Anecdotal PSP software sales information

GDJustin

stuck my tongue deep inside Atlus' cookies
I was in Target today, and out of their PSP games, the following were sold out:

Metal Gear Acid (gonna be a ton of used copies of this one, methinks)
Lumines (yay!)
Fifa Soccer (???)

Everything else had about 50% of the stock gone, give or take. No titles were almost sold out, and no titles still had a ton in stock.

To make this thread at least slightly useful, share your PSP software sales info!

PS: They'd sold about 50 of their 200 PSPs.

Did they have Ridge Racer? That's the one title that I can't seem to find anywhere. I have my own copy, but was looking for another one for a friend.

I was over at Zeller's (Canadian chain) and they had like 5 copies of Lumines in stock.

I couldn't find Ridge Racer anywhere the day I bought my PSP (last Friday). Saturday EB Games got two copies in, and my cousin and I quickly snapped them up. Ridge Racer definately seems to be very hard to find.

Ridge Racer and Lumines are impossible to find in the Vancouver area. I rented MGA, and would find it quite enjoyable if I could get past the 2nd damn mission. Oh you crazy card games.

Untold Legends is also nowhere to be found, at least in the DC area (Best Buy, EB, Wal Mart, Target, Circuit City). Ended up ordering it (and it's back-ordered).

Lumines most likely had a very low shipment, so don't expect sales to be that great.

Ridge Racers and MGA seem to be the big sellers of the PSP software lineup.

But the big surprise is Untold Legends.

Fifa Soccer??? Isn't it World Tour Soccer or something, published by Sony?

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Sony announced Friday that Untold Legends is the No. 1 selling PSP title.

EB games has stacks of all of them except there all just those fake box placeholders. Those teasing bastards.

You must live in a pretty big town to have your Target get 200 PS2s.

I live in a smaller down (35K people) and my target had 58 PSPs in stock as of March 26. I checked yesterday and they were down to 7 so they had a big surge in the week for sales.

Untold Legends low in stock? I noticed it at a number of stores but the number of copies available is limited (2 or 3 in stock depending on the store).

Anout 200K people.

Hell, every place I've been to since the PSP launch has quite a lot of hardware but has been sold out on all software. Is this just a case of overshipping one item and undershipping the rest?

Yeah, posted last week. Surprising, but does that warrant a rolleyes? Its a rather competent dungeon hack that has some niceties I wish its big brothers on the consoles had. It's not a darling with the reviewers but it doesn't do anything particularly wrong (save load times) that would warrant it being overlooked.

*insert "WHAT WHAT WHAT" dog pic here*

Seriously, WTF?

I haven't played it and from what I hear it isn't bad...but there ARE much better launch games available if you know what I mean.

50/200 PSPs? No wonder Sony didn't sell out. I have 3-4 friends looking to buy one and every store is entriely sold out. I live in the NYC area, that's probably where they should have shipped more. This is a lot of stores btw: Best buy, Kmart, Walmart, 4-5 EBs, a few gamestops, Circuit City, CompUSA, Blockbuster, pretty much every chain.

I ran by EB on the long shot that they'd have Ridge Racer. They actually had about a dozen of them.

I was actually a little disheartened that my quest for RR was so easy. I felt like Indiana Jones walking into the lost city of stone, only to find an undead monk with a fully stocked Holy Grail stand. I accomplished my objective, but I feel strangely unfulfilled.

Nevertheless, the game rocks.

P.S. is anyone else shocked that in spite of the huge number of MGA! tradeins, EB is only shaving the retail price by $3? Anyone know where I can get it cheap yet?

Bish, both games are available on futureshop's website

Ridge Racer are scarce everywhere but plentifull in wal-marts

Just here to let you know how the PSP is doin' in dismal Pittsburgh. At the local EB they still had 15 of the 20 PSP's they ordered. Then again, this is Pittsburgh.

Funny how this is the opposite of the PS2 launch, where you couldn't find the hardware for months but there were 8 million copies of Fantavision and Evergrace hanging around.

My local Walmart's got all the launch titles, a dozen or more PSPs, and some Intec accessories. They've easily got half of their original launch shipment, if not more. A small city based largely on agriculture isn't exactly teeming with people excited about spending $250 on the PSP.

PSP sold so much at my local shops that people are sleeping there overnight waiting for future shipments. No lie!

lollers. I'm so skeptical. If this were truth, you'd need to supply photos. Because it'd hit the headlines already
