Android just keeps getting better and better! would have gone with a Droid but nothing beats the WMobile community and the HD2 is the most amazing mobile i've ever seen... :D

I am. Is there usually a video feed of this kinda event? Or will we have to resort to live blogs?

Can I get a link to one of these blogs when they become available? Stuck at work and 11:30 is my first coffee break.

Can you tell me more about the WMobile community? Maybe a few links? Because the HD2 is also my favorite right now

It's not a WM thread but...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/

It's a forum for development on all HTC devices, it's definitely the largest out there but other forums exists for different brands.

A very good source for WM related news is http://pocketnow.com/. They even post what's updated in new WM builds which happens like once or twice per month.

But with the speed of Android development, I wouldn't wager my bets on WM now unless you really don't care for anything else other than basic functionality.

While we're on that, is there anything out there that even comes close to OneNote? OneNote mobile sync'ing is awesome and OneNote is more than just than a note taking application, I pretty much use it to compile data on anything I work on. Plus Office 2010 Mobile is looking nice.

Well, I don't think you should expect much on that front either. But people on XDA has gotten stuffs like Starcraft and Doom working.... mostly in development stuff that doesn't really seem viable anyway. Older WM HTC devices even have Android working quite well on them.

Check out sites like XDA Developers and see what people in the winmo community are doing with roms and apps, what I like the most is that the community supports a huge amount of phones and if the manufacturer doesnt release updates for your phone these guys will, with the latest builds, apps and they will look better and run faster than what you'll get from the phone manufacturer or service provider anyway.

Anyways, I don't wanna junk up the Android thread with winmo stuff, because I think Android is awesome and has massive potential :D but maybe once my HD2 arrives in the mail I might get a WinMo hardware thread going ;)

HOLY CRAP!!!!

I lol'd when he asked for "that museum with the king tut exhibit" then I was amazed when not only did it find it, but it mapped directions there.

Video of Droid being fondled!

Wow, is it me or is there a lot of interface lag?

And Google scores again! Unveils free turn-by-turn navigation.

Yeah, the interface didn't seem very responsive. I can only assume that the OS/firmware still has a few bugs to be ironed out

(That, or the Droid's rumoured specs are a work of fiction. Arm11 434mhz incoming!!)

Andrex! WHERE ARE YOU! So far so good--- can't wait to find out about Verizon's plan prices.

Quote from BGR announcement.
Link

To get the most from DROID by Motorola smartphone, customers will need to subscribe to a Nationwide voice plan and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan. Nationwide voice plans begin at $39.99 for monthly access for 450 minutes and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan is $29.99 for monthly access.

70 bucks actually sounds quite reasonable. Might be another 10 for unlimited texts I think.

Pretty sure unlimited texts are included in the 30 dollar data plan. I checked it out yesterday, but I might be wrong.

Only six days until Rachael will be revealed. Can't wait to see the specs!

$70 a month? WTF. I feel sorry for you.
That's still cheaper than iphone's monthly fee plus I save 25% on my bill each month so it's tempting for me.

Exactly what I was thinking. I tried the AT&T 450 with unlimited data and texts through my company and it was still around $85 a month. I don't see why 70 a month would be cause for feeling sorry for us.

I pay $24 for unlimited data and that's it. Gotta pay for sms though but why would I use that? :)

It just sounds so expensive.

You don't have a voice plan on your phone?

No. I just pay per minute. But I hardly ever call people. Twitter/Facebook/e-mail is the way to go. I might call someone, maybe once or twice a week, so in the end it'll cost me maybe $3 extra / month. A Bit OT this though. :)

But I'm really interested in Rachael/X10 or whatever it will be called. If it's good enough I'm gonna replace my iPhone.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuu.... when are all these lovely phones coming to Canada?! I am definitely not getting an iphone now. Anyone know?

$200? Free turn-by-turn directions? Out next week?

This day is turning out to be a great one already. :D

I'm in love. Just one problem...I'm going to NYC for thanksgiving. And money is tight, but I don't know if I can wait until after the trip. >_<

THIS PHONE IS HOT HOT HOT!

edit:
fuck it, watching all these videos....i can't wait any longer. november 6th!

I'm still curious on how do those docks work? What triggers the mode changes? They're awesome. What other docks can they make?

A magnet triggers the mode change, from BGR's impressions.

At $200 this thing absolutely destroys the MyTouch (when it launched) and even the Cliq. Heck, it demolishes everything at that price. So happy to see my fears of an overly-expensive price weren't justified this time.

According to the Motodev spec page this thing can record 480p (720 x 480) video at 24fps. Very very nice. :D

Wow, really sluggish. The only touch screen phone that I've fully tried is the iPhone, which has a bit of lag, but I would've thought that interface lag wouldn't exist, or it would be really reduced. I mean, when he opens that menu from the bottom it really, really lags. That sucks, total dealbraker.

I mean, the HD2 seems to do a good job on that subject.

That's a GSM prototype of the Droid, we don't even know how far along that hardware is. At one point of that video, the whole system bugged out and froze.

I would check out the video of the Verizon rep using the Droid.

Engadget has a video from the event. They do mention homescreen lag but it's much better than on that video, from what I could tell anyway. I think the phone on that video is still unoptimized since it's a GSM rather than CDMA and probably still early.
