Weird, Puzzle Craft is incompatible with ALL my devices. :( Oh well. I am a bit tired of Bejeweled clones anyway. lol

Edit: Oh, a country restriction. Can't download in USA, I guess.

Despite being called "Super Monkey Ball 2" it's an original game, not a port of the GC game.
Wish it was ported for a platform with joysticks, the game is pretty good but I'm not a fan of gyro sensor gameplay.

That's pretty awesome. SEGA really seems to take Android seriously (though I still wish that SMB had the level of control customization as Virtua Tennis, which has at least three different control modes). I rarely buy anything on Android, but I bought quite a few SEGA games.

I'm pretty good at Bejeweled 2,bur can't play Blitz for the heck of it. My scores are terrible. Just strange, lol.

I think it's because they put too much emphasis on the special gems and whatnot for the higher scores. It's really tough getting good scores without them... I get pretty shitty scores as well and I play Bejeweled 3 like a champ.

If you guys like match 3 games try Puzzle and Dragon. It's bejeweled, pokemon and an dungeon crawler in one. Addictive as hell and has an active community thread.

Here

It has IAP but I've put in dozens of hours and haven't spent a dollar.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually gave Puzzle and Dragon a try a couple weeks ago, and it was pretty fun, but just not for me. I couldn't get past the aesthetic choices for the game, and they really wanted you to "network" in the game, which I wasn't feeling. Still, I could see how it would be a really addictive game. Gotta catch em all, right? I've been trying Blood Brothers, which has a similar feel in some ways, but I'm not sure if I like it yet.

I've been playing a bunch of Puzzlecraft too, and I was worried that the IAP would be bad. However I'm probably 8 - 10 hours in, and I haven't even felt close to restrained in my moves or actions yet, to the point where I would consider IAP. The game makes it really easy to stay away from IAP if you are a half decent player and don't care about cosmetic items like flowers and stuff.

Definitely worth checking out, the only other Match 3 style game I like more is Dungeon Raid.

^ yup, that's the thing i liked about it, the IAP is not intrusive at all, and all the click-the-drops-from-the-buildings are actually useful.

played Dungeon Raid before, i loved that game. (might still go back)

Tekken Card Tournament is still on my phone, but not playing it that much. It has some good ideas, but feels like a bit unbalanced to me.
And fairly limited card selection

Tried Puzzles & Dragons, but feels too chaotic (and messy, probably the whole UI/game structure is too complicated for me)

dang i miss puzzle quest.

Oh man, I was a huge Puzzle Quest fan when it came out on PC too. Spent so many hours on that game. I noticed they have PQ2 on the Play Store. Do you know if it's any good?

I remember getting bored with Puzzle Quest 2 on the DS (I finished the first one at least 4 times on the PSP). PQ2 on Android seems to have some free gameplay. Maybe you can play that and decide.

Well I bought it...and it doesn't work on my phone. Ugh. Amazon told me it worked but there was a pop up that said it was untested on my phone when I booted it up. So I try to do the tutorial...can't create any objects. Im quite upset even though it's only a dollar.

I tried it on a Nexus 10 and got that same message, but it worked fine for me.

Can you still redownload the promo version at a later date once it has been removed from the store if you claim it for your account now?

Also, Google really needs to get rid of this absurd rule of not letting a free app go paid later on. It's just stupid.

You can. I got The Curse when it was free at Christmas. The app is available to download from the My Apps section of the Play Store even though I don't have it installed right now. Interestingly, it's now called the April Fools version or something along those lines with a date of April 5th as the most recent version. That means they can update Carmageddon or run this promo again by temporarily relisting it in the future if they want to.

I hope I'm wrong but even if it's only for one day, I think this free version is really going to hurt the sales.

The game doesn't control very well :( I wonder if this is an issue with the original game too.

If you mean the horrible way the cars handle going down the road? Yeah, pretty sure that's how the original played. You have to learn to use it to your advantage and/or upgrade your car or unlock the other cars, most of which do handle better.

Either way it goes, the game is an absolute blast! I forgot how much fun it is! Runs perfectly on an AOSP flashed Verizon Note 2*.

*side note: I have both the cpu and gpu overclocked so your results may vary.

Man, I love how silky smooth Carmageddon runs - I would KILL for a port of CM2! Easily the best game in the series.

