Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Picked up Shulk, and Toon Link yesterday from game stop....sadly my Shulk has a bit of clear glue on his mouth (of all the places lol) has anyone successfully removed this off their Amiibo? Its not the only time I've seen this happen, really wish I had asked to swap it with another one but I always get embarrassed about being a nit picky collector like that, its why I wish these things were easier to get so I could just hand pick them my self.

So I have an unopened Luigi, but man that pose is lame
and kinda phalic.
Debating if I should keep this guy or just replace him with the Super Mario Luigi...

Right I know Luigi is just a joke. Someone for Nintendo to just point and laugh at but still...
I never liked how Luigi in Smash is portrayed as so creepy and awkward. Can't stand that. Much prefer his portrayal in Mario Party and other games, where he's just a normal counterpart to Mario, that's all.

Does the announcer always have to announce Luigi's name strangely? Does he have to have that creepy moan when he gets KO'd? Do his taunts have to show him in that kind of light? I never understood it. The new Final Smash is a step in the right direction, since the one in Brawl was just...yeah. Just want some good representation of Luigi already.

And that's my rant.

I'm really expecting the Mario Party amiibos to come out better than the Smash amiibos.

The smash amiibos weren't exactly designed to be made into real figures, but you can tell the Super Mario series was.

The ones that have the more normal poses (kirby, pikachu, bowser, dedede, megaman) are easily among the best so far.

On the contrary, I actually like Luigi portrayed like this, Dreamstar saga and Luigi mansion 2 for example. Makes him more differentiated from Mario, who is pretty generic in comparison and Luigi makes me laugh in these games, so all for more of that personally. I don't just want another Mario in green. Purposely got the amiibo for Luigi cause I thought it was funny ha ha.

Understand your view though, I just personally actually see it as character compared to Mario who doesn't really.

Don't get me wrong, I also liked him in the M&L games, as well as Luigi's Mansion. He had character in being wimpy and worrisome, which made it even better when he had to get stuff done. I can dig that.

What I don't like is how amped up the awkward weirdness is specifically in Smash. That crap is annoying, already. His amiibo pose, from one of his victory posed, is just plain weird and doesn't have the same vibe as Classic or M&L/Luigi's Mansion, to me anyways.

I hope in the next game, they just dial back that weirdness in favor of him just being, as I said, worrisome and hesitant, but able to be strong when he needs to. That, and the general interpretation in Mario Party and such is cool with me.

Good points. Not really something I noticed in SSB thinking about it, but perhaps he is a little more "awkward and weird" compared to in other games perhaps being displayed more as worrisome, scared and clumsy. Just don't want him to be a Mario clone in green clothing though really.

Same here but it's cause the release date (street date) is set for 2/20

But what you can take away from that is that the Best Buys listed there should have them.
So they have them but can't sell them yet?

On 2/20 will I be able to confidently order online for in-store pickup? That's the question.

Correct, they have but can't sell yet. I even confirmed in-store when I stopped by yesterday on my way home.

As far as ordering online...I have no idea. I'm opening they open up.

It wasn't until Brawl that his character "changed" really. It took some getting used to the new voice but now I definitely prefer it over the old one.

And I for one miss ZA WARUDO...

So tomorrow, TRU will have King DDD, megaman, Ike, and Sonic? I wonder how in stock they will be by the time I get off work.

Still waiting for gamestop in store to text me for those 4 but Shulk should should show up today at least.

Gamestop delivered!

He's pretty snazzy. It's almost a shame I'm trading away my second for a Rosalina. Almost.

Really like Luigi but I didn't get it cause that pose is so dumb, getting the Mario series Luigi instead :)

It's been reported here, but thanks for sharing!

Also, yeah, in Smash 64, he was pretty much just a higher pitched clone of Mario with different properties, and I certainly don't want that. I just want a good middle ground between a normal portrayal and his unique chatacter quirks, but not to the point of excess weirdness, like his Brawl ZA WARUDO, haha!

Been a fan of Luigi since childhood, being the younger brother to Mario like me and my brother, so I just get annoyed when he's thrown way into weird territory.

And yes, I suppose the truth is that any Luigi is good Luigi, even:

I plan on getting super Mario Luigi as well. But I feel like the red base is gonna bother me.I'm probably gonna end up painting it black so it fits on better with the smash amiibos.

Sounds like a good idea, actually. Wonder why they had to make 'em red like that.

Edit: well, obviously, just hit me: Mario, red, etc. Makes sense. Still would prefer black, like you.

It's his Smash 4 render. Considering it's the Smash 4 wave, they didn't have much of a choice. Plus the Super Mario variant looks to have much less detail.

It really doesn't matter. They chose to go for the smash renders for all the characters even tho they could've done a pose that does require support, they could've done their taunts instead for example(like when luigi throws the peace sign, or when he looks down and kicks the ground)

They wanted consistency with what's seen in the Character Select Screen & the website amongst every character. Since, let's be honest, if someone like Robin had a completely different pose, it'd be kinda off compared to everyone else who maintains their Smash 4 render pose.

If anyone, blame Sakurai for making those unorthodox poses in the first place. He probably knew about the Amiibos during development, yet he went through with the poses anyway.

Yeah I think they did it to match the in-game pieces which actually do look better red in Mario party 10. I'm just too ocd when it comes to these things. I've rearranged my amiibos so many times just to get the right "look" lol.

I personally don't mind too much about the red, I'd just prefer a simple black. I'll like 'em all, regardless!

If I were to find all four of those at TRU tomorrow, which two should I get? I only have enough money for two right now. In thinking mega man and ddd/Ike. I just really don't like sonic.

I'm sure people would have said by now (or maybe I missed it), but has anyone gotten any texts from Gamestop for Ike or Dedede (or Mega Man or Sonic for that matter)?

I hope some of you realize there's a labor dispute going on at the port of LA that's fucking up a ton of shipments from china and possibly messing up amiibos release dates.
