Searched and didn't find this posted. Take this with a grain of salt as it is from Aintitcoolnews, but they apparently know whos playing Tony Stark:

It's Mr. Rehab himself, Robert Downe Jr. Interesting choice, if a little bit old for tony stark but considering how much of an asshole he is in the comics recently, i think it's a decent choice.

Robert Downey Jr., action hero.

It doesn't sound right, but the guy is an immense talent and he's not going to be doing much butt-kicking outside the suit. Heck, I've heard of worse ideas.

I like it. My only problem is the 'stache. Tony Stark has probably the snappiest mustache in comics. I dunno if Downey can pull it off...

Great choice. Downey Jr. knows his stuff, and he can play a great Tony Stark, specially with his drinking problem in the sequel. Good call. For those that don't know how Stark looks like, and for some comparison:

Downey with a stache and a black eye. :lol

Against all odds, I was kinda hoping for Vince Vaughn. He would have been a kickass (and hilarious) rich playboy/drunkard Tony Stark...

I don't like the shape of his head. Should've gone with an unknown. Tony Stark is strapping and handsome, neither of which describe Robert Downy Jr.

This is the only accurate portrayed he might be able to pull off:

Seems like a great choice for me. But still, this will not deliver (not one comic movie has yet imo), I'll watch it nevertheless.

Somehow I already fear they'll cut the drinking out of the movie... ISN'T SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT THE CHILDREN ???

Actually, the alcoholism won't be prominent in the movie, but it will be mentioned. They are gonna deal with that in the second movie. Drunk Tony FTW.