First thing I did was run over all the players in the football stadium :)

It's just the way Carmageddon is, but having played the games so much over the years on a whole variety of platforms I really don't notice it all that much - I thought the controls were really well implemented in this version, although, as Muntu said above, the buttons could do with being a tad bigger.

Yeah, this. It can seem hard as hell trying to waste opponents at first, but once you've gotten used to the way the cars handle it'll be much easier.

Carmageddon is up on the Playstore :-

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stainlessgames.carmageddonpromo

there are two versions, the free promo version and the paid version. The free promo version is exactly the same as the paid version (and will probably be removed after 24 hours) so grab it whilst you can.

List of supported devices here :-

Aww man, my Desire HD isn't supported. But I downloaded it anyway, when I do get a new device I can still play it.

It does play the intro movie though...

Yup I got that game too and you're right. You can see the store page on your device even after it is actually removed from the store.

I did play it last night and... well... it's a pretty shit game. And I actually did enjoy it back in the day. One of those cases where nostalgia is shattered by reality.

I posted this in the Game Dev Story OT but then I realized this place gets more traffic.

So I was hoping some nice person could help me with this problem I'm having: Every time I receive a fan letter, I get an error message after I close the the letter, and the game crashes. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have a fix? I'm using the Android version, Galaxy S3, Jelly Bean.

Spent a huge chunk of the weekend playing Carmageddon.

Absolutely fantastic; for the nostalgia alone, it has been such a buzz!

Sucks the battery dry pretty quickly, but damn this is going to be fun. Definitely going for 100% haha!

If you're not playing it, Pixel Dungeon (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watabou.pixeldungeon&hl=en) has gotten some substantial updates/additions in the past few months. It's still an incredibly punishing roguelike, but has many more features and elements than it started out with. It is by far my most-played game on my VZW GN.

Yeah after an adjustment period it feels just like playing it on PC all those years ago. I spent way too much time playing Carmageddon on my Nexus 7 on the weekend, done around 15 races and unlocked a bunch of cars. Can't wait to unlock the Police truck, makes takedowns so easy.

Punishing is putting it lightly lol. I've made it past the first boss a grand total of 2 times in the 100s of attempts I've made. Great game but holy crap.

The furthest I've ever gotten is to Floor 14, and that's only because I chanced into a great weapon, great armor, a bunch of Strength Potions and Healing Potions.

But then there's the times I don't even get halfway through Floor 1 before getting decimated.

yep pixel dungeon is great. that guy is cranking out the free updates.

no special permissions, free, and great touch screen controls. great game.

Been playing a lot of Carmageddon. Great port!

Also toying around with RetroArch today. Seems to be a better solution than all of the -oid emulators

I downloaded Kemco's RPG Silver Nornir, and for some reason, I can't get it to work. It does a license check then boots to a white screen. Wonder what's up...(my phone is a Nexus S 4G)

Downloaded Pixel Dungeon last night on the recommendations in here. Only had one game fater I finished up with Carmageddon, but it looks like PD will be my next addiction. Awesome.

Please don't buy it. I would transfer my purchase to any of you if I could, but the next best thing I can do is advicing against buying it.

What good P/C adventure games are out for android? I have broken sword.

Adventure Game Studios games all play on Android, though sometimes there are mechanics that may not work with the touch screen. Ben There, Dan That, Wadjet Eye stuff (Gemini Rue, Resonance, the Blackwell series, etc), tons of freeware on the AGS site, and more are available this way. The last time I tried the Wadjet Eye games on Steam didn't work correctly because it would throw an error trying to figure out what to do about Steam achievements, but DRM free copies like the ones you get in bundles or directly from the dev can just be copied over to the device.

You can get the .apk here.

ScummVM is also on Android for old LucasArts and other games supported by it.

Yesterday from Pendulo

I downloaded Fester Mudd: Episode 1 the other day but haven't had a chance to try it yet. It looks like it might be a short first episode, maybe released as a demo with the future episodes costing something. I haven't seen much about it yet to know.

Thanks I played most of the wadjet games on my pc, but I'll definitely check out the others.

Edit: whoa, book marking that AGS site.

Any idea what's different between the free and the premium game? I'd download it and see for myself but it's 1 GB and I'd rather do it over wifi.
