We'll see. That's my initial thought as well, but competing directly with Android licensees would appear to open a can of worms.

Not a private url but you can choose who to share locations with in Google's Latitude; it's also integrated into Map.

So I got a Defy for very cheap and didn't even bother with the stock rom, but momentarily went for a CM7 variation with ICS additions.
After completing the installation I got caught in the boot animation loop, so I did this:

I downgraded from CM7 to Stock / Installed a new SBF but I'm having bootlops: (!) If this is happening to you, after flashing the Stock SBF, enter in Stock Recovery and do a full wipe (Data/Cache) and reboot.

Leaving out the bolded part. Now all I see is just the frozen stock animation (the Motorola-M).

I can still enter the Android BootMenu (with Ubisoft's raving rabbit..wtf?), but I'm not sure what to do from here...
I guess I'm going to try to install the plain & stable CM7.

Also, Google's gone out of its way to state that they want to keep Motorola and Android as separate entities. They don't even want to give it favored vendor status. Of course, we'll see about that in a few years.

i think it would be a pretty good investment to get an enterprise ready system. Although thinking about it, most companies are just pushing activesync out (mine does) and just lets you use anything with an activesync capable client. So, maybe the entire enterprise ready phone is worthless nowadays.

Well I think that encryption is part of the picture of which I believe ICS fixes (Honeycomb did) but you're right, if you're using ActiveSync it's like of lulz worthy of having anything else on a BYOD workplace.

General UI movement, loading times in particular applications like the gallery. There was always a 1 or 2 second lag behind everything. It seems to have completely vanished.

I'm running AOKP build 29 with Franco-m2 btw.

Interesting. I'm guessing that's the GN? I'm on the S2 and haven't had any noticable differences. Maybe I just didn't notice the lag in the first place or something. Everything does seem pretty snappy.

I have no idea. But there's still plenty of support for the i9100 and the GN. Don't see why anything would be different for the GS3.

The only increases in speed I *need* are:

1. Auto-rotate needs to take at most 0.5 seconds, not the full 1-1.5 seconds it takes now

2. Hitting the running apps button is waaaaaay too slow sometimes, like, if it's going to be slow, at least make the vibrate feedback immediate. It isn't now and it's maddening, no idea if I hit it so I hit it again and then it comes up and immediately closes. Bad, bad UX.

ODIN is one of the main reasons that I stick with Sammy for all my Android phones. Such a simple tool to easily fix/flash a device.

I've used this on my Note, and it works like a charm. I used ODIN to flash one of the early ICS leaks, and this pinged the flash counter, and gave the boot triangle alert. 2 minutes later, after installing the app, all was gone. Now, even after using CWM, the counter never moves, so I'm good. It works well.

So i get that phones get released quickly after unveil nowadays but i find it really strange that samsung is keeping new info on the S3 so tight (even on MWC).

Maybe they encountered a problem? Even if the S3 will be "better" than the One X, i bet that HTC will market the "first quadcore" spec to the max and steal thunder from the S3.

I've used this on my Note, and it works like a charm. I used ODIN to flash one of the early ICS leaks, and this pinged the flash counter, and gave the boot triangle alert. 2 minutes later, after installing the app, all was gone. Now, even after using CWM, the counter never moves, so I'm good. It works well.

Samsung actually reportedly has a counter in the i777 that knows when you reset the counter. So no app or even jig fixes it. No worries here though, I rooted/flashed it the first time in such a way that no counter will ever go off. I just can't use ODIN.
