Just a heads up for the Bay Area folk:

There's a (possibly crappy) little 1 day anime convention up in Berkeley this Sunday called "Anime Destiny" - http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~animage/animed/

They have Egan Loo doing a panel... that might be interesting... (he knows a bunch of the Bandai folks and has done some stuff with both Gundam and Escaflowne)

There's a band playing at 8pm that night from Japan called "The Beautiful Losers" which I've been doing some work for. (They're arriving this Friday as they have a gig in San Rafael next Friday, I mentioned this anime thing and they became interested and signed up.)

TBL is mostly americans (with one guy from India who moved to/parents live in Canada) who all work in Japan and decided to form a band there. The lead singer (Raj) sang the OP song for the Bebop movie as well as a song or two for Wolf's Rain. He's also been a voice Actor in Resident Evil: Dead Aim, Steel Batallion, Bloody Roar 4 and had a song in Guitar Freaks (Bobby Sue and Skinny Jim).

Since we know some of the same people in Japan, and he only recently (at Fanime) realized how big anime and games are in the US, I've been helping them learn about stuff here and trying to help the band establish themselves/improve their image in the states. I'll probably go on Sunday for a few hours to the con but mainly to see them play at 8.

If you live in the area, it might be interesting to attend, but I can't think of what they really have to offer. It might be fun... but outside of the concert...

Raj Ramaya? His vocals on the track Strangers from Wolf's Rain are incredible. It's my favorite song in the entire show. He also sang a song in the first Gungrave game.
