Lol can't wait for the Dc films to come so this dick waving can reach critical mass and for comic discussion in off topic to implode

Saw it again thursday this time with the rest of my friends and man it holds up so well loved it even more than i did when i saw it at the preview screening, all the gags and great moments are even better with such a big crowd. I also work at a theatre and we were packed last night, this is gonna have huge legs, audiences are loving this especially the kids. Might cop a 3rd viewing of this sometime this weekend lol.

Just got back, was worried it could have been a weak movie. This was one of the most dangerous movies marvel old have done after guardians.

Thankfully this was amazing. Really pleased. Might not be my favorite of the bunch but it's still very good. The supporting cast was strong, the humour was on point and it did a nice job not playing it safe and throwing a big avenger in as a permanent anchor. The part with falcon was legitimately excellent, might have been the strongest part of the movie for me.

I'm just worried that marvels next few movies are all risky moves.

I'm stoked to see it for a second time later today

I wonder when the "it was never risky in the first place!" narrative is going to rear its head. Maybe never if the BO performance is mediocre.

They did such a great job with the fight scenes that Ant-Man really looks he could be one of the stronger Avengers. I can't wait to see what the Russos do with him in Civil War or Infinity Wars.

Thought the movie was just ok! I have no desire to see it again in the theaters. Maybe I'll enjoy the movie more upon it's home release.

Solid movie. Surely would have been better with Edgar at the helm, but oh well. Really fun and funny movie nonetheless. A hell a lot more enjoyable than Age of Ultron was.

Great movie, my 9 year olkd loved it too.

GoG>Avengers>Ant Man>Winter Soldier>A:AO>....

This is the first MCU movie I actively disliked. The dialogue was worse than Batman Forever. The shrinking action was cool and that's it. It was pretty terrible.
Edit: and the post credits scenes were entirely pointless. Did you guys watch a different movie?

I think you should re watch Batman Forever. Only comic book movie to even come close to the horrific dialogue the Schumacher Batman films have is The Spirit.

Honestly I prefer the movies when they're not crossovers. The crossovers lacked character growth and pull, and just felt like hours of senseless action. Hopefully the guys behind WS can make a good Avengers film.

A marvel finale took place in a seven year old girl's bedroom.

Just read that sentence to yourself over and over again.

o.o

When the trailers came out I was really hoping that would be the case just for the sake of changing things up a bit and because I thought it would include some creative action sequences.

I was very happy seeing this movie.

AoU? Witchcraft?

Abilties from alien technology experimentation =/= witchcraft

Her name is scarlet witch, I wonder what kind of trick she had up her sleeve, Yes alien tech that's what she does...

And can't you really fathom that the darker bits of AoU can be a bit scary for a nine year old?

From the spoiler thread, I haven't been able to find an answer to this:

I have a question about the
crazy, I think?
ants.
They were supposed to be able to conduct electricity, and in real life apparently they're attracted to electricity and can mass together to short things out.

In the movie, it seemed like Ant-Man was handing out some tiny package to each ant. Maybe that was the explosives? When he told them to short out the servers though, instead of suicidally cutting across circuits, it looked like they all had some little copper ball hovering over their head conducting lightning.
Did anyone catch what was happening?

In the movies, she and her bro get powers by being experimented on by Hydra using Loki's Specter. MCU Asgardians are an alien race. No magic or witchcraft at all

I'm not doubting that the movie could be scary to a young kid. Just odd that one would say the movie has witchcraft. It's like saying X-Men or Heroes involves witchcraft

Enjoyed it, 4/5. My cons are spoiler heavy so I'll save those for that thread.

Loved Rudd, liked Pym Douglas, Lilly was cool abeit underused. Stroll did his job, more memorable than Malekeith. I think had they focused on him more, he would've went into Handsome Jack levels of cool. Pena is goddamn funny and Cassie was too cute. Also, this movie used their Judy Greer more noteworthy then Jurassic and Tomorrowland.

Again cons, spoiler thread.

I see the box office is meeting expectations but I think this will finally make Marvel adjust a few things, especially their new hero films.

I have recently. It's better than this was. I seriously can't believe people liked this movie and especially that I seem to be the only one who didn't, especially since I typically like Edgar Wright's writing and actually liked every MCU movie so far.

Her name was Wanda throughout the movie. Pretty sure they never actually called her Scarlett Witch.

I love the subversion of the usual high-stakes final battles in these movies. Ugh, it was so charming.

but ironically the stakes felt much higher because of it...

Soo just came back from watching it.... and I can't find any faults with the movie, it was supremely excellent

why isn't michael pena in more movies? Dude was killing it.

after how disappointing AoU was I'm so glad this movie was great

also

the theatre was freaking packed for the early morning showing

This movie was great - thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. I especially liked the focus on the heist elements. The plot and villain aren't anything new but they work - the film balances action, humor, and seriousness pretty well. All the casting is spot-on. I really liked Rudd as Lang. Michael Peña deserves every award ever made.

That Rudd-Downey Jr. dynamic will be fun to see on screen.

That's cool you should just take it as each to their own like any normal person would instead of the whole lone bewilderment. I mean that's the only way I can take you saying Batman Forever is better than this with a straight face.

I'm really glad that this is the last superhero film of the year. Good way to end on a smaller scale no pun intended, hopefully Dr Strange does the same for next year.

I think you got it right.
I was surprised when the little copper balls shot up too, but I would guess that the harnesses just kept them from being killed. There are a ton of ants, but I don't think that Pym wants to used them as suicide bombers.

Movie was solidly ok.

Not the disruptive game changer of Cap 2, not mess of Thor 2.

It sits solidly at top of the mid tier Phase 2 flicks with Ultron and IM3 a little below them.

The Hope/Hank relationship got to me more than I was expecting.

I wanted a little more interaction with the big world.

The ants were cute. I actually wasn't expecting what happened to Antony.

The humor wasn't great, but it actually worked here instead of undercutting any tension. Ultron and the last Ironman were horrible with that.

The literal last minute love plot was kind of weak. And Cross was undercooked. The idea of your father figure rejecting you for someone you consider a scumbag seemed like it had huge dramatic potential, that was wasted to turn him into a villain that ties children to traintracks. That shot where
he wanted to cry at Pym HQ exploding
was great, Movie needed more of them.

I was expecting cop fiance to be a dick through the whole movie, so that was a pleasant surprise.

The very last stinger got me more excited in 30 seconds than the last two full Marvel flicks. Bring on Phase 3.

PS. What was up with Hope's haircut? She was a black robot-woman, Claire from Jurassic World was the orange robot-woman and she had the exact same do.

Suicide Squad comes out a month after Doctor Strange though...
