Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

This was the most exciting kickstarter I've followed, the greatest comeback ever. What seemed like an impossible task just a few days ago is about to happen. And it manages to be one of the biggest gaming kickstarters with only 18 days, only 2 platforms(no pc=auto fail according to some folks), and being a reboot/remake of a super niche game from over a decade ago!

One of the interesting aspects about this KS project is that it has atracted people like myself who have never backed a KS project before. A lot of my family members don't like videogames in general, yet a lot of Harmonix games have made them hold a controller or plastic instrument in their hands.

This was my first Kickstarter too.

I think it's a lot of people's "first" because it was the one of the first Kickstarters that was a big IP but seemed like it was going to fail. If this had skyrocketed to its goal in a week or less, I doubt I would have bothered pitching in. I was actually debating jumping to the $200 tier before it became certain they'd get funded. Still kinda thinking about it, heh.

Like most of the early gaming Kickstarters, this project appeals to an audience that is vast but quite underserved. There aren't a lot of music games still being made (particularly if you exclude dance games), and fewer still of those music games focus on EDM.

One of the greatest PS2 games ever

This is the first time I've backed a video game. I've backed several board games -- all successful and all reprints of older games.

so what happened, what triggered the boost in backers?

There are a lot of "whale" backing to this game. More than normal. A lot of the industry is getting involved in backing the game which is triggering more interest and more regular backers. I'm ok with it though as I want to see this game get made.

so what happened, what triggered the boost in backers?

A lot of things. Harmonix did a six hour livestream yesterday with call-in, they're on the front page of Penny-Arcade, some well known devs jumped in big -- at least in part to put their songs in the game, which is great, , and Shu and others hyped them on Twitter.

Guys? Hear me out. If we all doubled our pledges they would get 1.5M buckaroos. What do you say? Let's do this. :P
Did think about it but without knowing that it was coming to a console that I own it would take something really special for me to hand over money.

EDIT:
I've loved watching Amplitude approach the target. I must be crazy but my $40 has got me more entertainment than some games that I've paid full price for and this is not even close to being released.

I just upped my pledge. Absolutely amazed at this Kickstarter. I was really pessimistic last week, so glad I was wrong.

This is only the 2nd kickstarter I've backed, after The Long Dark. It seems like this is a huge success story - is this kind of last minute turnaround rare for these things?
