Another Xbox 360 pic?

Considering the site took the time to watermark it, I would say it's real. Otherwise, they'll be the target of scorn from all of the internet once the real deal is shown. Plus, only one controller socket... who would be stupid enough to make a mock-up with only one controller socket? Sometimes this saying works: it's stupid enough to be true.
I'm with this guy. Another vote for real.

that's an infrared input socket. I do think this is the real deal guys. :lol

i've seen no article or quotes from them where they are representing this pic as the real deal.

anyone got a link to that?

Cmon guys, no console manufacturer would release something that looked THAT generic.
ummm so these are bad looking too?

You do realize you are not supposed to stack consoles on top of each other, right?

The number one rule of Home Theatre setup: never stack electronic components.

Element: The Samsung is a very sleek model made of solid metal and is a high def DVD player (HD-850) @ $199. The 360 is most likely going to be made out of plastic.

DVD players and an Apple PC AND the 360 are hardly comparible.

Not at all comparable, particularly with the latter :)

Certain things look out of proportion with this new pic, the design isn't as unfussy or as simple as either of the above two.

edit - that element is advocating the design might be telling of its authenticity?

Oxy, that G5 does not look generic and you know it. God is in details when it comes to design, and in the case of industrial design, also in materials. What looks silly on a picture might be much nicer in real life (and vice versa)

Looks a lot like the controller sockets on the original Xbox to me, which would make sense.

Yeah, if they're advertising this as a mockup, my points are moot. Anyone know?

Does it look about DC sized to you guys? I know there's no indication that's to scale, but given the crap MS got for the size of the Xbox, and the apparent dislike of the size in Japan, I can't believe they'd make it any bigger than that.

I mean if that is real, and not to scale, it could be getting pretty chunky.

I was expecting something slimmer, more like what Doom_Bringer posted, or that DVD player from element.

I know that, but Dumbass Jones doesn't. I don't stack any of my stuff, but I remember Xbox1's bulbous top being cited as one reason its design wasn't winning fans in Japan just because they couldn't put anything on top of it.

Agreed, if anything the design should be more streamlined - the colors are out of place for the disk drive and the font seems completely out of place. The power button is out of proportion with the rest of the unit.

Something akin to the Samsung player would be perfect.

The Kotaku X360 design article mentioned an oversized power button.

Of course, it doesn't lend legitimacy to this, necessarily, since the creator of any fake could take that into account..

I still think the PS2 is ugly as fuck. I'm used to it now, and it does look better in white, but it's never gonna win any awards. Of course it never had to compete against good looking competitors. Actually I quite like the GC personally, but from a general consumer point of view it was ridiculous.

It's from the SomethingAwful Forums, obviously. You don't even need to go to the forums to realize it. I don't know whether or not it's real, or where they got it from.

Hmm.... something about Oxy's posts makes me think this is real. Why would someone with ties to MS make an attempt to defend the design if it was fake?

I mean if it were me, and I knew it was fake, and someone said they thought it was generic I wouldn't even think about responding. It's just that person's opinion. But if it were real I might be inclined.

Oxy...am I reading to much into your post? Can you comment if this is real or fake?

And I'll state for the record that I think this looks a hell of a lot better than the Xbox and not bad.

I remember Edge getting a load of designers and artists to look at all the new consoles from an aesthetic perspective back before they launched. Actually I think the PS2 was out. I really wish I could remember what they said about everything, but I know they had a lot of praise for the GC as it had this sort of retro vibe to it.

I have the issue back in the UK, I'll try and dig it out when I'm back. If another thread like this comes up anyway.

The power button is what makes it look fake to me, the writing is all left to right, but the power button is right to left, so it's upside down.

IIRC they were (rightfully) negative about all of the designs. Theres yet to be an attractive videogames console. (Although one or two have come close (PSP), and certainly not the GC).

Aside from the big ass power button, which is just stupid,it looks fine...

The way Element is reacting makes me think it's real :P

Maybe it was mixed, I know it got some praise though.

Actually, it wasn't a normal Edge now I think about it, it was a special separate thing just focused on the next gen.

And come on, this is hot:

Though generally I agree with you.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same :\

Yep, I remember that too, and if I remember correctly, PS2 got the most praise there :D

Yeah that's it , that's the real deal look at the left side it even looks like that pic they posted (the colony one) id bet my life on it.

Also, based on the size of the disc tray it's apox about 12-13" across.

reading into it. I'm a fan of the style that apple and samsung have selected. I'd be very happy if xenon did something similar.

Seriously though, whats the point in havin the power button that big?It reminds me of those phones with the big ass numbers for people that have bad eye sight :lol

Well for what it's worth, PSP looks pretty much better than any console or any handheld device - nothing except for Ipod looks as appealing. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who disagrees, although I'm sure there are some who would :P

Is the stand by button sticking out or in or what? The lighting on that button doesn't match up to the rest of the pic...

Yeah, I'm confused about that too. That's the only thing that makes me thing this is fake. It looks pretty photo-real otherwise.

The DVD-HD841 is $99 at costco, and made out of the same stuff.

That was last years model, thus the price difference.

So is it real or fake? I'd be interested to see the entire unit in comparison.

I had the same problem as well but I guess its sticking out; it wouldn't make sense if it was inverted. There's something about the edges of the power buttons that screams Photoshop to me. I'm not buying it.

I agree. I'm really into the less is more approach in design
