Yeah, just watched the mkbhd video on the mix 2 and it looks worse in real life. Just like the first mix, renders make the bezels look smaller. The essential looks better to me, even with the cutout.
yeah I've been saying the Mix & Essential (& iPhone X) have very thin bezels but they are still bezels especially compared to the Galaxy / Note where the sides are truly bezeless. That said the Mix 2 is the first to make me want a white phone
Mix 2 being a usable size is an upgrade in itself to me.
Price also seems to be lower so I can forgive the smaller battery and similar bezels. Mix 1 was like the expensive concept and this is the one you sell.

Not impressed with the xiaomi mix 2 interpretation of bezel- lessness, LG and Sammy are doing it better and the phone is brittle

The bezels are small, but it doesn't make the phone unusable. It's all screen all the time.

Installed apps while I was on a vacation trip (they appear in "My apps and games" in Google Play Store unlike some apps I directly installed), and want to keep using them. Do I have use VPN even for updating? Which one does everyone recommend if I'm just updating?
I remember one local airline app that got update notice from Google PS while I was in Japan but that may be because the airline operates there as well. On the other hand, there seems to be no language setting to JP, so I am not sure.

Giga has been setting this up for months, most recently by posting that the 835 processor in the note8 is not worth $930, as if that's the reason it costs more. Gotta justify a thousand dollar iPhone somehow.

All this time I thought there was also going to be a bigger bezel-less iphone. Apparently it's just the one 5.8 inch screen one. That's disappointing. It will be interesting to see what they do with the camera. Animated emojis look like trash.
I'd take that over any LCD screen.

Facial recognition/iris scanning is not a bad choice. It's all going to depend on if it can be fooled by a high quality picture of your face.
That said, Apple engineers have already figured out a way to do a fingerprint reader under the glass. They just didn't get in time for the iPhone 8. Calling it now; the next big step for them will be to embed the front facing camera under the glass.
Well. I decided to say fuck it and not buy a Xperia Compact for the first time in 4 years. I'm still annoyed that no suppliers care to make a phone in that size, but it is what it is.

It's a bad choice. Yes, okay, Apple may have pulled off some kind of algorithmic miracle that's ten years beyond any other implementation, but that's... very unlikely.
Otherwise it'll be same old same old not great in a bunch of scenarios.
Qualcomm figured it out three years ago, but they've still not actually managed to ship a device with it working reliably enough. It's clearly very (very) hard to do from an engineering perspective to have gone from 80% of the way there to stalling at 90% for all of Samsung, Qualcomm and Apple.
I don't think it's a given it will hit imminently for either of them.

You can flash Verizon firmware on it. It's very easy to do. There's a guide on xda.

S8+ still gonna be the GOAT phone. Most users dont need the stylus or the upcharge on the Note 8, and the iPhone 8 gonna be redonkulous.
You can get the S8/+ for a decent price now that it's been out a clip.

from what I heard release timing is similar for pixel. And what I heard for iPhone was spot on so this is probably too. what I'm referring to is pixel 2 will come out Oct 19 I think but Pixel XL 2 will be early November.
anyway iPhone 10 is my next phone. Looks legit. My iPhone 7 selling price should cover half the cost too.

I don't know about V30 but Pixel XL 2 price is definitely going up from what I heard. At least 50-100 higher unless something has changed.

apparently carriers are already aware to expect low stock of the XL 2 on the higher storage capacity (128gb). And it aint even out yet.
