Thanks I'll try this out. I was Hoping it would be like dead trigger with full support built in.

Edit: seems like this requires root :(

I havent tried it yet but i think i read wiimote+classic/pro controller can be done without root on S3.

im not rooting my verizon s3 until i get a stable offfical version of jellybean.

anybody playing any mmo's? post about the good ones.

i really wanna try order & chaos but waiting for them to update because i keep reading theres a bug that crashes it whenever u get a text message.

Although PopCap, *did* rip off Puzzloop with Zuma but the developers of the former couldn't afford to take any action in the US.

you'd think some lawyer would jump on the chance to get some money from them now, since EA owns Popcap.

Probably because Zuma is much closer in gameplay to Puzzloop 2, which Mitchell Corp. did not see fit to bring outside Japan. Puzzloop 1 is like a completely different game. It could be argued that without Zuma coming about, Puzzloop wouldn't have come outside Japan as Magnetica/Actionloop or even had any more sequels.

Has anyone played Virtua Tennis Challenge? Thinking of getting it now that it's on sale. I tried the demo, but since it's so short (basically just a few training events) it didn't really give me a sense of how the game would be in the long run.

Also, how is Super Monkey Ball 2? I loved the original SMB for the Gamecube back in the day, and it would be nice to have something like that on my phone.

Seriously where in the name of fuck is my proper civilization game for android? The market is ready for this. The multilayer community is ready for this. My hairy groin is ready for this. Make it happen already, EA.

Can you use something like this on a remote desktop app like Splashtop?

Playing PC games on the tablet using a controller would be awesome.

Not sure, haven't tried the thd gamepad version of splashtop because of the stupidity of it working only on a transformer. My brother has a nexus 7 and we can't even install the thing. Why bother calling it thd in the first place?

Heck I'm starting to get pissed at this whole tegra business. We have another good looking game from Phosphor (Horn) that works fine on old ipod/iphone devices, but only works on tegra2/3 hardware in the android world. Does that mean that my s3 is incapable of such visuals? And why the heck have they not updated Dead Trigger yet to allow non tegra devices access to its amazing Ultra settings mode? The thing works perfectly fine on my phone by editing its config file! So frustrating...

Just grabbed an S3 a couple days ago. Added Drop7, Jetpack Joyride, Orbital, Stupid Zombies and Temple Run.

Am considering either Epic Astro Story or Dungeon Village.

Where can I buy some Google Play gift cards?

Edit:

Looks like this is still new. It would be nice if I could pick one up before the end of the 4th.

My guess is yes.

I think here the 360 gamepad is connected to the pc. So you can be on the bathroom, and use your controller that's connected to your PC to play. You could do something like use programs such as Xpadder or Motion2Joy (I think that's the name) to setup your PS3 controller with your PC, and then play via Splashtop, with the controller being connected via PC again. This'd work for a good portion of one's home I guess.

I think it's possible to do it connecting the controllers to the tablet itself as well, but I don't know exactly how the Sixaxis app works so I'm not sure about it either. If it lets you emulate keyboard presses, then just use the combo above with Xpadder for example, emulate keyboard presses on the Sixaxis app, and play away.

It's definitely possible to get gaming with a controller via a remote desktop app. I'll definitely do it when I get my Nexus 7. But does Splashtop THD/2 not work with every Nexus 7? Because that sucks :/

Splashtop thd gamepad (the one you want I guess for game streaming) only works on the transformer prime I believe. Sucks I know

Download freeciv off the play store. Its not great but its the closest thing

I can't believe how poor N.O.V.A. 3 performs on an N7, surely it needs optimising for that device in particular as the specs seem more than sufficient?

Decided to get both of them (even though SMB2 isn't actually on sale), and they both seem to be pretty damn good phone-sized versions of their respective franchises. The swipe controls of Virtua Tennis can be a little quirky, but they work well and feel intuitive once you get used to them (there are also a couple of virtual gamepad layouts to choose from if one prefers that). SMB2 feels like a SMB game should, although I kind of wish there was an option for touch controls (not because the tilt controls don't work well - they do - but because you sometimes have to tilt the phone so much the screen becomes a bit too angled away from you). Both games run fine on the GNex.

