Have you listened to any of her music? Her first single, Work, is pretty much the story of her life in Australia and how she got from there to here.

Besides that, she lives in the US now. Has lived in the US for almost a decade, and the US is where she made most of her connections and started branching out culturally. So I don't know why you need her to rap about Australia...

"Branching out culturally" would be one way to describe It. Jockeying the blandest, safest and most generally consumable traits from the standard American guff would be another. That track quickly descended into the nondescript "struggle", the "hustle". With a phony accent.

Upon listening i'd say she's a better rapper than Green though so i'll give her that.

I seriously doubt any dirt that have on her could even come close to being as bad as Bill Cosby's decades of drugging and raping women. That's as fucked up as it gets!

Does Anonymous have ADD or something?
It seems like that they received some heavy criticism from other Anon groups.

You mean she came here, tried and failed to become a model, then a pop star, and then became a rapper as a last ditch option. All while fucking dudes in the industry. Now TI writes her lyrics and she gets catchy hooks from pop stars. Such an inspirational story.

.

But careful, that girl on Twitter may accuse you of slut shaming again.

No, I'm sure her story is in fact inspiring a lot of young women.

So the fuck what? lol. I'm not even trying to cape, but c'mon son.

Roy's right. Which also feeds into people's criticisms of her as an artist and a person. That "your government" shit don't fly when you've been living somewhere for hella long.

1) She didn't fail to become a modeled. She's signed.

2) The modeling came after she started rapping. Girl needs to make money to live, and she's tall and hot. Why not? I don't know where you're getting your version of events from, seeing as Iggy had already released a mixtape in the US before she was signed to a modeling agency.

3) If we cut out every rapper who did this thing less for the love of the craft and more for the money, the entire industry would be decimated.

It's possible that she's just faking the accent but it's almost possible that she isn't. She left Australia at 16. So she's been living there for almost 10 years. That's a long time and it's not uncommon for people to start losing their accent. You pick up on local dialects and you don't want to stand out so you start to speak like everyone else. I know an Irish dude that has been living in the US for many years and he has no Irish accent anymore.

I mean, Iggy's accent is still there. You hear her in interviews and her Australian is still very present.

People are mad because she drops the accent when she performs...but this isn't unusual at all in music. Artists tend to take on the accents/dialect common in the music they're inspired by.

In Iggy's case it's possible it's genuine but the fact is if she wanted any kind of success in America she would have had to adopt an American accent so it all seems quite convenient.

If she rapped with an Aussie accent, especially in America, none of us would have heard of her, the American hip-hop community is still flat out intolerant of foreign rap music for most part. It probably doesn't help that the foreign acts they do see are cheap and fraudulent knock offs of their own stuff.

I was shocked when I heard people like Phil Collins talk for the first time.

I have a feeling that if they got what they wanted, they'd regret it really fast. lol

Yeah, i'm not sure why people criticise her for rapping with an American accent. The rap/hippityhop we hear in Australia is 95% American, 5% Hilltop Hoods.

Now, people criticising her for having bad music? That I can understand.

she was already semi nude in Change Your Life. i have no idea what they were thinking.

I mean, this entire time they stated they weren't going to post a sex tape. It seemed like the material was more to do with her having done something awful. Not sure where people got that their goal was to post a sex-tape when almost all their posts said they aren't in the business of posting porn etc.

Not taking a side or anything, just can't figure out how people got "they're gonna put up her sex tape" from "To reiterate, no sex tape of any kind will be released. Again, we are not in the business of porn. That doesn't mean we don't have it."

Man, Q-Tip put it down TBH. No more need to talk about appropriation, I think he's hit the nail on the head when it comes to respect.

He's right but should've waited to say this. He's Q-Tip a living legend of this hip-hop culture. It's not hard for a living legend to get in contact with Iggy. Say this to her when he sees her instead of contacting her via twitter. We don't know what knowledge Iggy has about hip-hop culture. To assume that because she's Australian and white that her knowledge of hip-hop culture is lacking in some way is a bit disheartening. At least have the decency to talk to her in person about this. Notice I'm not disagreeing with the context of Q-Tip's statement.

Everyone can be Anon and yeah, @youranonnews seems pissed.
I saw yesterday they tweeted that this new Anon is "not part of our hive".

Which is the main problem. "Anonymous" is all-encompasing. Anyone can consider themselves Anon. Some are good. Some are bad. But since they all call themselves Anon, outsiders (Like the media and such) will just assume they're all the same.
