Android Gaming Thread New OP

Towelfight 2 is kinda neat, similar to Binding of Isaac in gameplay but it's not a roguelike, instead it has a fixed map and death only costs you some money.

why not just pirate those?
i mean it IS free and all, so technically you're not doing anything wrong

Sure you are. A license has been provided to Amazon to distribute the app for free in one region. Nobody else has that right, and Amazon don't have that right for other regions. You can't just choose to pirate anything that some people get for free.

For some reason, google chrome is warning me about malware every time I want to see the OP.

I spent a while trying to track down the offending image (it'll be a hotlinked image in a post that's causing this). If anyone can find which one is causing it, PM me and I'll fix it.

The OP is so outdated, why not just remove all of the images?

I missed out on the FF Dimensions, but now that Chaos Rings and Chaos Rings Omega are on a similar sale, are any of those recommended as well?

Chaos Rings is a pretty fun JRPG, if a bit by-the-numbers. It's good for what it is but don't expect anything particularly unique. Haven't played CRO but I've heard it's basically CR 1.5 and feels more like an expansion than a sequel.

This doesn't help, but I am liking Dimensions waaaay more than Chaos Rings. I've only played about an hour of Chaos Rings, though. I grew up on NES and SNES FFs though, so maybe that's it, but the job system and characters keep me coming back. Chaos Rings didn't seem to have much depth to it. I will eventually go back to it though.

I was mostly looking for a good turn based retro-type RPG. FF Dimensions seemed like the perfect game for that, but I can do naught but curse me own laziness :(
Might give Omega a try though, if it's something of a more polished version of the first one. Thanks guys!

What game got the most out of a note?

sprinkle is the amazon free app of t'day. That's 3 days in a row they've had some nice games up for grabs. Kudos!

The recommendations for 10000000 persuaded me.

Perhaps there should be a monthly Android gaming thread akin to the Apple one? It might encourage activity as this one is a bit of a stale beast.

I think Android gaming is at the point where it really needs something like Game Center to manage friends and leaderboards.

I agree. I'm surprised Google hasn't tried doing something like this yet. I know there are third-party solutions out there, but it sure would be nice to have one centralized service for Android games.

Chaos Ring is one of my favorite rpg in recent years. Slow start, though, since the "real" story doesn't start until you beat it with one pair. Omega is pretty good, but is a significantly smaller game than the original and the story lacked any hooks or surprises.

After playing Legend of Grimrock (my first old school dungeon crawler) I'm craving for more on the go. I know there were one or two recommended earlier in this thread but can anyone suggest a game for android?

Thanks!

I bought Broken Sword 2 on the Amazon App Store for my dad's phone as it costs only €0.99 at the moment. That was a fatal mistake, Amazon Germany rarely updates its apps apparently, they were still stuck with an outdated version that constantly crashed. Amazon's app store customer service is completely incompetent - so after three emails I finally got a refund then. Thank god the game allowed for a save file backup on Dropbox - now send him the PC game and the Google Play Store version -.-

I learnt my lesson, I'm not going to buy anything in the Amazon App Store again.

Today's amazon free app of the day has been quell. It has the most amazing ui and music I've seen/heard in a long time. Another awesome giveaway. My games folder is getting out of hand thanks to them!

Man, 10000000 is basically crack. Now I know why iOS users kept praising it.

Could not agree more. Can't freakin stop playing it! I've a question, there's that one objective you need to accomplish in the Scout rank: Kill a monster using only orbs. I collected a buncha orbs (yellow ones), killed an enemy with them but the objective remains incomplete. What gives??
