I've been playing it quite a lot and I've actually seen my skill increase. I used to hover around 1550 rating and now hover around 1650, my SO is constantly up above 1750. There is definitely skill related to it (she never seems to get under 100 ATK/DEF) but luck can make the difference between a one shot kill and an extended game.

My moga controller has shipped. Hopefully it doesn't take too long. I'm anxious to try it out.

After playing with the Moga demo kiosk at Toys R Us I wasn't impressed. The buttons are stiff, the d-pad sticks aren't tight enough...But hey, $5...Still, I'll stick with my iCade 8 Bitty. :)

I think it's a combination of skill and luck - it kind of reminds me of Mario Kart, in that sense. I mostly don't have a problem with the item blocks, my only wish was that they would remove the chance of a player getting two life blocks in one game.

I still enjoy playing a lot, but the more I play the more I get annoyed with the matchmaking. I had a really crappy losing streak where I was CONSTANTLY matched against people who were at a way higher rank than I was. I've also had the opposite happen, where I'll be ranked against someone way lower than me in rank and I'd steamroll them, which isn't that fun either.

Guys, the Curse is free for this promo.

Grab it while you can. I heard pretty awesome things from it from some gaf members.

A shame it has that "Buy an IAP coin to solve this impossible puzzle BS", but for free I guess it is worth a try for most people. Personally? While it is polished, some of the puzzle difficulty is really obscene and unfair because they *really* want you to buy a free pass to bypass them.

Don't expect Layton quality though.

I just got my shipping email. In a week I'll be traveling to stay with my parents for Christmas and I had it sent there so I wouldn't miss it. I now regret that decision as I have a 3 hour layover. Traveling to rural airports this time of year sucks.

In related news, Riptide GP is on the compatible list for the official app, and maybe works the unofficial universal driver. It went half off today, 99 cents, for a limited time.

The draw for me continues to be that the moga controller holds my phone. I'd prefer to keep using my dualshock 3, but I don't like the game klip implementation. For $5 this seems like easily the best solution for what I want.

It takes literally 5 seconds to Google the answers for all 100 puzzles. Seems a bit too much to complain about IAP coins when the answers are all out there.

I think it's ridiculous that they charge for some emulators. Haven't emulators been free since their inception?

Yep. I think most of them are based on the free PC versions, too. Maybe that's why the locked features tend to be save states, because they write their own code for that part. Anyone know the actual reason?

Not complaining, just pointing out a fact about the software. As I said, it's free now so that helps, but normally it is $2.99 and I have an issue with paid software that intentionally skirts the IAP BS to further the core gameplay.

Well, someone has to write the code and port it to the OS. What is the harm in 'donating' for the effort? Plus someone like Robert updates his .emu apps on a regular basis. I have no problem supporting good, solid programming.

These look great! Thank you! Are these apps compatible with the moga controller?

I wouldn't use the Moga for classic gaming emulation IMO, the buttons are too stiff and the controls don't substitute for a good proper D-pad.

Do you have a Wiimote handy? That and also iCade support is built in and work like a dream. No root or separate apps needed.

Just saw that this morning. Not a big fan of Mega Mall story but I buy all Kairosoft stuff so I've already purchased this one. Their last release, Beastie Bay, was a big disappointment for me. Hopefully I'll like this one better but I have a backlog of 4 or 5 Kairosoft games so there's a chance this won't be the next one I start.

If you're not enjoying the games, and already have a big back log of their games you don't play, why do you continue to buy them..?

i feel the same. out of the free emus i've tried for snes/genesis, snesdroid and genplusdroid are the ones i like the most. the ui looks ugly, but the emulation itself looks great.

Super MAMC is insane. I had so much trouble hitting the 1 million point goal. Somehow I got three golds together for a diamond and then all hell broke loose. I ended up getting three diamonds together, not knowing this was possible then, and somehow ended up with 77.61 million points. Crazy =).

Because I really, really enjoy most of their games and think they deserve my money. I loved Cafeteria Nipponica, Dungeon Village, Epic Astro Story, Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story, Pocket League Story, and Kairobotica. Wasn't a fan of Beastie Bay, World Cruise Story, Hot Springs Story, and Mega Mall Story but I still put 5-10 hours into each of them. Beastie Bay is the only one I really thought "I don't want to play this anymore" about; the others I didn't love I just kind of tailed off on without having a singular "I quit" moment.

When I said I was "not a big fan" of Mega Mall what I mean is that if the games in the first group above are all 9's or 10's then the ones in the second group are all 6's, 7's, or 8's, except for Beastie Bay which I'd probably put at 5 or lower. Even the ones I don't love I tend to think I got my money's worth out of.

I hit 5 billion yesterday... It's addictive.

I was told that Retroarch Android is going to release soon and it's free and does just as much as the paid emulators if not more.

Save your money and wait a bit.

The Curse is pretty good but I don't like playing it at work cuz I got to focus. My 5 dollar controller order processed so I'm looking forward to that.

are there any good ps1 emulators?
I think the best right now is epsxe. There's also fpse, but that one's a bit weird I believe when it comes to its updates. Been reading impressions about how the dev would just randomly update the emulator and break compatibility in the process, then later release a quick fix only to break something else lol

I've been using FPse for a while and I haven't had any problems. It's a much more refined product than the free alternative (forgot it's name). Performance and interface is better, its definitely worth the buy if you're to use it a lot.

I grabbed the Robert Broglia emulators from Play, but neither of my Wii remotes will sync. Used red button, used "hold 1 and 2", no luck. Using a rooted N7 with stock 4.2. Fresh batteries, also rebooted my tablet. Any ideas?

Freemium is annoying, but don't expect it to go away any time soon. Almost all of the top 30 grossing games on the Play Store are freemium.

I'm getting really tired of these freemium games.
This is why I gravitate toward games with demos that then allow you to buy the full game. A good demo for a point and click or rpg will easily motivate me to spend $10+. But if the game feels built around milking you for more and more money, then I get annoyed. I'm fine with "expansions" as long as the base product feels complete and not just introductory crap.

lol thanks. so basically the curse which he already suggested to us ha

Pretty much. It's nothing like Zookeeper Battle. This fucking game lets you have 6 battles and then forces you to wait 12 minutes or something to replenish the stupid games. You then can only replenish 2 max (out of the 6) unless you purchase these stupid little potions or w/e. Fuck this game.

Bloody Super MAMC has freemium shit too. It's driving me nuts that instead of designing a game where players earn coins or w/e at a logical rate, they make it pretty hard in order to get you to buy their little packs. Fuck this business model. I'm going to stab it in the fucking face!

I am getting really annoyed with Zookeeper Battle now. I never seem to get items (hearts and paint buckets) but when I do, my opponent does as well. Too much luck involved.
