Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

Hadn't seen the artist list until today (which got a thumbs up), and although I didn't love Frequency/Amplitude I liked both enough to try and get this one past the goalpost, so backed.

I want that vinyl so much...just not 200$ so much. Still, upped my pledge.

I was thinking of doubling my pledge, but I don't really have any use for the vinyl. Maybe I should double it and then give away the vinyl once I get it. Do a little giveaway for the GAFfers who pledged. Would you guys be interested?

I put up $200 myself, but the idea of a lucky gaffer getting the vinyl is awesome!

I have to admit, when it went up, saw the 18 day deadline (man I can't believe May is almost over), and thought there was little chance of this making it, but backed the early bird tier anyway. It's honestly kind of refreshing to see I could be wrong. Crazy to see it at $700k with a little more than a day left.

Umm... Yes.

That would be truly awesome. I'm salivating over the vinyl, but cannot up from $100 to $200 :(

To prove my point:

Tracking down the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack last month was a pain in the ass during Record Store Day, but I had to have it :) Also pictured: A ton of Jim Guthrie vinyl :)

Sure :)

we're going to have to quote all the non-believers after this gets funded.

I was a non-believer up until two days ago. We had less than a week to go without it being even half-funded. This turn around is AMAZING.

Done. Once they ship out the vinyl, we'll do a giveaway of my copy. Only for people who can prove they pledged! So go pledge. It doesn't matter how much. Any pledge gets you into the drawing.

I'm very surprised about this turnaround. It might (just) make it now.
How did they do it you think? I think there were some huge backers on May 19+, with $170 backer average.

I will definitely try my hand at that drawing then, lol

But more importantly, I want this kickstarter to be successful so bad...it's so close!

Hell yes! ^_^

There's no reason to really stress it at this point IMO. I don't think a kickstarter has ever made 90%+ of it's goal without hitting the full 100%. Shit, if it gets down to the wire I wouldn't be surprised if Harmonix themselves (or sony or whoever) kicked in the last few thousand just to get it clear.

Pretty sure that's against the rules of Kickstarter. The people behind the project can't push it past the goal like that. And I'm pretty sure Sony can't just suddenly throw around thousands of dollars.

My heart. I can't breathe. Send help. :D

Pleaaaase press more copies of the vinyl for sale later!

As far as I know, vinyl pressing plants will charge you guys an arm and a leg if you keep it below 500 copies (as it looks like right now), so maybe press a few more and sell them to us? Please? Look above, my Guthrie and Anamanaguchi collections need company and I don't think I can afford to up to $200 :(

Wasn't there an Ouya game that was very clearly funded by the people developing to get an Ouya publishing deal? I'm pretty sure I remember Kickstarter's official stance on that being "Fuck y'all, I got mine"

Well, Sony emplyoees (Shu, House, Boyes etc.) could always chip in as "private" pledges although they get the $ from Sony.

I'm surprised other studios haven't done something like insomniac.

Harmonix seems really well like by everybody in the gaming community (they're probably in my top 3 developers but I've not been able to play their last few, no kinnect :()

Just so I get it, does that mean Sony Cannot legally pitch in the remaining $70k, or they just cannot afford to do it?

There's two issues with it, one legal, one functional.

* It's against KS's T&Cs
* An individual pledger cannot pledge more than $10k

The latter can be worked around, the former depends somewhat on how heavily KS pushes their T&Cs.

Besides, don't worry. It'll get to $900kish.

We'll see! I'm not exactly sure how that would work, as the artists have agreed to allowing us to press that as part of the reward, but not as part of a consumer product. If that makes sense. Something we could revisit, I'd imagine, but one thing at a time!

Cool PlayStation Blog post we were able to get up that has some cool "Origin" info on the original game:

My favorite image is of the title screen for an in-development build of Amplitude that showed it as "FreQuency 2." We actually found that YESTERDAY.

And before anyone gets into it again and starts throwing around conspiracy theories, this doesn't mean Sony's funding the game or whatever. They've been very supportive in helping us promote the Kickstarter and we super appreciate it.

This is awesome dude. Already pledged, of course, but this is awesome of you!

That makes sense, thank you for the breakdown.

I have no interest in the vinyl, but that PS2 case would look damn good next to my copies of Freq & Amp.

Also, despite my griping early on, I always wanted this, and badly. I just felt it was being very poorly handled. I could not be happier that HMX stepped their game up.
