Any gun owners lurking...

It's supposed to be, I haven't been carrying like I should recently due to college. I'd have to stash it in my car and hope nobody notices me transfer it from holster to the lock box lol. Makes me nervous.

No doubt.

I will say that if you're interested in the CZ-75, you should just pick one up before they adjust the prices even further - they're still one of the best deals going in SA pistols, despite getting more expensive as more people realize what they're missing. They used to be $400 guns, and they're getting ever closer to $600+ every quarter.

just got a Glock 17 last weekend amazing gun!!

I hear a lot a bad things about Monarch ammo. I buy most my ammo at Wallyworld because its the cheapest place next to ordering online or buying through a group buy. Federal ammo has never FTF, squib, fragment, etc. on me. I'm happy with them.

I shot my Federal HST 9mm 124gr +P the other day and I cringed at the fact that they were about a dollar a round. Had to make sure it fed through my XD and my XD just chewed through all 40 I shot (Left 10 for SD). Those +P rounds are definitely hot.

I've purchased and fired countless thousands of Monarch 9mm in both steel and brass-cased varieties with nary an issue, but your mileage may vary. The only brand I've had any problems with was Winchester, but that was just 1 bullet out of a 100-ct box of WWB that wasn't seated properly in the case.

The way I see it, bulk ammo is bulk ammo, they're not held up to the highest standard. Occasionally it's not gonna go bang.

I think I'm gonna upgrade the trigger on my XD9 and a new hammer for my Ruger 10/22 whenever I get it. Should be best bang for the buck.

I bought a Trijicon this afternoon for a good price.

I need to stop buying shit.

I'm really considering a ptr91 once I get my student loans paid off. That or an m14, but for some reason the 91 just calls my name.

Awesome - I need to pick one up one of these days, just because they make tons of noise, fire and smoke - the local gun shop has a bunch for around $100 each.

EDIT:

My Rhino 60DS arrived today, and will be joining me at the range tomorrow morning.

Can't wait to try it out. Dry-firing with snap-caps reveals a heavy DA trigger, but a very decent SA trigger.
Damn that looks nice.
These are the only two I have currently.

Very nice, what model Smith is that.
Yeah, my friend has to get rid of his stuff because he's having a kid.
Good shit.

Thanks! As for how the Rhino shot, it was a hell of a tack driver. I first tried it with the .38+P (Speer 158gr FMJ), and my first three shots at 15yards were cloverleafed, while the rest of the cylinder ended up about 1" or so away, but the whole group was 6" or so high. After a bit of sight adjustment, the gun was just amazing. Recoil with the .38s was laughable - like shooting my pops' 6" Tracker .22WMR.

.357 (Remington 125gr JSP) was definitely more intense, requiring another readjustment of the sights (or just adjusting POA accordingly) - I'd wager that the gun was sighted in for .357 at the factory, because I ultimately ended up returning the rear sight right to where it was when I got the gun. The recoil was manageable, but you're definitely aware you're throwing that bullet with a hell of a lot more energy, all of which goes straight back into the web of your hand. After a full box, I had to take a break - that part of my right hand was sore, and it affected my shooting for the rest of the day. It's definitely a hell of a lot better than my friend's GP100 at taming .357 recoil (we tried them back to back), but Newton's third law isn't being broken or anything.

I think the Rhino would benefit from a wider/rounder grip, and will be experimenting with creating one, since the aftermarket is pretty much nonexistent.

All told, I'm super happy with it, and can't wait to take it back out.

Wait I thought assault rifles were banned in Chicago ?

I am assuming you reside in Chicago off your username.

If they are now allowed what kind of hurdles do I need to jump to obtain one myself. The hassle to legally own this pistol within city limits was bad enough.

Handguns were banned in Chicago, but the SCOTUS just shot that and the DC ban down. If only the SCOTUS would shoot down the idiotic magazine lock and 10 round magazine limit....

Good news though. Since the geniuses who figured more gun control is the way to go, CCWs might be more accessible in California since they've banned open carry. Used to be California courts would rule against CCW appeals saying that there's open carry, now there is none.

They're the most ridiculous things ever, but LaserLyte is currently selling their pistol bayonets (in green or tan) for $2.50 + a flat $12.95 shipping (seemingly regardless of quantity), so order a bunch and give them to your handgun-owning friends as goofy stocking stuffers/gag gifts.

