Android Gaming Thread New OP

Smaller userbase with easier piracy.

Though this also results in more devs having ad supported free versions of their full games.

This. There was an article due not to long ago that interviewed several iOS game companies and asking them why they didn't create games for both platforms and the answer from all of them was piracy. It's just so much easier to pirate games on the android vs jail breaking an iOS device and playing them.

Though it's gotten better it still has a long way to go to match or surpass gaming on the iOS, which I hope it does as I'm a huge support of Android (3 phones, 2 tablets and counting).

I just purchased, INC, holy crap is the game hard and fun, I am on an orangepixel kick at the moment, have most of the games on free ad supported, I am going to purchase. stardash and Meganoid next, some great oldschool platforming...

BTW any cave story alike on the Android?

I have discovered the world of Snesoid. OH MY GOD.

What is the best PSX emulator?

FPSE , you have to install the bios though.

Can you link to that? I can't seem to find it on the Market.

Also Train Crisis HD is a ton of fun. Just found it last week and I'm loving it. Difficult at times for sure but very rewarding for me personally.

I tried playing Symphony of the Night on my Galaxy Nexus and the game ran at 60 fps but then dropped to about 25 fps every 10 seconds or so, which made the game unplayable :(

This didn't happen on psx4droid.

Also I think some of the menu options might have been missing. Reading through the help some of the stuff that should be in the menus didn't seem to be there. I wonder if this is a problem with ICS or what

Is it supposed to run extremly slow with the OpenGL plugin?

Without it it looks like its rendering at 320x240 resolution, with it it looks something like 1080p downscaled with some AA applied, so it would obviously run slow.

Is there no middle ground?

SNESoid, NESoid, GENSoid

its all so good :D

those emulators almost make an xperia play worth the purchase.
Those are PSX emulators?

Hey guys, we've released some updates over the last while that you might be interested in.

There have been updates for Flick Kick Field Goal and Kickoff, adding Gamefeed, fixing stability issues, and extending compatibility.

Flick Kick Rugby and Kickoff have each got similar updates, as well as the addition of Precision Mode, and the refining of Sudden Death Mode.

Flick Kick Football and Kickoff got stability fixes, including fixing a problem with force-closures on some Galaxy devices, and the addition of Gamefeed. Football Kickoff also got Bullseye Mode and the achievements to go with it (a favourite of mine).

If you have any trouble with anything of ours email us at support at pikpok.com with the details of the device and firmware/software involved. You can email us even if you're not having trouble. I love hearing from gamers about our stuff, be it good news or bad, so don't hesitate to get in touch.

The trailer for my next game just made it to Indiegames.com somehow, so I guess it's time to start pimping the game a bit here as well.

I've been talking about this game for a while in the indie development thread. The game is a pretty straight forward 2.5D megaman clone, set in the old west. I first started this project years ago and my goal was to make something very traditional without any gameplay gimmicks and just focus on the craftmanship. Obviously I haven't worked on it full time since then though; after many years of hiatus I picked up the production a while after I released Helium Boy in october last year.

The game is nearly done and will be out in about one month hopefully. It will support Xperia play, gamegripper, wiimote and whatever other controller options there are and the price will be around 1.99USD

I'm sure by now everyone is already aware how awesome Dungeon Raid is. Damn, I've been spending way too much time on this game, reminds me of Puzzle Quest quite a bit.

Which brings me to the topic, why isn't Puzzle Quest on iOS/Android?!

This is fantastic! I would only dare play it on my g2 with the gamegripper though. love the humor btw, and the art style is really excellent and unique!

Heads up, bunch of Android apps and games are 49 cents at the moment. http://www.androidcentral.com/bunch-apps-sale-today-49-cents Thought some might not be checking the Android OT so grab them while they're hot!

I guess this is the list of $0.49 sale items:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_2012_03_06_PlayAppsFavorites

Kairosoft's Pocket League Story is on the second page.

EDIT: Updated link, the new one has more stuff on the second page.

Thanks for the heads up. Thinking about Dead Space and PLS, but I won't ever finish them :-(. Looks like they're doing a 25c sale everyday for each category, too. Where's my Water is 25c today. Also, the e-book "extremely loud and incredibly close".

Dead Space and PLS are pretty damn awesome, their 25c sale sounds great. Can't wait!

I have to Dead Space for PS3 which is still unopened after over a year. I'll get to that sometime later. I picked up Shadowgun, World of Goo, and Where's my water, which are all really good.

Some of the free apps though that I've been playing are amazing. This is exactly why I don't understand the whole iOS has such a better gaming library bullshit. I'm willing to get bet that I'll find games just as fun as these free ones I've been playing, only there is probably just a bigger variety of them on iOS. I don't think that the games support should be deciding factor in choosing between that an Android based on what I've seen.

Anyways:

Cartoon Wars, Ninjump, Running Fred, Ceramic Destroyer, Zombie Dash, Defender, Shoot the Apple, Blast Monkeys..

Each of these are at least decent, and some of them are amazing. Also, these are all free! If you haven't get these.

My favorite free games right now are Cartoon Wars, Ceramic Destroyer, and Ninjump.

If you want a good where you can brag about scores to your friend, Ninjump is the best game for that.

For longer and deeper games, get Cartoon Wars, Defender, and Ceramic Destroyer

Google rebranded the Market to "Google Play" today, and there are a bunch of games and apps on sale. Picked up Dead space, Shadowgun, and Pocket League Story for 50 cents each!

How does Shadowgun run on the Galaxy Nexus (ignoring the bug where you can't use the left and right virtual sticks simultaneously, which should be fixed in the next Android update)? Also, is it any fun?

Been playing DrawSomething Free lately. Great little pictionary game with crossplatform support, with multiplayer a la Wordfeud (taking turns, so taking your time!) (What is this form of multiplayer called, anyway?)

Anyone here play Osmos?

I got it from the recent Android Humble Bundle (not sure if that's still going?) and it runs surprisingly clumsily on my Xperia Play. Does this game run smoothly for most of you?

I've loved the PC version for a long time, just wish I could enjoy it as much on mobile.

I'll get Shadowgun and maybe Dead Space, but I'm so tight that I'm going to wait a couple of days to check that the 49p apps don't become 20p daily deals (a la Steam sales).

Asynchronous multiplayer?

It's like a poor mans Gears of War, but I actually enjoyed it for the little I played it. The controls work well and the shooting is precise. I've only beat the first level and a boss. I have read that it's a 5 hour campaign. I can't tell if it's going to get a lot better, but so far I have only used one gun and I'm betting there will be plenty more weapons and hopefully more enemy types.

You guys should buy Asphalt 6 if you haven't. It's surprisingly a fun racing game and controls well, there is an issue if you have ICS or a Galaxy Nexus (in that game there's a bug with the accelerometer is broken). The alternative controls work very well too though it's still playable and fun, has local and online multiplayer and many nice looking car models.

Hmm, yeah... I mean, it's very cheap right now, so I guess trying it out couldn't hurt, but I still feel reluctant to pay for something that I don't know if I really want. I wish there were demos/trials for these advanced 3D games, but there almost never is.

I think that if you buy an app you can get a refund within 15 minutes of buying it.

will get simply because of xperia play button support. good luck

Always like sales on the Market or whatever they call it now.

Got Colosseum and Pocket League Story, so more games to play is always great.

Gun Bros is a very nice game too. Would be great if I could map my PS3 controller and and use that to control everything. That wouldn't even be fair for others though if I played deathmatch

yep.. got mine from the Amazon free app of the day...

btw
