Never buy Samsung when it first comes out. Note 8 will be on bogo free within a couple of months and probably $500-$600 on resale market. All of these overpriced phones drop in value so fast. Buying day 1 is for suckers. No one is running out to buy new phones unless it's an iPhone so wait a month and save $200-$300 when Samsung is trying to hit their sales goals.

... AT&T had a BOGO for the iPhone 7 five months ago

Serves you all right who try to buy phones all the time. I don't understand why you can't just stick with one thing for a while. The experience phone to phone isn't that fucking different. If you really care that much, instead spend 30 mins playing with a phone at the store and figure out whether it would really be worth it to switch. Even if money isn't an issue it seems like it's such a waste of time going through the process of reselling and buying multiple times a year.

It's generally fine for the most part. It's just something I enjoy.

As someone that works and travels a bunch a new phone is something I could enjoy more than like a TV that I use maybe an hr a day if I don't travel.

Playing around with phones is better use of my money than alcohol and drugs. Past that phase in life!

My last sentence though...

Jeffrey said he enjoys the whole experience of switching and trying new phones. For me it can be a hassle of having to set up a listing of Swappa, take pictures, deal with low ball offers, clean and package everything, and run to the carrier as soon as the sale goes through. Not saying it's a huge time commitment, but it's definitely annoying to have to do just for phones and offer a slightly different experience (I don't do this phones, but I've done this other consumer electronics).

It's easier to deal with on craigslist. I wouldn't really want to sell anything on swappa. Too many fees with paypal, swappa, and shipping fees. I can get swappa sale price on craigslist and meet at a starbucks much easier. Then I don't have to worry about paypal chargebacks either. I went back to a oneplus one, because after trying all of these new phones, my Oneplus one on lineage does 90% of the performance of the newer phones. I have the u11 still, but I'll probably return it too since it's $600 for minimal difference in performance.

On another note amazon has the le eco lepro 3 for $214 http://a.co/07uiPYk I've heard it's really good if you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom.

Just gotta plan ahead. I keep all original boxes even the amazon shipping box.

Doesn't take much time to list something on swappa or eBay. Takes like 10-15min to package everything up and my office has a usps drop point.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Swappa has some crazy prices. I see OnePlus 3T going for 400+ used. I got mine for $330 new on eBay. i should sell it and make a profit.

Swappa is more reputable and has ESN checks so you aren't fucked buying something that is stolen or blacklisted.

It's not a 1 to 1 comparison, but it's sorta like GameStop. Sure you can get more money via eBay, but you're paying for convenience and in Swappa's case piece of mind.

Aug 23rd, NOTE 8 THE OCHO

Alright Samsung, my Note 4 needs replacing, I'm ready.

With as big as the S8+ is I'll be interested to see how they handle the Note 8 beyond it just being an S8+ with S-Pen.

Well thanks to eBay's Buyer Protection I really don't worry much about that, but maybe that's just me. Anytime I buy a phone off eBay, I check the seller's feedback, and ask for IMEI numbers, so I can check around to see if they're clean or not.

I do get your point, though.

Yo, that Switch app. Does anyone have issues that after opening it, all media gets treated as a call and plays through the voice speaker? Have to reboot to fix it on an S8+

Never owned a note. What can the s pen do better than normal smartphoneing? I assume handwriting notes if that's your thing?

I would love to replace my Note 4 with NOTE 8 THE OCHO but as usual US version is using shittastic Snapdragon. I might switch to T-Mobile at some point this year though and then I can import an international Ocho and get Exynos instead. I wish Samsung would stop using shitty shit shit Qualcomm for the US versions of Galaxy.

P.S. Fuck Qualcomm

Seems like from 'speed tests' performances are comparable this year. But regardless us phones are always behind on updates. Carrier phones are slow. Unlocked us is even slower lol.

remember that time the Qualcomm SoC was so bad that Samsung just went with their own SoC in the US anyway?

man, that Qualcomm SoC must have been terrible for Samsung to take that charge.

This. Really performance is basically the same now. Plus Qualcomm still has the GPU advantage.

Bigger issue is updates still as Jeffery said.

On eBay (europe) they are selling the LG G6 for 350 Euros. Seller with 99% positive feedback. They just say it might be a phone from a different region and that they "open the box to check if everything is in there". Possibly a refurb phone?

Could be, but I'm guessing they're cheap because they won't work with the bands they're supposed to.

I got a Xiaomi Mi5 about 3 weeks ago and it's a nice phone but I've finally given up on MIUI. It's like the Windows 8 of Android. Random settings all over the place. Throw in ridiculously OTT memory management to the point it continually screws with your notifications, a bunch of bloat and some missing functionality (can't reply from notifications) and bugs (Google Music just doesn't play well with it) and I'm done.

Unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP, wiped, tried to install LineageOS, failed, googled, updated some MIUI firmware, wiped, installed LineageOS, GApps and Magisk.

Man, it's so fast and responsive now. It's nice having root again too, been a while since I actually messed around with my phone this way. Adaway and Greenify are great.

Speaking of which, any essential Root apps I should look for? I've looked into Naptime but not entirely sure what it does. I'm not even sure what Doze does.

if there's one thing stopping these phones from selling outside of china etc it's that horrible software

Sort of a red flag.

A friend bought a S7 with dual sim from ebay that is intended for the SA market. It broke, and Samsung Germany didn't want to repair it as it had no warranty, since it's not made for the european market.

Add to that that we are talking about the pioneers of boot looping, and I would stay away.

I checked the bands and its surely not European, it misses one of the 3 bands for 4g (has the other 2 though). Im happy with my OP3T, but this one just caught my attention, so cheap, I have no idea bow they can sell it for that price (even if its refurb). On stores they are selling it for 550 already, while the S8 is 800, huge difference.

No idea how. They sell the G6 for around 430 in Germany, the S8 is already down to 550.

In an alternative universe where nexus is still a thing we'd have a 2016 nexus as a mate 9 basically.

Better than pixel XL lol.

Can you flash a kernel that's more conservative with power? Seems like that should help, but maybe you need to go all the way and disable the A57s to be safe.
might have to do this sooner or later. maybe it will help with battery somewhat too. maybe it'll die at 40% instead of 50 lol

at least i have my nexus 5 in case worse comes to worse

Wouldn't surprise me that much tbh
Can confirm. My flex 2 has that. It's not like it's exclusive to the 810 either, 808 (the one inside the G4) is also affected. People on XDA went as far as to open their G4s and bake the motherboard in a kitchen oven to get the soldering to stick back, which actually worked lol
