Well, here's her non-answer answer to a question about her stance on vaccines in a reddit AMA

I don't know if we have an "official" stance, but I can tell you my personal stance at this point. According to the most recent review of vaccination policies across the globe, mandatory vaccination that doesn't allow for medical exemptions is practically unheard of. In most countries, people trust their regulatory agencies and have very high rates of vaccination through voluntary programs. In the US, however, regulatory agencies are routinely packed with corporate lobbyists and CEOs. So the foxes are guarding the chicken coop as usual in the US. So who wouldn't be skeptical? I think dropping vaccinations rates that can and must be fixed in order to get at the vaccination issue: the widespread distrust of the medical-indsutrial complex.

Vaccines in general have made a huge contribution to public health. Reducing or eliminating devastating diseases like small pox and polio. In Canada, where I happen to have some numbers, hundreds of annual death from measles and whooping cough were eliminated after vaccines were introduced. Still, vaccines should be treated like any medical procedure--each one needs to be tested and regulated by parties that do not have a financial interest in them. In an age when industry lobbyists and CEOs are routinely appointed to key regulatory positions through the notorious revolving door, its no wonder many Americans don't trust the FDA to be an unbiased source of sound advice. A Monsanto lobbyists and CEO like Michael Taylor, former high-ranking DEA official, should not decide what food is safe for you to eat. Same goes for vaccines and pharmaceuticals. We need to take the corporate influence out of government so people will trust our health authorities, and the rest of the government for that matter. End the revolving door. Appoint qualified professionals without a financial interest in the product being regulated. Create public funding of elections to stop the buying of elections by corporations and the super-rich.

For homeopathy, just because something is untested doesn't mean it's safe. By the same token, being "tested" and "reviewed" by agencies tied to big pharma and the chemical industry is also problematic. There's a lot of snake-oil in this system. We need research and licensing boards that are protected from conflicts of interest. They should not be limited by arbitrary definitions of what is "natural" or not.

She's not outright anti-vaccine. But she's certainly playing to those voters.

it's a bad answer but it doesn't come off like she's anti vax as much as she's playing into populist fear of corporations, invoking the familiar 'Monsanto!' boogeyman that progressives use as the reason to adopt anti-science views like anti-GMO et al. I guess people will tar her as anti-vaxx but the evidence is thin at best that she is.

Can we start giving these people prison sentences? Let drug users go and give these people that space. Or take away their children at least and mandate vaccines.

is there any particular reason why these sorts of groups are way more... lets call it militant in the US?

Gaf is the only US-related place where I get to read US-related "news", and it's also the only place where I come across all kinds of social action groups that are way more in your face than anything I'm used to...

I've met all kinds of people who were advocating something they believe in, but none of them were anywhere near the level of dedication I read on gaf on an almost daily base.

The age of information is the reason why they exist. It's too easy to find others that think alike. Or that just stumble across a website promoting conspiracies and they just take it as the truth.

How zen, the Internet has given rise to not only the prevalence of information but also that of misinformation.

Freedom of religion and freedom of speech give rise to backwards school systems where evolution can be taught as a theory like creationism. It gives room for all tinfoil theories. Combine that with a lot more anti-government feelings. In Europe, there are less people opposed to their governmental laws like mandatory vaccinations.

Here in Ashland, OR they were playing the fucking VAXXED movie at the local theater. Then again, I live in an area where most people think contrails are chemtrails and some believe that there are some aliens living on Mt Shasta. Fuckin weirdddddd

If Anonymous is looking for a legit target to go after, those Anti-Vaxxers would be the ones.

Just saying.

The 12-year-old is a genius and I'm glad he's getting more attention drawn to the vaccine issue and the utter stupidity of people who are anti-vaccine.

They exist though and there are more out there than I thought. I think social media has allowed people who are inclined to believe in things like this to congregate in places that strengthen those beliefs, which helps them spread a lot more efficiently.

Amazing. Makes you think to wonder if reincarnation is real or past lives. Or she's just a genius.

IIRC one or both of her parents is or was a professional reporter, so I'm sure she has had the best kind of support. Great parents make such a huge difference.

Actually what DO antivaxxers say about the sudden and widespread decrease of vaccinated diseases? That it just happened on it's own?

Better sanitary conditions is one I heard.

When it comes to measles, this video with a clip from the Donna Reed Show I've seen pop up from time to time over the last couple years as to how measles wasn't a big deal back then which is either from their ignorance or just intentionally misleading propaganda, maybe both.
