Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

I want this game to be made.

I love the tenacity, the passion, the fact that when stars align, a sequel to a game you never thought you'd see again has a chance of being created.

I support this...if only to enjoy what I am sure to be a great game, but also...that perhaps it may convince another team to get me a freaking WILD ARMS SEQUEL DAMMIT!!

Best of luck mates.

I so want to hope for this to get funded but unless it gets much more exposure I still worry greatly about it :\

Needs 88k a day on average for the last 3 days

Wow, this has gotten some tractions in the last two days. More than 80k per day. This might become a race to the finish line.

Aren't you only allowed to donate a maximum of $25,000 to a Kickstarter? I don't see where people are getting the idea that Yosp will fly in and donate a billion.

I never played the PS2 games and didn't like Rock Band Blitz but I hope you guys all get the game you want.

I am $100 in on this thing and I hated Rock Band Blitz. Please don't judge Amplitude by that. RBB is something I'd rather ignor.

Amplitude is a technically sound music-to-mechanics game that you can get better and better and better at.

so glad to see this gain some traction in the last few days, there is hope!

I backed at $15 originally and then upped it to $40. I wish I could afford to bump it up to 70 or 100 :( that PS2 case would be sweet

This is the first Kickstarter I will back. Harmonix holds a special place in my heart for all of those amazing gaming nights I feel like I owe it to them. Plus they just seem like really cool passionate people. In for 40!

Woah, this looks like it might happen. I have to back this now.

It's too bad they aren't interested or can't make a Vita version. I don't play on PS3 anymore and I don't think I will have a PS4 when this gets released. Sony should just give them the resources, knowing that this can only be released on Playstation systems.

Vita is an unofficial stretch goal its in their FAQ. So its possible.

I'm not going to lie, I always say it - I don't do Kickstarter. But I will absolutely buy a copy of the game and am genuinely excited that Harmonix might make it.

One of my favourite developers.

Sony can't touch this at this point otherwise you'll have rabid fanboys and skeptics yelling that this was all a giant marketing exploit.

Why not donate $20 it gets you the game. Which would probably end up being the game price on the PS Store.

You would think someone from Sony would make a big donation to make this happen. It's in their interest to have an exclusive like this on the PS4.

I'm not sure, Freq and Amp were loved by fans, but neither was a high seller. If it's struggling to hit the goal with only 700k, and a few thousand fans, what are the odds of it being a big seller with a much greater budget? Especially when that same money could fund a half dozen indie games.

Oh, what the hell, in for $20. I'd just end up buying it anyway once it gets made.

I think this is the first game Kickstarter I've seen without stretch goals. They knew it was a big ask.

Rock Band Blitz was nowhere near as cool as Amplitude was even if superficially it looked sort of the same.

Even if the Kickstarter ultimately makes the goal (which looks better and better all the time), this has to be one of the big failures on Harmonix's part: telling people who have never played Amplitude exactly how it's different from the spiritual successors they've put out since. Alex Rigopulos has a very detailed explanation of how Amplitude is a different beast and I think if that info had been more public knowledge, it would've made a difference.

It would've gone some way towards showing just how different the Amplitude formula is, which helps partially answer the "why not re-release Amplitude under a different name with tweaked mechanics?" question, though you'd also have to read into it that Rock Band Blitz might have been as close as Harmonix could come to the Amplitude mechanics without running afoul of Sony's intellectual property (and I don't actually know if that's the case).

To be fair, I never played amplitude and after watching the video still don't understand how it's played. Messaging is really off on this one. They should have showed how awesome the gameplay is. I still backed, only because I want more games on my ps4 and because I loved rock band.

It's very similar to Rock Band Unplugged on PSP if you played that (or even Rock Band Blitz I guess though that game seem a bit too simplified)

It's like Rock Band Blitz but with versus multiplayer where you directly affect the opponent's track.

I remember playing a lot of it with my cousing. Not sure if I played a lot of single player besides for practice reason.

Edit: Edited above.

Could part of the reason this didn't take off faster be that they are so slanted towards the xbox brand that most of the fans went towards xbox? Im looking at pictures on their twitter and all I see is xbox advertising and the occasional ps2 and ps3 logo.

That sounds amazing. Why didn't they explain that in the video? Oh well, I believe they'll make their goal.

I think there was another $10k pledge a few minutes ago. Went from 516 to 526. There's a lot of these. Seems suspicious.

Average pledge is over 64 now.

I can't believe it. It screeched to a halt a mere three days in and remained that way for ages, yet now it actually looks like it has a good chance of reaching 775k after all. I knew there would be a boost towards the end - there always is with these things - but daaaamn. I may well have some serious crow to eat when this is all over.

I was sure this wasn't going to make it. Seems they are going to squeak by!

Average of $63 per backer, there are some whales contributing to this project.

Kickstarter is made for whales, that's why every KS project has a multitude of pledge levels, most of which are hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Without the whales many of these games wouldn't even get off the ground, because for every whale spending $5000 you'd need hundreds of people spending $10 or $20.

Hey Guys:

We’re launching a $35 tier at 5:30pm eastern that includes DLC codes redeemable on PSN (a $20 value). We wanted to give you a heads up that this tier is coming online so you didn’t feel like there was a “new thing” added at a lower tier that isn't being explicitly added to your tier.

We can’t add this $20 value for everyone who will be in this tier by the end of the campaign, because these tiers are uncapped. We'd run out of these DLC codes! But because all of you were awesome enough to back at this level before this change, WE'RE GOING TO GRANDFATHER YOU IN TO GET THESE CODES, JUST FOR BACKING! HURRAY!

One note - THESE CODES ARE LIMITED TO US PSN ACCOUNTS ONLY (that’s just how they work!).

In your backer survey at the end, we’ll ask if you have a US PSN account. If you do, and you backed ahead of this change, you’ll get the codes! If you don’t have a US PSN account, we couldn’t have given you the codes at a lower tier regardless – so hopefully you can root for us adding more people in to the project at that lower tier.

Thanks again SO much for your support. We’re pushing as hard as we can to get across this finish line!

Yours,
JohnD

Wow this thing really is fascinating. Seriously doubling down on that high per capita pledge huh. I'm in for my $20. Hope they make it.

BELIEVE.

I bet this new pledge level will do wonders for this Kickstarter.

I mean, it's an explicitly $15,000 promotion. "You’re in the $20 Backer tier. We wanted to give you a heads up that we’re launching a $35 tier today at 5:30pm eastern. It’s currently limited to the first 1000 people to back it, so we wanted you to have first crack!" Every little bit counts though.
