searched "Potter" and didn't find this posted yet.
From ew.com:

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Harry Potter fans, because J.K. Rowling won't tell you. According to the author, at least one more beloved Hogwarts witch or wizard will die in the upcoming sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, though she's mum on which of Harry's companions won't survive to Book 7. In a set of recently posted questions from fans on her website, Rowling answered the question, ''Are you going to kill any more characters?'' with a terse ''Yes. Sorry.''

At least Harry himself is safe for the moment; Rowling has said in earlier interviews that Harry will survive at least until the seventh and final book, though she's hinted that the student wizard may not make it past the last page and safely into adulthood. Rowling has also not been afraid to kill off beloved characters in the past, as in the most recent novel, 2003's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which saw the death of [SPOILER ALERT!]
Harry's godfather and mentor, Sirius Black.

Fans will have to wait to find out until the publication of Half Blood Prince, which the Associated Press reports is due sometime next year, though Rowling and her publishers have not named a date.

I hope it's Hagrid =P

5 gets you 12 on Dumbledore

I'm going with Dumbledore, too.

However, she didn't say if it was a good guy or a bad guy, that seems to be an assumption made by the EW writer.

Well the fact that she is slightly apologetic about it leads me to believe it will be another goodguy. I think I'll go with Dobby or Hagrid getting offed.

And Harry Potter will die in the last book, nobly sacrificing himself to destroy Voldemort in some fashion. That's my guess.

Rowling said it's going to be a Hogwart student, right ? If so, my guess is on Neville. The only bad Hogward student that I could think of is Draco Malfoy, and I highly doubt he would be killed off in this book. Maybe in the seventh book, which would be something major...

My bet is on Dumbledor. The past few books have really made a point of bringing up his age and how old he's feeling. I've always figured he would die, and I just don't think it would be worth killing him if you didn't get to do another book where Harry had to live without him.

I can't see Draco dying, yet. I do think we have a inevitable confrontation with him and Harry in book 7. Can't imagine Draco won't join with Voldemort once he hits adulthood.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefer Hagrid dead:)

Dumbledore kicking the bucket would add the most drama to the book. It always feel like no matter what happens, he'll come at the end to fix everything. Something just felt wrong when he was gone briefly in book 2 and 5. I wouldn't be surprised if Rowling do kill him. I hope not though...

Something tells me Rowling has big plans for Neville, so he could be it.

Didn't Rowling express interest in exploring Harry's life after Hogwarts in an 8th book, not part of the 7 book series? Harry can't be dead if she does go with that plan...

No way would any writer, especially a writer of books aimed at children, make a character the focus of 7 books, and have him have to suffer through a terrible life (yes, his life still sucks, and will continue to do so until Voldemort is dead), and kill him off in the end. Not a chance.

She never said only one would die. That article just assumed it was one. She just said more will die. That means it could be more than one. Anyway, ummm... I say Lupin for some reason. Then all of his dads friends will be dead or evil.

I don't think she specifically mentioned Harry, but there was an interview a few months back where she said she might end up doing more than seven books.

Sorry
Didn't think anyone, who haven't read book 5 yet, would want to to read potential spoiler on book 6.
Spoiler tag now added. Again, real sorry.

It's Ron Weasley

That would be the next best thing to Hagrid.
And Harry can hook up with Hermione in book 7. :D

Evidently you don't know Rowling... ;)

I hope Hagrid doesn't die... I like him. Killing Dumbledore off would be too cliche, so I hope she doesn't do that... Killing Hermione or Ron off, though... I like both of them too, but I think that at this point that would be the best route to go :|

I want Hagrid dead, but I highly doubt Rowling has the guts to kill him off in book 6. Curse that big oaf who always mess stuff up !

Umm.. has she written anything other than Harry Potter? If not, then I know just as much about her as you do, unless you know her personally. And I'm telling you, with 100% certainty, she will not kill off Harry, regardless of what she says to the press.

Damn your spoilers in titles! Some people are so inconsiderate.

I guess it was pretty likely more Hogwart's people would die, but honestly, when will people start thinking about people who hate spoilers? (The answer's never, sadly.)

Potter won't die. I'll rip the leather elbow patches off my tweed coat if it's not Dumbledore. And I think Snape's going to get it, too.

Yea, and it's not like there were hints to that nature dropped in Order of the Pheonix.

I was incredibly pissed at the spoiler of someone dying in Order. Why?

Because I was CONVINCED it would be Dumbledore, but the fucking line on the back of the book was from Dumbledore.

So, I knew, until he said that line, he couldn't die.

It was annoying.

If you actually go to Rowling's website you'll discover that what she says is actually rather innocuous... it goes something like this:

Q: Will someone die in Half Blood Prince?

A: Yes, sorry.

Itty bitty rant for those that have read Phoenix:
Of COURSE someone's going to die. Fucking VOLDEMORT is on the loose. Yeesh. She doesn't allude at all to the importance of the character(s) that'll get the axe. I'm betting several characters are killed, not all important of course, but come on, people, we're talking a big WAR is about to erupt. People. Will. Die.

Anyway, can't wait for Half Blood Prince. And I really need to avoid the internet in the time leading up to its release. I was fortunate enough to go into Phoenix not knowing a damn thing, and boy was it worth it.
