Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

Now that this is looking like reality.....I'm just imagining myself playing this in gorgeous 1080p on my 50" LED TV with my Pulse headset volume maxed out.

I was thinking that, or Ratchet music. I don't know how that stuff works - the tier says you need to completely own the song. Does Insomniac own all the music rights in their games?

They may not, but Sony does, so it would probably work.

Still, having Harmonix use one of their tracks from Sunset Overdrive makes more sense because a) they fully own the IP, and b) it cross-promotes an upcoming game. This can be seen as a form of advertising, though I truly believe the advertising is just a nice side benefit, not the point of it.

Considering the amount of people saying this didn't even have a hope in hell, the image is justified if the goal is met at all.
And if it wasn't met? Would it be appropriate to make a list of people who were wrong about it? Or would it be mean spirited?

Presenting "crow" like that is justified with unmitigated success, but this is like jumping the grand canyon, grabbing on to the very edge of the cliff, clawing your way to the top, then holding a press conference calling all the naysayers idiots.

Further, it downplays the real heart-warming part of this kickstarter: that a small community of fans got together to really make this thing happened. Without fans putting down way more than going-rate for the game, this thing wouldn't have been made. That's something to be proud of, but not to gloat over.

I know what I want to see added to the game, and think that a Vita version is inevitable anyway. I'd rather have new gameplay modes crowdfunded.

Nothing stopping them from adding both. Additional platforms are not only standard fare, but requested in this case from the very beginning.

I love DJ Max Technika, but the problem I have with it is that it's hard to find a comfortable position to play it except for resting your Vita on a table. I'd rather have a portable-friendly control scheme, and the one from the previous Rock Band games works perfectly.

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't have it REPLACE the button control scheme, it'd be more like an additional option (or maybe a separate mini-game if the mechanics change too much). The only thing I worry about with the d-pad is it seems too easy to hit two directions at the same time, but maybe that's just me.

I'm a scrub at DJ MAX so maybe I just haven't gotten to a high enough level that I need to put the Vita on a table.

I have to admit that if this makes funding [and it would now be shocking if it didn't] this is one of the craziest kickstarters to date

Console only. PS systems only. No real gameplay footage of new game. Slow start to complete standstill. And then wow at the recovery.

It's amazing :D

I imagine John Drake sacrificed a goat to some kickstarter god

I didn't find the image to be overly negative or disparaging - it just seemed light a fun jab in celebration of this group coming together to make this happen. But I don't want to get into an argument over it and distract from the positivity in this thread, so I'll drop it.

No it's fine. And fitting for those that constantly act as if the PC sku is the all important one. They were against the "heart warming" from the very beginning popping in with all the negativity. It's lovely to be able to show them how ridiculous it is to doubt without even having a clue.

Oh, additional options are never bad, of course.

The astringency in here is astounding.

It's going to make it dudes, let's not get all sour grapes in here or point fingers and laugh at one side or the other.

This.
I'm quite certain many who called it dead wanted success, it just looked dead. All should stop by for backslapping and kudos in about an hour, it will be a happy time.

There will be crow...lots of crow.

So happy this is going to happen. Never played the others, but just seeing the passion of so many here and on Twitter pushed me to pledge.

Man I can't believe this is gonna be a reality

never in my wildest dreams could i have envisioned Amplitude coming back. I'm in heaven :D

If only they'd done a better job of publicising it sooner. They sounded defeated pretty early on which is a bad way to go about getting people to give you money.

I hope they make a vita version down the line or I'd have already backed it.

Cross one leg over the other and rest the Vita on it. Best I've found.

I'm amazed that this is going to make it. That being said, I'd have to give most of the credit to the strength of the community. Harmonix ran a poor campaign, but the community came in to save the Kickstarter.

I don't think you understand the term "sour grapes" -- it refers to people saying something isn't good because they can't have it; That is, the fox says the grapes are sour because it can't reach them.

Covering both bases in case we did have PC-centric folk in here doing anything to prod the PS3/4 crowd. Because, much like the fox, they ain't gettin it.

One of the interesting aspects about this KS project is that it has atracted people like myself who have never backed a KS project before. A lot of my family members don't like videogames in general, yet a lot of Harmonix games have made them hold a controller or plastic instrument in their hands.

Ahhhh, I see your point now :p

If you look at my Kickstarter history, I had only backed vinyl pressings of music until now.

...which is a bummer, since I couldn't afford to back the vinyl tier for this one :(
