Thats what defense ammo is for. Again it's also an issue of where your living and building materials used in your area. Defense ammo should take care of most overpenetration concerns, and really I rather have the flexibility and ease of use of a 9mm pistol over a cumbersome 5.56
 
If I had a choice for HD between an AR and a handgun, I'm grabbing the handgun. Even a 14.5 carbine is hard to sweep rooms with unless you've been trained to do so. I still rather have a shotgun though pointed at the door or down a hallway/stairs.

But if this was COD, I'll take a 9" SBR AR in .300 AAC/BLK in CQB situations.
 
I'd like to congratulate the CPC Canada for following through with their promise of scrapping the Long Gun Registry. Bill C-19 has moved into the senate, which means it is as good as passed.

I was going to buy a mini-14 in celebration, but instead bought a 7.5" AR15 based PDW. Awaiting delivery :)

Depends on how much money you had to spend, you could always build a .22 on the AR platform, so you can mod the shit out of it. I actually plan on getting a dedicated CMMG .22 upper for a quick swap on my AR. It's pricey but you get an upper made from aluminum and not plastic like most .22 rifles.

If they are exactly what you are after, grab one. Keep in mind, the M4 style stock is not really a very good solution for most rifles. It is necessary on the AR style rifles becuase they have a fixed buffer tube. Without that in the way, a folding or fully retractable stock can be much more useful.

Nice. I even read on athe CBC article that two members of the NDP even voted for it.

That said you should have gotten the Mini-14 its so fun. Mine even has an EVIL flash suppressor And Bayonet Lug of DEATH! lol

If you're looking for a .22 get the 10/22 or if you can pony up the extra cash the M&P15-22 is a great platform if you don't mind the plastic. I wish I bought a .22 rifle for cheap target shooting. Can't go wrong with 500 rounds for 15 bucks.
 
Picked up my AR from jail today.

Threw on a Magpul MOE handguard and Magpul vertical grip. Optics is a Primary Arms AA Red Dot Sight. Now if I can only find some ammo for cheap before the zombie hoard arrives.
 
Man, I hope we get some nice weather here soon. I want to take "my" .22 out and sight it. Apparently there's a range not too far from home I might check out.

Sold my NEF Norinco shotgun a week ago for a hunting (easier to do barrels) shotgun and jsut agreed to buy a Mossburg 500 with 2 barrels a 28 field one and second is a slug barrel which is smooth but with upgraded rifle sites.

Best part he's a cop in the town right next to me, and even better he's the departments armorer and I can pick it up from him at work tonight! :)
 
Does anyone here know any good spots to go shooting in Pittsburgh?

I really want to go shooting soon and try a few guns before I purchase one.

I just love that it shoots 45ACP. It seems like it would be a ton of fun for range dickery. Heck I would have liked to have even seen Taurus's 28 GAUGE revolver they showed at Shot Show 2011, that alas was canceled when BATFE ruled it to be a destructive device meaning you'd need to get it with a tax stamp. lol

They are considered short barreled shotguns.

CPC12020, Article 2: (c)(1) As used in this section, a "short-barreled shotgun" means any of the following:
(A) A firearm which is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell and having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.
(B) A firearm which has an overall length of less than 26 inches and which is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell.
(C) Any weapon made from a shotgun (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if that weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.
(D) Any device which may be readily restored to fire a fixed shotgun shell which, when so restored, is a device defined in subparagraphs (A) to (C) inclusive.

I guess I have a problem because I just bought a Ruger 10/22 for $199 + tax and DROS. Came with a free weekend certificate for Appleseed. $80 value so I couldn't pass up on it. Cheap plinking rifle and a weekend to learn how to shoot a rifle for $200.
 
Purchased a Beretta 391 shotgun last weekend. Sadly I leave for a work trip to Asia the weekend I get it.

I'm on a total Beretta kick right now as I really want to buy a Px4 Storm 9mm.

The Storm looks great but after shooting it and a 92fs back to back, I would much rather have a 92fs. It may be more personal preference but it felt better and I was able to shoot more accurately with it.
 
I received a 10/22 for christmas a long time ago, replaced the barrel with a pac-lite barrel and a hogue overmolded stock that I bought on sale (50% off) and put a compact 3-9 power scope on it. Wouldn't trade it for a higher priced gun. If i were to buy a 10/22 today, i'd buy a used one from 1990-2005 or so for cheap and purchase the accessories you want. They're everywhere.

Was it the sites on the storm you had trouble with? The ones it comes with are completely useless, and if wearing any type of protection eye/ear, it is made worse. With a RDS the thing is incredibly accurate. Found the gun a bit odd, but it shoots fantastic.
 
I don't recall. It was several months ago. I probably only put 50 rounds through it. I've shot the 92fs much more. Perhaps it's just a "getting used to it" period. I'm sure it's a great gun and I'm not knocking it, however it didn't give me that "I want it" feeling.
 
I'm shopping around for a decent OU shotgun for clays. I've heard good things about Baikal's shotguns. Namely they're cheap workhouse shotguns built like tanks. Anyone have any experience with 'em? I found a used one for like $300 so I'm kinda eager.

I'm finally picking up my shotgun tonight though! With that I'm all set for hunting with shotgun or lever action.

One thing I like about the Mossberg 500 is it's so damn modular. You can take a turkey slug gun and make it into a tactical HD gun. It's just so versatile and easy to get parts.

Awesome - I need to pick one up one of these days, just because they make tons of noise, fire and smoke - the local gun shop has a bunch for around $100 each.

Can't wait to try it out. Dry-firing with snap-caps reveals a heavy DA trigger, but a very decent SA trigger.

This gun is pretty fun to shoot. The DA trigger was too much for my crippled hands but the SA was perfect. I was shooting hollow point .357 ammo out of it and the recoil is amusingly light. Oh, and if you hold it like me with the "proper" semi-auto grip, and your support hand thumb is pointing straight to the target it'll have a lot of powder on it when you're done lol

Yea - I spent a lot of my dry-fire time making sure my thumbs weren't forward on the frame as they are when I shoot my semiautos, though the gun's shape/grip sort of naturally discourages thumbs-forward anyway. I sort of wish the grip were just a bit fatter and/or had some finger grooves, but it's still a very comfortable/natural gun to hold and point.

Thanks! The 1911 is a Para GI Expert that (aside from some FTFs with WC recoil buffers installed) blew me away by firing everything I fed it after hearing horror stories about 1911 reliability.

The CZ is probably still my favorite handgun that I've fired - that particular one has run through something like 7-8K+ rounds with zero failures and nothing but the Hogue grips (highly recommended) and a new recoil spring (factory-weight) in mods, and only cost me about $500 new. For having such a hard life, that CZ is still my 'go-to' gun and I can't recommend them highly enough.