BTW, I love how the return window on Googe Play is 15 minutes, when some large games take about that long to just download and get running. I get that the return policy is really just meant for you to make sure the game actually works on your phone, not extensive testing, but I still think it should be at least 30 minutes.

If anyone is interested in having a really decent tennis game on their phone, you should pick up Virtua Tennis Challenge now that it's on sale. Definitely worth the money.

After switching from the default swipe controls (which work well in some situations, but can really mess your game up in others) to one of the virtual gamepad layouts (I usually really dislike those, but it works well in this game), it really feels like having an almost-console-quality tennis game in your hands. Looks pretty good too:

(I used my real name for my character, that's why I've erased it from this image.)

Hm, are there any action-RTSes on the system? Old examples would be Rescue Raiders or Herzog Zwei (more modern clones of those two would be Glory Days 2 and AirMech, respectively). I've seen some RR-clones on iOS but they weren't terribly fun (GD2's combat physics were way more fun than any iOS RR game I played).

I noticed Draw Race 2 is on sale for $1. Highly recommended. Such a great game, built from the ground up for touch. And tons of content. I've spent hours getting golds in all the races.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chillingo.drawrace2gplay.android.aja

Edit: I should say it's probably better on tablets, but I haven't played it on a phone to be sure.

I bought it yesterday, but it needs an additional data pack. Every time I try to download it from inside the game (very first EA logo) it gives me an error and says to try later. Shit EA Servers...

Draw Race is one of those games that fit the platform perfectly, and are awesome in their own right. I've never played the first, but am loving the second. Infact, I'd rank it right up there with Motorstorm r/c for the Vita.

Will second this. This is a quality game for Virtua Tennis fans and a steal at 99 cents.

Also, just grabbed Draw Race 2 for a buck...looking forward to trying this out.

i'll third this. Virtua Tennis is good with the pad controls. That would be great if it also supported PS3 via micro usb

I picked up Max Payne for $0.99. I'm downloading the Virtual Tennis games as well but why was I taxed for Max Payne and not the Virtua Tennis game? Also would it be possible to transfer the games to my SD card? My internal storage is getting hammered. 8GB only.

I think it has to do with who the seller is and what the address is of their office + where you live.

I'm starting to enjoy my tablet even more now that I got some good games on it. Anyone try the Wiimotecontroller app? I'm trying to work out how to get the classic controller to work with games that require the extra buttons. Got the Wii remote to work with Sonic CD and it works great.

How big is Virtua Tennis file size?

Shows as 384MB in the apps setting.

Anyone had success downloading the Draw Race 2 data file? I have been trying for days and only got errors.

I downloaded the full game yesterday with no issues.

In fact, the files finished downloading in 17 minutes (with my terrible internet). I know this because I was trying to test the game (using the 15 minute refund window), but the download didn't finish until after the refund window went away.

It's a fun game though, glad I got it.

GAF, what are some of the best cross platform (Android-iOS) asynchronous multiplayer games, besides the usual Words with Friends, Hanging with Friends, Draw Something etc?

Me and my friends are looking for some but are kinda burnt out on the big ones.

Well, another of the big ones but not one you listed; SongPop.

I really wish GameKlip would hurry up with their Nexus 7 model. I want to order that and the Galaxy Nexus one, but I don't want to pay double on shipping.

C'mon, GameKlip - I need you in my life :(

Jesus christ... SEGA just go from strength to strength on Android. Do they have some sweet-ass easy to use in-house Android game engine or something?

Look what they just dropped on the play store

Do let us know what you think!

Uninstall DOTA2, lol, nice. I love puzzle games. I just bought it

Are there any good, charming Civilization style games for Android? I see tons but I'm looking for something that's close to console quality in terms of presentation (just picked up a Nexus 7).

I'm also interested in this. It's irritating how difficult it is to find a comprehensive list of this type of game.

In response to Cudder, have you tried Uniwar?
