helps me with at least Shulk.

He was still up for a week or so to pre-order. If you want an amiibo and go to EB within a few days of pre-orders going live and you're golden. I think it took about a week for Lucina to bite the dust too.
You guys get Kirby at least half a year before us. I can't be too sympathetic, I really want that game. NoE and NoAus are bad in so many other places. No digital games to purchase with Club Nintendo stars either.
South Island stores are mostly getting pre-order or overflow stock I think. Not sure about Riccarton, if there's any store that would be getting extras it would be that one but I'm not there to check.

Supposedly. Shipments are pretty low. Like the Target I went to for Rosalina's release only had 1. The 3 of us at the front of the line didn't want it (me and this other gaffer were the first 2). The 4th person in line wanted it but some kids cutted by going to another register and got it.
Right now, yeah. It might -- might -- end up being another Diddy Kong scenario though (earliest Wave 2 shipments had only a few Diddies or none at all, everyone freaked out that he would be super rare, then a ton more Diddies arrived and now he's one of the most common). Most of Wave 3 hasn't really hit the US yet.

I'm not particularly fond of the way their hair was done and Elsa looks a bit weird. Was a bit excited when I was reading Figure GAF and I first read into it. Then saw the pictures and had the same reaction as a number of people there.

It's detailed but it looks a bit sloppy imo. Like that front clump of hair, it looks like it's going two directions with a somewhat overlap. Personally if I was getting it, I would get the Anna one. Think that one looks a bit better than the Elsa one (and this is coming from an Elsa fan if you didn't figure that out from my avatar lol)

Yah, I was just talking about Anna. And yes, I figured you were an Elsa fan lol. I'm an Anna fan myself. And I think I am going to get that figure, its one of the best Annas I have seen, the only thing holding me back is the pictures saying prototype. I remember the amiibo fiasco with the prototypes and am not sure the actual figure will look like that. I wish they'd make a Rapunzel one like that.
Now if only amiibos were this easy to come by in NA, lol.

I think it would be a safe buy especially since usually Japanese figures tend to be just like the pictures they supply or better. Also this one is being manufactured by Bandai. Also amiibos weren't childproofed early on. These don't need to be since they're aimed towards the older audience and are higher priced for quality. If you're still in doubts though, ask Figure GAF for their opinion.
And what are you talking about? Amiibos are easy to come by in NA
