Cinescape is reporting that Eric Bana will not return for the new HULK film project. This was widely conjectured after Avi Arad's announcement that the film...now called THE INCREDIBLE HULK...would be a remake rather an a continuation. Although...the story claims the film's exodus from Universal (with whom Bana had his contract) is to blame for the recasting.

The article indicates that Brendan Fraser is one of the names being bandied about to replace Bana. Ther are about ten million things wrong with this notion...and I could write about them all day...but it's the 4th of July and I don't want to be too depressed.

The Hulk was one of my favorite comic book films. No where near Batman Begins, Spider-Man, and now Superman...but I appreciate the effort Ang Lee put into the film and his amazing direction.

To me the important news isn't the actor they are considering for the role, it's that they are thinking about making it from the begining AGAIN! What the hell are they thinking?

Brendan Fraser is, in fact, a rather good actor (much better then many take him for), but I don’t really see him as the Hulk…

I remember reading that Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch stylized the Ultimates Banner after Steve Buscemi. I think he would make a good Bruce Banner.

I also stated that it was no where near Batman Begins. While most people didn't enjoy the movie there is still many people who appreciated what Lee tried to do, and even so made it look beautiful.

you mean Jennifer Connelly? because that's the only thing beautiful about Hulk .......yeah she is beautiful alright, much better than Katie Holmes

That too, but I'm not talking about the films plot..the way he directed it tops most movies of that year.

Brandon Frazer likes to goof around and people like to dismiss him because of Encino Man, but he was awesome in School Ties, a little know movie with him being a jewish guy from a poor 'hood going to an elite college in the late '40, and he has to deal with other students who threat him like shit.

An excellent movie that I recommend to everyone!

I liked the first one enough to not want a remake with Brendan Fraser as the Hulk. :lol

I agree that he isn't a bad actor, but after being in both Mummy flicks, George of the Jungle, etc., I just cannot take him seriously.

Whoa what?! You're downing a movie for TRYING TO BE GOOD? Holy crap, no wonder most summer movies have turned into complete piles of shit.

Hulk was good enough, I liked that Ang Lee took the story and the characters seriously. A reboot is really not needed.

I think the bottom line is that Marvel realized that the movie was just NOT FUN, it's a sappy drama movie. Hulk suppose to smash!!! But Ang's Hulk is whiny 'oh-I-can't-live-without-my-girlfriend' boy

That's Hulk, too.

I liked Ang Lee's Hulk, but audiences did not (word of mouth was atrocious), and I think that any attempt at an actual sequel will bomb miserably. I don't think Arad's off the mark.

they should make it a sequel to the TV show (unless in the finale to the tv show Banner dies or something, i dont' know). Just have Banner/Hulk stumble into some troubled little town and wreck shit up for 90 minutes. Cut and print.

Am I in the wrong to assume this remake isn't coming for a couple more years ? If it came out prior to 2008 too many people would still recall the original much like the initial lukewarm batman begins reception.

I'm in the camp of dislike with Hulk for sure. I applaud it for attempting to by stylish and have more to it then just typical comic book campyness but it failed, failed miserably. If they'd simply taken out the whole hulk gene storyline, bruce banners dad, and even having a nemesis it would have been better. Treat the Hulk like the natural disaster with legs that he is and let it be, the movie worked great when it was banner running from general ross and fighting off tanks but not so much against hulk dogs and electrical cord biting fathers.

Good.

I'm not a hard man to entertain. The Hulk was some straight trash. I can enjoy a bad movie. But a boring one is unforgivable.

i think i can deal with it if they have all the origin stuff packed into at most 30 minutes of it rather than dispersed throughout the full 2.5 hours like the other one.

then we can get on with some actual Hulk destruction.

I for one also appreciated what Ang Lee tried to do with the Hulk, but honestly that movie was a god awful, slow-moving piece of drek. Not helped much by the
father versus son
ending, which negated any good that the film managed to muster up :/

I hope The Incredible Hulk is a low budget straight-to-video movie, so I can just forget it after roughly a week of crappy commercials on Comedy Central @ 2 am >:/

Shit, all these people that think the Hulk movie is boring must have been in a coma during Superman Returns. The Hulk had some pretty awesome set peices, and a rambling loony Nick Nolte >>>> the entire Superman Returns cast. I thought Banna was decent, the weak link was Connoly ( hey I love her as much as the next geek), she was just boring.

the nick nolte thing just ruined the whole movie, especially with that cluster**** of a final battle at the end.

just give me Hulk smashing shit up, and beating up bad guys in super slowmo like the tv show (and, of couse, the sad piano theme at the end)

The last TV movie's title was The Death of the Incredible Hulk. He fell off a plane and died. Cue lonely piano music.

I'm with DaMan, the Hulk was far more exciting than Superman Returns was although I liked both movies. What I don't understand is why waste time retelling the origin when you have it out of the way? Hulk 2 could be all about Hulk and Abomination smashing shit up, giving us all of the action we ever need and ensuring hundreds of millions in revenue. Blah.

Origin stories dont have to be boring ( from recent memory Kill Bill Vol 2 was handled well), but when you:

a) KNOW 90% of what happened ( comic book mythos) - Batman Begins is about as well as you can handle it, but even then that section of the movie weighs the movie down a touch.

b) There was a already a movie telling the same story 5 years ago.

its just stupid.

The only way I would tolerate it is if they do a montage during the opening credits.

For the record I like Superman Returns - its still a boring movie though :P
