submitted our game to Amazon App Store recently and it went live about a week ago - I just requested (for paid version) to be considered for Free App of the Day, wish me luck! Has anyone heard any stories of people who've tried to do that?

Also getting underway with some new projects, finally. Got a very interesting side-scroller in the works - I think you guys will really dig this one.

And for the definition of "available" that is "if you're in the US". Bloody Amazon.

Google is your friend, you might want to ask it "how you access the amazon appstore outside the US" you never know you might be pleasantly surprised by the answer.

I'm in Canada, used the guide with fake U.S. info, and it STILL blocked me out.

It must be detecting my IP :/

We patched Cubes Pro this week...3 new courses, including the inclusion of difference sized cubes, which leads to some pretty fun action. We're working on getting out an "HD" version for tablets as well. Of course we still have OpenFeint leaderboards in Pro as well, and custom soundtracks coming very soon.

And it seems that this APK has already leaked out in the pirated realm within 24 hours. I guess it's kind of a compliment in a weird way.

Just wanted to give a shout out to your game wondermega, it is fantastic. I downloaded it off the Android marketplace this morning and damn it is addictive. We are talking "bejeweled" level of addictiveness here. I even missed my bus playing this game at the bus stop.

Really looking forward to seeing what other stuff you come up with.

I am in the UK here and not having any problems, I remember reading a few Canadians were having difficulty.

I just got my membership approved a few days ago, and I guess it looks rather bad to instantly start plugging my games here, but I'm a whore so I don't care :-P

A few months ago I released this game:

It's a game where you pull down people's pants.

I've never really been into mobile games and I didn't have much faith in the market, but when I got the idea for this game I felt it might just be silly enough to become a hit with the fart-app-demographic, so I just had to make it. Spent about two months working on it on my free time, though I really rushed it out in the end, so the quality isn't that great, and there isn't that much gameplay.

It's hasn't exactly made me rich but it's starting to sell pretty decently, and I'm hoping I can make a (meager) living on android/iphone games after I release a few more titles. I'll probably stick to a bit more conventional games in the future though; I have some projects planned but haven't really started on any of them.

There's a free demo available, although it's severely gimped. There's also a version available for iPhone, but because of Apple's review policies it's completely different. The first version was considered pornographic so I gradually censored it more and more and eventually changed the game completely before it was approved.

Cut The Rope is now available on Android.

Free this week on GetJar. Just installed it.
Great addition to Android gaming selection.

Cut the Rope debuts on Android, free for one week

Why are developers so keen on making their own appstores?

Just use the goddamn Android Market. I'm now watching some GetJar downloader icon spin around without any indication of: a) if Cut the Rope is actually downloading, b) if so, its progress

So stupid.

I hear you, and I am of two minds on the subject. As a user, I'd want a single unified store (iTunes) to get everything from since it's the easiest, quickest, cleanest way to deal with the process.

However, as a developer I am realizing more and more that more stores equals MUCH more chance for exposure to my product. I've done my time on iTunes, and dealing with Apple (for better or worse) is truly a crapshoot for a tiny guy like me. The odds that I can potentially get some actual feature/promotion when I am dealing with a lot more of these smaller/middling stores is far more comforting, as to be honest it really is the hardest part of the whole process.

Anyway, I'll always do my best to have my apps available on the highest-visibility store (and I'd suspect many devs at my level would feel the same) so that if people actually do know me, they'll not have so much of an issue finding my work. In the case like Cut the Rope, which is a fairly high-profile game, I am extremely curious to know the politics involved in it's seemingly exclusive appearance on GetJar.

EDIT: I'll assume it means they can keep more money, and build up their own store to sell other products down the road (publicizing not only their game's brand, but their store's brand as well)

Got it, and it is indeed great. Been waiting for this since I started looking at an Android phone.

My next hope is Square Enix on Android. Would love to have Final Fantasy I and III on my phone.

Crystal Defenders is on Android, so hopefully they bring more over.

I just get a black screen opening getjar?

Hope this happens sooner than later. I see SE released a game today on Android so at least they're testing the market

I hear that, and it's a good idea. For a game like Cut the Rope, I'd rather buy it on the Android Market though. I have no clue what all these other markets policies are regarding if I get a new phone and want to download it again to that, or if they'll even be open at that time. Android Market isn't going anywhere.

Are there any quality management/city building/strategy type games on the android marketplace that are worth investing in? All I ever seem to find is free stuff that relies on you buying in-game currency to advance.

I've got the three Kariosoft games, but I'd love something along the lines of Sim City to come along to Android. Anything that might interest me that I've somehow missed?

Hey guys, check out the new OP! Thanks to Nirolak, I've taken over maintaining the OP, and I'd like to especially encourage you to add to it. I'll try to post the most talked about games under Recommended, and if we have any new devs lurking, I'll add your game to the Gaf-Made section. Hope you enjoy.

I'd recommend Battle Heart. It's an iPhone port, and a great rpg in its own right.
Yeah, just finished it. Some of the battles can be quite tough. The character selection can be really iffy when they're really close, but most of the time you can work around that.

Fieldrunners hits Android tomorrow, 99 cents for 24 hours

Good news: Subatomic Studios' popular mobile tower defense title Fieldrunners is coming to Android tomorrow! Better news: it's only 99 cents for the first 24 hours it's live on the Android Market.

The version of the game will be called Fieldrunners HD, and will feature a visual upgrade over previous versions, but the same old tower defense goodness. If you miss out on the 24-hour 99 cent period, don't worry, you can still spend $2.99 on it.

The developer originally wanted to release the game for free, but ran into a snag: the Android Market doesn't allow developers to release a free app and then start charging for it later. Oops.

"We are still reaching out to alternative marketplaces that may allow us to launch for free, so all is not lost," they wrote on their blog.

Still, 99 cents is a pretty good deal. Don't be so cheap -- Fieldrunners is pretty
good!

They could always launch on the Amazon Appstore first.

Has anyone heard any updates about Fieldrunners HD? It was supposed to be up today, but I can't find it via search.

After Grave Defense and Robo defense, was looking forward to digging into another TD game.

I can't buy age of zombies for some reason. I have no idea if its because I'm in Taiwan atm or because it actually isn't supported on the transformer. Any help?

Oh, nice. I've never actually done much gaming on my X10i, but this looks like a pretty neat little RPG. Would like a good turn based title though - not too good with touch screens.

Thanks for the tips on the TD games, gonna try out Myth Defense. Also, picking up Zenonia 3 for... free? Yeah, not passing up free.

Just purchased Cut the Rope, too. Love the design and animation. Good stuff.

lolwut. why free.

I haven't dipped my toes into it yet since I haven't beaten Zenonia 1 yet, but what little I did look at made it look like there were some microtransactions.

ElectricThunder mentioned it back on page 3, but since I got an account, thought I’d plug my Mystery Dungeon style game (roguelike sub-genre).

Voyage to Farland is a game for hardcore Shiren fans. Expect lots of ‘critical moments’ as John Harris calls them, and to make heavy use of items to survive. It’s turn-based. And clever strategy is emphasized over hacking/slashing, clearing dungeons over gaining levels/loot. English and Japanese support.

links:
website (has hints & videos), link to paid version in market, and free version (ads, no bonus dungeons).

It’s pretty hard, as a Shiren clone should be. But it’s not all pain - the game also has some humor...
