I thought posting a video of scans was bannable?
:3

Really? Didn't know. I'll take it out I guess.

Edit: Shouldn't Price Plan leaks be bannable also? Some of this stuff should be detailed in the OP so we don't screw up.

WTF, 32GB internal storage, that won't be cheap. Eh, it could be fake, what's Full 1080p logo doing there.

Maybe when connected to a HDTV is capable of full 1080p video?

Nah, only magazine scans are banned and that's because they take away their potential sales. Ads, brochures or anything of the sort doesn't matter.

Ah, okay. I just dunno how serious people get about this stuff.

It's a brochure, keep the link up. These things are free anyway, as they are promotional devices. The forum rule is to prevent commercial theft. In other words, posting media that would normally be on sale on shelves is illegal. Posting material that's free, and actually used for promotion is totally legit. Besides, leave the modding to mods. This thread thrives on this leaked info, and we are all grateful. PEACE.

And the hits keep on comin' -- Verizon is looking like the Android's official home right now.

HTC Dragon coming to Verizon as the Passion?

ENGADGET.COM said:
We've been hearing about a 1GHz Snapdragon-based Android handset called the HTC Dragon ever since the HD2 came out, but now it looks like some pieces are falling into place -- apparently this mystery HTC set we spotted over the weekend is a CDMA version of the Dragon headed for Verizon as the HTC Passion sometime in Q4. Apparently Verizon's trying to unify the hardware UI of its Droid lineup, which is why the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, and the Passion share a set of buttons along the bottom edge of the screen, and some people are also claiming that the white notification bar is further sign of similarity. As for us, well, we'll wait to hear more before we start to get too excited -- and we can't help but wonder if this thing will run Sense or stock Android 2.0 when it hits, as HTC's big new ad push is all about personalization. Still, it's looking like a hell of a year for Android (and Verizon), no?

That makes...I can't even keep track of the numbers anymore!

I mean, there's the Droid,Galaxy, Cliq, Moment, Eris, Passion, Calgary...I'm probably missing several...

Fuck..

I neeeed a new phone, since my Pearl just doesnt perform anymore, I know I want an Android phone, but do I pick up a Magic (that and the G1 are the only ones Roger Canada carries), and wait for something a little more exciting that I hope Rogers gets too?

...or do I buy some unlocked phone, like the Hero.

It sucks too, because I know I want a hardware keyboard, I dont mind touchscreen, but it still bothers me sometimes when im using a friends iPhone, but the only ones out now/soon are and old ass G1, the samsung with what looks to be a stupid button layout, and these Motorola's that I will never buy, because well..they are Motorola phones, haha.

So idealy I want an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Android instead of WinMo, but they just dont want to make one for me!

I dont know what to do!!!

Like the song says, the waiting is the hardest part.

I just picked up a new iPod Touch and the broswer performance (and overall performance) make me want a faster Android phone than my G1. Until now I could be relatively smug thinking that my phone was better than an iPhone, but lately I've been feeling like my phone is "old."

...I have a year until my contract is up for renwal.

Like the song says, the waiting is the hardest part.

The good news is the huge number of devices coming on the market.

If you can get over your distaste of Motorola, I'd say go for them. The Dext has been getting pretty good reviews.

Whats the Dext? the Droid or the Cliq? are either of them even available in GSM? I wouldnt mind either I guess as something to hold me over till HTC does something I want, Im just not a fan of how either are designed, especialy the Droid, It looks cheap to me, the Cliq does too, but at least I expect it to be cheap, the build quality just doesnt seem that good.

Neither have any Canadian release dates as far as I know, I dont even know what carrier would have them either.

Edit:

Magic works great. Running it with Cyanogens Donut update, and its a beaut.

For the price, its worth it.

See, thats kinda what im thinkin, its 80 bucks, and im sure I can get Sence runnin on it. Its not Ideal, but its cheap, and will tide me over till a real HTC phone......in theory :P

I'm still considering getting an Archos... Dell better announce their tablet before Christmas. Both look beautiful.

Dext is the name of the Cliq outside the US. If you can wait for the Droid, it's the Android phone to beat right now, you won't be feeling "G1 fatigue" for a long time.

Well, I dont want to get into my dislike of Moto phones, I want something from HTC, Sence is the best Android UI I've seen by far, and HTC just makes very solid well built Phones (Well, I'm not sure about the G1 it looks flimsy).

Id probably be willing to get the Dext/Cliq though to hold me over, since it has a full keyboard, and thats a huge plus. Any word on who's carrying it? and when they will?

If the Dragon/Passion is really coming to Verizon, there's your big strong powerful HTC phone right there. Man oh man, I can't wait for the drop dates on these phones.

Have there been any rumors of more powerful Android hardware coming to Sprint or T-Mobile? I really want to switch to an Android phone, but after the 3gs I can't stand interface lag. I guess I could switch to Verizon, but would prefer not to if possible.

still no hardware keyboard though! touchscreen is nice, but not for everything! quick texts, sure, long emails? booo!

