Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

My Amazon Sonic and Sheik got updated from match 2nd to Feb 10th. Hopefully I get updates on Ike, DDD, and especially Megaman soon.

To bring it all home, its worth it to remember that these are just fun things to collect and not to stress about. Dont break the bank for an Amiibo.

I also feel like those who are keeping them NIB and are on the fence about opening them, to watch this and remember that you should enjoy it while it lasts. Because NIB might not be worth jack shit in a couple years...

Worse part about Beanie Babies is that their values are worthless nowadays. I kept seeing them selling for 4 dollars or less even the rare beanie babies would be sell for like 6 dollars for just three rare beanie babies bundled together.

Amiibo's value would be more likely to be worthless in couple of years when the hype wore out.

Ignore the emails, go to the store and pick it up. If they sold it, raise hell.

Still haven't received my Rosalina and Lucario :(

Should I be worried?
 
I have no doubt amiibos will crash and burn in the future, that's why I'm buying them for the lowest price possible. I passed on a Marth from Play Asia because it was 24 dollars.
 
My closest Meijer hasn't gotten a restock since before Christmas, my closest Walmart since before that. In fact, my Walmart never even got Wave 2. My Gamestop is even worse just getting the odd random figure here and there.

Meijer has essentially been my go to for amiibo since they came out, and now they just haven't been getting anything. They still have the display up, but all they have are a few Mario and Peach. It's even labeled with all the Wave 3 characters.

Nope. I have a package that shipped January 26th from Japan and hasn't even left the country yet. Give it time.

The amiibo scene seems crazy, but it's still a tiny production compared to beanie babies. That shit was huge and had pricing guide books printed. Even McDonalds had a line of them.

Its weird because they shuffled the dates and Lucario actually came with Wave 3A. They went out early on 1/30 when the preorders were dated 2/1. My store is holding preorders til 1/8 so hopefully that dudes store isn't run by idiots.

I think so as well. It is best to buy them because you like the characters and not planning on reselling them. Also do not pay x2 the price for them.
I am expecting the Skylanders market to crash eventually despite the games being good because that is what happened to Guitar Hero.

So I work at the local Gamestop, and last night I did an order on Gamestop.com of the five SM ones for storenpickup. I opened today, and the paper prints off for web reservations as they get added to the store account.

It only has two of the five on it.

Hmmmmm... This should be fun.

I just got that email, except it's only for my Bowser :( My Sheik order required approval to keep active.

took activision a little over a year to finally meet the demand for skylanders you guys think amiibo hunting is bad you didnt see the hell that was trying to get certain figures and expansions for the first skylanders game....
 
I was daydreaming yesterday about being in a Goodwill or something in 20 years and just seeing a big pile of amiibos for 50 cents or something like that.

I shop goodwill all the time. They would probably either call them vintage rare and price them at $99. or they would put them behind the glass for silent auction. With a starting bid of $300/each.
 
 
CANADIAN AMIIBO UPDATE


Future Shop is supposed to get in Toon Link, Shiek and Bowser this week, only those ones. So check in on that. They told me yesterday in store that all other Wave 3 Amiibos and Meta Knight are dated as February 28th in their shipping details. Meta Knight WILL NOT be sold in stores or online, all are reserved for pre-orders, the only reason they are getting some to the store is for the in store preorders done through their website for in store pick up.


EB Games got Rosalina yesterday, but if your local store(s) didn't then it could show up today. I am hoping we get an announcement regarding in store preorders for Mega Man and Sonic being available. Their Twitter said end of this week or early next week, so any day now. No word on the fullfilment of the remaining Shulk, Ike and other pre-orders.


Toys R Us had all of Wave 3 and Rosalina in store on Tuesday at my location, so if your location didn't get them in yet then you should check again today. Lucario will be released tomorrow Friday February 6th with stores getting an average of 20 units. My local store confirmed they will be giving out tickets to the line that will form and escort the line to electronics where they will have the Lucarios behind the counter to give out with a 1 per customer limit. Call your local TRU you will be going to tomorrow to make sure they are impleneting these types of systems. Even the TRU Canada Twitter confirmed a 1 per customer limit and such, so do not let them fuck up the launch. Some stores have held back their Wave 3 stock (all of Wave 3 including Rosalina) for this launch. REMEMBER THAT THEY OPEN AT 9:00AM ON FRIDAYS!!!


Wal Mart is supposed to get Wave 3 tomorrow, so no harm in checking today in case they are put on the shelves early. I honestly believe they will only get Toon Link, Shiek and Bowser, just like Future Shop. No details when Rosalina will be popping up on their shelves or website.


I am hoping for EB Games to announce Sonic and Mega Man available for preorder pick up in store today or tomorrow. Then I'm just waiting on Shulk (Gamestop USA) and Meta Knight (Future Shop Canada) to complete my Wave 3 collection.
 
Hmmm. My eBay Lucario order "shipped" 3 days ago but the tracking number still says "Not Available." Is everyone else who ordered that way able to see theirs?

Edit 2: oh BTW the real reason that happened is because the seller used one of FedEx or ups cheap options and this is how it gets cheaper. By handing it off to an even cheaper delivery service

You'd figure TRU eBay orders wouldn't be cheaper because the shipping actually cost more than when you order from their own website. Oh well, at least its coming lol

I don't see any information on when Amazon.fr shipped mine - only that they were supposed to arrive around the 29th of January.

Order was originally placed "le 19 décembre 2014", but it doesn't say when it actually left their facilities.

I ordered for delivery.

It always said available in store but no stores had it in stock, and shipping wasnt available.

this morning shipping WAS available, so i posted the link.
 
I can't believe there's so much demand for Fox now, lol. They were readily available on store shelves for ages

kind of reminds me of Xenoblade... you could pick up a copy from basically any GameStop for 4 months after release... then they finally ran out and suddenly everyone wanted it

Didn't you get an email when it shipped? These things take time - could easily take 14-21 days
