That ant jumping into the spider was the sacrifice that allowed the other ants to kill the spider. Spider gets rekt by venom, then the other ants come in.

Holy reverend crap, I've seen that gif so many times and I always feel sad for the poor ant and I was like "fucking spider!!!!" (and I love spiders).

Now I just learned the spider was the good guy all the time :(

Fucking ants!!!!!!!!!!!

How does that speed compare to the Mantis Shrimp?

Trap-jaw ant closes its jaws at a speed of 60 m/s with a force 300x the ant's body weight.
Mantis shrimp punch-out operates at 12-23 m/s, but in the water, creating a cavitation effect (water implosion due to the collapse of small water-free areas within a field, generating force/sound/light) with a force 2500x the shrimp's body weight.
There are also mantis shrimp that use spears instead of clubs:

... Wait... Antlions are real?!
I had no fucking idea either oooohhh my godddddf

Well I'm glad someone learned something.

That gif is pretty funny.

The video was interesting as well. I was thinking the spider would be like the wasp taking on bees. I figured the spider would be wrecking ants left in right but his death was imminent. Instead like 4 ants take him out. The jumping ant starts the takedown process and he barely takes out another.
