DC Studios: Pattinson will not be the DCU Batman

Look at this point, it feels as though the sequel to “the Batman” will be the end of that particular series. IF it even releases! The longer this goes, i think they will reboot Batman again with Brave and Bold, and cancel the sequel to The Batman.

Truthfully, after watching the Batman a few times, the movie should be top tier, and it just isn’t. Something is not clicking with this movie and feels “off”. I can’t place my finger on it, but it is not an enjoyable experience. It is also the first Batman movie I found disturbing, so that may have something to do with it.

Finally, it may be worth noting with money seemingly being tight at Time Warner, DC movies and tv shows may be on a short lease. Fringe projects or movies not expected to make a return on investment, could face cancelation.

IF, *BIG IF* Superman bombs at the box office, i fully expect Time Warner will approach Apple, Disney and Amazon about the sale of DC.

Oh boy, where do I even begin? The idea that The Batman sequel is on the chopping block already is pure speculation based on nothing solid. The Penguin series alone proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have big, long term plans for this world. It’s a clear investment in expanding the universe that The Batman created

It’s clear the direction they’re taking with this Batman is far from over, and to say it's doomed is nothing but lazy, uninformed doom mongering 🤡

Feb 13, 2025:

The Batman was a success, and no amount of internet speculation is going to change that. I really doubt they are going to throw everything out for a Brave and Bold reboot

And do you honestly think Warner Bros. is going to just sell off one of the biggest superhero franchises on the planet because one movie from the James Gunn era underperforms? That’s a major overreaction

As you said, where do I begin…

I’m not saying it will be canceled. Just COULD BE canceled.

What is the earliest release date now 2027?

A lot could change between now and then. Everything they have given the public so get is PR speak.

I didn’t deny the first Batman made money, it did. I just don’t remember hype around it.

As for the sale, I’m not saying it would be sold. But clearly you should look more into the overall health of Warner Bros. Which isn’t terrible, but it isn’t strong either. Overpaying on CNN content and losing the NBA coverage hurt Warner Bros.

Anyway, regardless. This is conversation in a forum. And it was my and your opinion only.

This is the part where I lament for the 100th time that Pattinson wasn't cast as Terry McGinnis with Keaton as old Bruce.

That actually would have been the better route in hindsight. I value the Batfamily (Nightwing, Robins, Batgirls, etc.) over Terry as in the DCAU it always felt his place came at the expanse of the former (as the DCAU Bruce ends up alienating all of his allies by the time of Beyond, which even feels contrived given where we left him at the end of JLU), but by placing it in a clear Elseworlds series, they could do Batman Beyond films without running the risk of it messing with the canon of the primary DCU.

In fact, the Batman Beyond movie could even clearly say in his past that Bruce had no Batfamily allies in his fight against crime (so not counting Gordon, Alfred, etc.), so when the Brave and the Bold movie begins with introducing Damian Wayne and having an established Batfamily, viewers will know immediately the Beyond movie is its own canon.