I know there isn't a ton of info available on the HTC passion just yet but would if you had to decide which would be the best bet for someone new to the android scene, which would you choose? Droid or Passion? I'm definitely going with Verizon and I've been chomping at the bit for the droids release, but if passion is a superior phone I might be able to hold off.

I need AT&T to make some official announcements and commitments to the android platform and which phones they will carry. My wife is begging me for an Iphone but I don't want to upgrade yet because I want to try and get her on the android bandwagon and get one for myself when we upgrade which will be soon.

Not Android, but what's the diddly on http://maemo.nokia.com/

That browser looks sweet. But after the N97 dissapointment....mmhhhh have Nokia lost it? Do they have any Android stuff planned?

Nokia are backing their own technologies, Symbian and Maemo (based on Linux). The N97 runs Symbian, while the N900 runs their Maemo stack, so they're completely unrelated. Maemo's actually been around for a long time, they originally used it in these tablets they were releasing as far back as 2005. It's currently undergoing a pretty radical rewrite for version 6 so I'd hold off it for now unless you know a device is going to be upgradeable.

Another Linux-based smartphone OS worth keeping an eye on is Intel's Moblin. There should be a few devices running that out in the next year.

I'm really considering that Motorola Droid phone but am not really phone educated. Is it a good phone based off the specs or is it up in the air until it's release?

I'm in the market for a new phone. I'm waiting to see if the N900 lives up to the hype. I'm also curious what Microsoft is up to with Windows Mobile 7. If it's anything like Windows 7 it will be a winner. This next year is going to be crazy for phone/gadget whores like myself :D

The Droid is looking great. Think I will wait to see what HTC has in the next couple of months. Sense UI is a big selling point, but then again so is a physical keyboard.

Don't understand why we haven't seen an HTC phone with Sense UI and a physical keyboard yet. Since the release of the G1/Dream we are seeing a decent number of HTC phones announced...none with a physical keyboard.

Verizon is having a big blowout on the 28th of this month. So I'd wait till then and you'll have all kinds of previews and info along with hopefully a release date with a price attached. Then you can decide if you want to jump in.

Sweet, I'll have to check it out then.

Great phone based on: huge (3.7 inches) and high-res (480 x 854 Widscreen VGA) capacitive screen, first phone running Android 2.0, best battery life of any Android phone yet, Cortex CPU and PowerVR GPU (same combo in iPhone 3GS) for some oomph, super-slim form factor (slightly larger than an iPhone), and it has a hardware keyboard.

Plus, all the standard stuffs like GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, MicroSD, MicroUSB, 3.5mm headset jack, etc.

Potentially mediocre parts: Keyboard might not be the best, weird d-pad placement, and the internal storage is only 512 MB (not a problem right now, and I've seen some rumors apps can run off SD in Android 2.0 so who knows.)

It's the best Android phone now and on the horizon by far, on the best network in the USA. You can see why some of us are excited.

Looking at all that it looks like the phone I would want coming off the iphone. I'll check it out on the 28th as the above poster mentioned but from the looks of it this is my replacement phone and re-entry into Verizon's network. The phone looks pretty damn sexy too. I just wish it had that MOTOBLUR feature I watched on youtube earlier today.

I don't understand either. Alls I want is a HTC Android phone with a physical keyboard.

Until that comes, I guess I'll keep lusting for the N900.

Doesn't Verizon gimp the GPS to where you have to buy their navigator package though if you want to access it? If so, that GPS listing needs a neat little asterisk. :D

The Droid does look like an awesome phone.. too bad it's Verizon and too expensive for my blood.

Samsung moment review
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/10/26/samsung-moment-review/
Wrap-up

If there's one thing Android's in desperate need of right now, it's choices -- choice of carriers, choice of manufacturers, choice of form factors, choice of skins, and so on, because no single Android device is going to capture whole percentage points of market share the same way the iPhone has. On that level, we applaud Sprint for staying on the ball and recognizing that the keyboardless Hero wasn't enough to satisfy every last subscriber who'd like to get in on Android. Thing is, the Moment still feels like a first-generation device -- and for a platform that launched commercially a solid year ago, that's not really acceptable. We would've liked to have seen Samsung come to the table with a phone that was sleeker, prettier, more thought-out, and -- if nothing else -- ran the latest and greatest version of Android that Google and the OHA have to offer. Devices like the Behold II suggest that Sammy's going to be an open-source force to be reckoned with in the long term, but for its first outing on Sprint, it's a swing and a miss.

I am glad i went with the htc hero :D :D :D :D . Guess i wont be switching to the moment.

That's what I want as well. Of course I'm sure you also mean something with Android 2.0 and Sense UI.

With the rumoured Memphis now being just that I wonder if HTC is shying away from having physical keyboards in any of their new phones.

Maybe if and when the Droid and Moment sell well HTC will be encouraged to do another one with a keyboard?
