"Legend is one continuous smooth surface. It's machined out of single block of aluminum. You could say it's carved. The body is the frame, the frame is the body. Legend is extremely solid." Whoa, he just banged it against the wall. It does indeed sound solid.

yeap, the desire will be mine. Getting the new sense on my hero will make the wait easier, and I'll wait for price drops, but yeah, looks amazing

While these phones are cool, the lack of QWERTY is disturbing.

HTC's on-screen keyboard is extremely usable. Personally I prefer it to the extra level of potential mechanical failure in a physical keyboard. Didn't think I would do at first, but it grows on you.

Yeah, I have the HTC keyboard on my G1, and I like it a lot more than the stock Android soft keyboard. I use it for stuff like quick texts and IMs, contact lookup. I do alot of typing on my phone, so I would have liked to see some QWERTY love from HTC.

I can see what you're saying and I'm probably not in a position to respond because I've always used the HTC Sense keyboard and the responsiveness and text correction/prediction is incredibly good. The only problem I have with that is that i'm not a native English speaker and therefore I have to 'teach' it before I get to use it quickly but once that's done writing a six letter word is just six pokes in the general area where the keys are supposed to be, and very rarely does it give me an incorrect word.

Engadget is rolling with the info from the HTC conference at MWC.

Desire looks like a nexus one HTC's sense and optical trackpad.

Verizon's getting all the good Android phones. I currently have the HTC Hero on Sprint, but I need to get a new phone. The battery life on this thing stinks, and I think it needs a bit more memory. I'm holding out hope that these things will be resolved with the firmware update, but if not, I will gladly pay $600 for a phone without a contract.

Yeah do we know carriers for all this stuff? I couldn't really find anything in that regards on Engadget's site for the US anyways.

I wonder how big the difference is between the one and two-mic configurations, I think speech to text is a pretty big deal for android now.

Looks thick as hell

It absolutely isn't. Not an ultra-thin device by any means, but it's a comfortable thickness (check the specs). Then again, I'm coming from a SonyEricsson C905, which is chunky. :D

I hope they show the HTC Bravo as i want to get that.

Unless the Bravo has been renamed to Desire

which it has

Also, the Desire is coming to Australia...which means it'll have ATT 's US 3G bands!:D

tiiiime to import

I'm not sure if anyone posted this yet, but here we go: Apparently, Slashgear, in their preview of the Dell Mini 5, said, "The modem connection has quadband GSM and then will be offered in various SKUs suited for European, AT&T or T-Mobile AWS 3G."

I'm not sure how solid Slashgear's intel is, but it would be nice to see the Dell Mini 5 come to T-Mobile. :D

4g is like 10 times faster than 3g. The supersonic will be the first phone out to support that network and 4g is actually available in my area now:D That would save me alot on internet costs too.:D

I use 4g wireless for my primary internet connection at home. I get somewhere around 7mbps or so, with speeds maxing out in the 10mbps range every now and then.

needless to say, the next phone upgrade I get will most certainly be 4g capable.

Just got my Eris but I'm definitely looking forward to HTC's offerings.
Same. :D

I've never had a smartphone before. I got an Eris for my birthday on Saturday and I absolutely love it. As of right now, all I want for my next phone is a BIG, higher-res screen (maybe even tablet-sized), at least 512MB RAM, at least 1GHz proc and 4G. Maybe more built-in storage for apps, too.

I figure I can stick with the Eris for one year and there should be a device like I have described by then. :D

I wish that Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro had a 3inch screen.
The screen on my current phone is 3 inch and it's the perfect size for my usage needs.
The X10 is just way too big. U10i Aino = pefect size.

So I bought a G1. Freaking loving it.
Why would anyone buy a G1 at this point? I legitimately want to know. There are just... so many better options now.

One thing that annoys me about the MWC is that I keep forgetting it's taking place in Europe, it's international, and a very low percentage of the announcements have anything to do with America. Damn.

Is there any other phones I should keep my eyes out for?

Tmobile sucked with their HD2 Phone with WinMo 6.5 (I think) and the things it comes with isn't worth it.

The Desire isn't coming to US? ;(

I'll wait until MWC is over before I jump in to an android (hopefully 2.1) phone.

Sony Ericsson X10 definitely hitting AT&T
We’ve just been told from an AT&T source of ours that the Sony Ericsson X10 is 100% coming to AT&T, and pretty soon. Our connect has heard an April-May time frame. What about pricing? Well, it looks like the X10 will be priced at $199 or lower, with a two year agreement, of course.

Good news for the USA members waiting for this beaut. I want to read about the sound quality on the X10. I feel that the Nexus One is lacking as a MP3 player. Sound is not the best.

The Nexus One, HTC Desire, Dell Mini 5 and X10 are the only phones hitting the market in the near future that are worth considering. Each one is so different from the last, however, so it comes down to carrier and personal preference.

In the distant future, Sprint fans have the Supersonic to look forward to. Since it wasn't at MWC, I wouldn't expect that one 'til the 2nd or 3rd quarter.

Since I am on T-Mobile, I'm heavily considering the Nexus One. But, with the rumor that the Dell Mini 5 is coming to T-Mo, I may wait a bit. A 5in' screen phone with a front-facing camera and Snapdragon processor sounds amazing. However, I'm very skeptical of Dell's custom UI and their ability to offer Android updates in a timely fashion. Also, since it's not an HTC phone, the custom rom support will probably be nonexistent.

questions for my fellow gaffers:

1) Is the Supersonic at least confirmed for Sprint?

2) I checked engadget in a rush this morning. I didn't see it but that doesn't mean it didn't happen; has HTC shown off the Supersonic at MWC?

I'm with Tmobile USA. is Desire out of the question? X10 is running on android 1.6. I have an interest with the Dell Mini. So i'll wait a bit more.

1) For the most part, yes. There's no official word, but "insiders" have confirmed it's a WiMax phone for Sprint.

2) Nope. HTC didn't show it, which means it's not coming for a while. Probably not until the 2nd or 3rd quarter.

If the Supersonic is the only android phone Sprint picks up by Summer I'm gonna be pissed. Why people need screens bigger than 3.7" on a phone is beyond me.
