Android Gaming Thread New OP

Pudding monsters is fun. But the ad system in that game is abysmal. Bottom of screen strip ad. Then every other puzzle a VIDEO ad plays. Nonskippable

Is it bad/frown upon if I post about a game I made for the play store in this thread? I posted about it in the Indie Game Devs Thread but being that this is the Android Gaming "OT"...

Do it man, we're curious

Alright, I guess this is kind of a cross-post then:

It's a tile puzzle game with some beats thrown in the mix, the gameplay revolves mostly around finding the right path in a grid of tiles in order touch them all without repeating tiles or reaching a dead end, very much like some of the puzzles found in some of the GB Zeldas.

The game was made for the Square Enix Latin America contest, it lacks a little polish in some parts but development had to stop at some point for external reasons and we decided to release it as is, the game is free right now and may be staying like that or going paid, I'm not quite sure yet.

So there! worse thing is that I myself don't have an Android yet >_> plan to remedy this myself with the Nexus 4 in January

I don't have any Android device myself, but just letting everyone know that Final Fantasy II, Demons' Score and Final Fantasy Dimensions are available on Google Play. The latter apparently supports multiple languages, no idea about the other games though.

Final Fantasy II
Demons' Score
Final Fantasy Dimensions

Kind of bummed Demon's Score is Tegra only - then again, I'm not sure if I'd want to spend $20 on an Android game anyway.

I'd avoid the FFII port assuming it's as bad as the FFI port (II is a crappy game anyway so I wouldn't recommend it regardless :P )

Nice, no dodgy permissions, free (and no ads so far), nice music. Fun puzzle gameplay and good options.

After pressing play I wasn't sure what the two icons that popup represent and was a bit confused. Not for much longer afterwards.

When you said lacked polish I was expecting something else - this is quality and with tiny improvements that I can't come up with after only a few minutes of playing - I'd say start charging! Left a short review.

To the guy who really liked Flow / Huebrix, definitely check it out.

I picked up Blazing Star for my N7 and haven't noticed any real lag. I've only played the first level but it was pretty fun. Lots of nice little sprite details.

Wasn't talking about framerate but input lag....but I just gave it another go, and you (and Taco_Human) are right, seems fine :S

Movement doesn't follow your finger how I'd like (probably slow movement speed) but it was different last time...will update my review and post.

I'm going hoping when I get home to try it out that it will support controllers.

Man, I'm really hoping Batman joins this huge list of great Xmas sales!

The look immediately drew me in. Downloading now.

Going to read through this thread a bit now - but while I do, can anyone recommend a good MMORPG to play? Even just an RPG - something preferably with randomized loot, but if not, heavy customization. Good with single or party play, ideally action oriented but I can do turn based as well. Willing to pay a couple of bucks.

edit: To clarify, pen and paper I'm still playing, but winding down on (second playthrough now) and pocket RPG was a blast. I really do want some good MMO though.

I guess I'm giving myself bad PR then :P but thanks a lot for checking it out! Really glad to hear your impressions and yeah, I guess the two icons at the start don't say a lot but since there is nowhere else to go from there we figured there wasn't a lot of problem with it.

Thanks, thats nice to hear for a programmer art :D

Order & Chaos is legitimately decent. Arcane Legends is a good Diablo mmo ripoff.

I see that Dimensions finally arrived on Android with a more welcoming price point. Has anyone tried it on the Nexus 7? I am just worried about the games either not working well or scaling that well on the nexus. The same applies for other SE games on the nexus 7.
I suppose I should also ask here about what OTG cables to get (got my nexus rooted yesterday), apps for controllers and so on.

Final Fantasy II
Demons' Score
Final Fantasy Dimensions

FYI, the non-Japanese version of Demons' Score has a different ID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.demonsgp

Kind of bummed Demon's Score is Tegra only - then again, I'm not sure if I'd want to spend $20 on an Android game anyway.

$20 is a steal compared to what you had to pay for the iOS version at launch: $6.99 for half the game and nearly $40 more to unlock the rest of the game. It's currently on sale though, and the costs currently add up to about $18 assuming you didn't buy the base game before the sale.

Oh well so I couldnt wait so I bought Dimensions. Will follow up with impressions (I have played the prologue on an iphone 4). I am curious about Chaos Ring but I am reading about problems with the game on rooted devices (maybe it has been fixed, who knows).

What is this Final Fantasy Dimensions? It's the first time that I hear its name :p

It is a port of a mobile phone game (previously japan exclusive) FF spin off that draws inspiration from the classic crystal themed FF games. It has a job system which a lot like FF 5 but with certain restrictions of how to relocate the job points. I didn't like the prologue much but gave it a chance and bought it now. It has a great soundtrack and many gaffers seem to like it.

