I don't think FROM games will ever leave PC but I can see Sony making something like Bloodborne 2 a timed PS exclusive. Xbox is the only platform in danger of losing future FROM games since sales on that platform are significantly lower than PC and PS and Sony sees MS as competition at the end of the day.

It's partly a byproduct of how much Microsoft worked to drive certain bits of drivel very very deep into the collective subconscious of gamers and gaming media. Things like "Gamepass increases sales" "when we all play we all win" etc etc.

The other part of it is, Sony is a company that isn't really out to be loved, their music side is a fierce copyright warrior, Playstation has been really really not very communicative with its audience for a while now (maybe because they know that what's they're doing rn is unpopular?)..etc

I think if nothing else, SIE is definitely getting From under its umbrella, the synergy when it comes to tech and strategy is honestly very strong, plus SIE is the subsidiary that Sony chose to be its existing investment arm in From.

I think Sony wants to have a full front to back IP development pipeline and Kadokawa is fully equipped to deliver on that.

I don't think we will see a merger of Crunchyroll and PS+ unless it creates value for Sony itself. Maybe with Kadokawa they would be able to leverage such a thing?

And The same fromsoft that releases one game a gen?😂😂don't get me wrong their games are dope if that's your thing, but I think 90% of team green will be fine just as they were with bloodbourne.
 
Sony is being weird about it trying to only buy bits and pieces of Kadokawa

Kadokawa is one of Japan's biggest manga publishers, why the fuck wouldn't Sony want that in addition to the anime and video games stuff lmao

But I'm guessing Sony will eventually figure out the opportunities to make anime and video games from successful manga and be happy with just swallowing the entire company

People still think that this is mainly about from software? It is Anime/Manga deal in the first place, not sure with crunchy roll Sony will be allowed the M&A in some markets. In addition, what happened with organic growth :):)

What happened is that some illiterates stopped reading at "organic growth" and missed the part about "and select acquisition" right afterwards. Not to mention that was a goal of SIEs growth strategy from 4 or 5 years ago. This is an acquisition for Sony Group that would benefit multiple divisions.

Well, I'll have some hope that fate doesn't befall the remaining Zenimax or ABK studios. Or that there won't be anymore Tango Gameworks-style shutdowns.

Then again, they did kill Mixer after six months so who knows :/

Last gen they had 3 big releases alone. Bloodborne, Dark Souls III and Sekiro. Elden Ring and Armored Core so far this gen. Look into their history. You'll clearly be surprised.