There's also an OT in the community thread. I think I might pick it up, but looks like this is the non-sale price so I'll probably hold off for a bit.

sales for Square Enix games (Chrono Trigger is at 6.99 $ instead of 9.99 $ for example)
gameloft too for some games (Wild Blood too)

at work so no link but there may be some more sales :)

(plants vs Zombies at 0.99 $ again too )

Yeah it seems like it, but considering it being sold for around 30 - 35 dollars on the IOS store to begin with this is a steal for me (as I am currently able to use the US google play store).

Just wanna say that the Note II is pretty damn great for Android gaming. The screen is such a perfect size - you can still see most of the display even with your fingers on the screen during a dual stick shmup for example. And the AMOLED is just brilliant. This thing has handily replaced my iPad and iPod Touch, and hey it's a damn good phone too. =P

Purchased my girlfriend a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, and all she's doing with it is playing Tomb Chaser or whatever that game is where the pack of monkeys is chasing a fake Drake.

Eventually, she'll start using the tablet for more serious purposes, but I want her to play games that are of good quality. Can someone recommend a fleshed-out game that is easily accessible to a fan of Tomb Monkeys and Angry Birds? I'm trying to transform her to a more hardcore gamer, but it's hard :(

I was gonna buy pvz, but reviewers are saying it's not a complete version? What gives

It's alright to pimp your own game a bit, yeah? (Especially since I have not see any mentions yet)

Because my company recently released the Android version of Diamond Dash!

Been hammering out the bugs over the past two weeks like crazy, but it's awesome to see so much positive feedback.

Bad Piggies.

Heads up for anyone who ordered a moga controller last week:

Apparently the shipment number Power-A gives you is missing the last two digits. DK745 on CAG pointed this out and said you can call them to get the last two digits or you can just type in numbers until you see your package (Thanks litobirdy). I just plugged numbers in until I got to my order. Make sure you look at the destination. I saw many packages from CA, WI, IN, FL, WV before I hit 63 (my package). It should be delivered tomorrow.

Sword & Sworcery and Jurassic Park Builder have arrived.

My five year old has a level 28 park over on the iPad, and now that it is out on Android I may be able to get rid of it and get him a Nexus 7 of his own. He absolutely adores that game.

They won't leave us alone with these sales! Even Tetris and PvZ!

Any reason not to get them? - tetris doesn't have endless mode - even though it says "ENDLESS HOURS OF FUN IN MULTIPLE MODES" lol, bastards EA.

Probably grabbing Super Monkey Ball, Max Payne and GTA III too

Office Suit Pro 6 is $1 too

Picked up GTAIII, PvZ, SMB2, S:S&S and Max Payne too.

Need a new memory card soon, any recommendations? (Note II)

Also how does AdAway work? I got my phone abroad so forget warranty for rooting anyway (was no international warranty) - but does it just disconnect your internet when an app launches? That means no receiving messages ... (sms would still work but chat and email etc).. I know some games annoyingly don't launch without internet access too. On the description it says it works by editing the host file.. wow it can capture requests to a file so you can add them in, ok that is pretty cool. Bit too much effort since I tend to just avoid ad games altogether, maybe down the line.

Where my new sales at :(

Btw this is a decent visualizer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.psperl.projectM

I also had a lot of fun with Max Payne, still getting used to GTAIII, Super Monkey Ball 2 is better (for the price) than the Vita version too imo. @The Horror the horror - I haven't seen the first one on the store.

If android got Tilt to live, Minigore, (the first running game from jetpack guys) and in my dreams, Ahhhhhh F=MA then I would be able to completely forget about my iPhone.

just purchased wild blood. had to clear out a few installed games to free up space. had a quick bash. game looks amazing on my s2. seems like a nice god of war clone. for 69p i cant complain.

Is Avenger's Initiative worth buying? I see both it and Wild Blood are on sale for £0.69 right now. I'm tempted by Max Payne and Super Monkey Ball 2 as well.

Anybody here use both FPSE and ePSXe? I'm wondering which one would be the best one to get now that it seems ePSXe supports opengl like FPSE. Trying to find video reviews seem to point to setup guides or grey areas.

I have both and I would probably recommended epsxe as it has the most accurate emulation and it is very simple to use. There's is no need to mess with the settings to get it right. With FPSE I wouldn't have accurate sound.

Anyone recommended any GBA emulators?