YES, just bought three! Not even sure if it'll fit on my new M&P, oh well.

It varies from state-to-state. Here are the rules for Texas:

Hmm, thanks. I was looking more into the Northern states, if I'm being honest. Particularly the states of NY, Penn, Illinois or Washington... I'm probably going over there to work and I can choose from Seattle Chicago Pittsburgh Philly or Brooklyn. Well I CAN choose more, but I don't want to go over to southern states as I can't stand the heat (which unfortunately rules out Austin and S. Francisco)... And there are a few more northern cities I can choose from but... let's just say I'm not that excited about living in Baltimore... =/ lol.

Must be nice to drop a grand on optics. Yeah I'm jelly. ACOG + Doctor RDS is the way to go if you can afford that setup. You'll be killing zombies at almost any range.

Didn't drop a grand, which is why I had to buy it. I spent $500.

And yes, assault rifles are still illegal in Chicago city limits.

You have to always check on a state by state basis, but this gives a little run down of the US and the different states: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concealed_carry_in_the_United_States

Brookyln means NYC. Only criminals can have guns in NYC.

PA is the complete opposite on NYC though. All of the limits and bans there (generally speaking) don't exist in PA.

Can you guys explain to me the requirements of a concealment license over there? (I'm from Europe)

In WA you just need to fill out some paperwork at the county court. You need to be a US citizen or permanent resident alien with permanent resident card (green card). Here's all the details: http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/firearms/faconcealreq.html

San Fran is not very hot btw.

Are you going to be using a green card or what? How long are you planning on being in the States? I'd avoid NYC if you're wanting to own a gun.

The goal is 10-15 years. And I have an in to get citizenship, so then I'll just see where it goes from there.

Owning a gun isn't a priority, for me... it's more of a novelty, I wouldn't mind getting me a 92FS, always loved that gun. As for the concelament deal I was just wondering how easy it was to get to carry it around. Either way, NYC isn't my priority. Chicago is. In my list it's Chicago>Seattle>NYC>PA area.

Chicago isn't that good either.

In terms of ease of ownership (currently) it's PA>Seattle>Chicago>NYC

Thinking of getting a shotgun for my dad for his Bday coming up. From what I can tell in Florida, there is nothing that has to be done, you just want to have a unofficial document between the two parties saying you are transfering the weapon over?

Hes been looking at a shotgun for a while and likes me pistol grip mossberg, so thinking of getting him one this week as hes so tough to shop for lol.

Do more research about the cities. Brooklyn gets hotter and colder than San Francisco.

Well done, an excelent purchase.I have the 23 myself, but now the next important thing is what holster to go for?I have just ordered this

What you think?

How often do you plan to carry? I find shoulder holsters to be kinda chaffing and annoying after a few hours. You also have to wear big coats/jackets to help conceal the firearm. For CC purposes, I always prefer an IWB holster. I personally use a Don Hume http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=35 for my XD9 sub compact. It is very comfortable, fits well on me and holds my pistol snugly in place. You can also get away CCing with an IWB holster wearing shorts and a jacket, not so much with a shoulder holster.

Holsters are such a personal item though. What one person likes, another will dislike. There are just so many options and styles of carry, you really have to just keep trying different models until you find what you like.

I started out thinking I would love to get a thigh holster for my .45, turns out, I hate thigh holsters, lol. Much prefer an OWB holster for my .45 and an IWB for my 9mm sub. I am thinking about getting a chest holster for when I go backpacking though.

Firearms don't have to be registered in FL. Sales between private parties require no paperwork or background checks.

Anybody got tips for removing cosmoline? The Mosin Nagant I bought was covered in it like crazy. I was reading to use mineral oil and I'll probably go with that unless someone has better suggestions.

Isn't California in general always sunny all year round? I need cold and rain and the possibility of snow to function properly, lol...

Uh, there is a Southern California, and a Northern California.

San Francisco is in the lower part of Northern California. Snow is extremely rare in SF, (because of the ocean) but it gets quite cool, especially at night, and it's hardly always sunny. They are rather famous for their amazing fog. Do a Google Image search for "San Francisco Fog" and you'll see what I mean...

They do get heaps of snow in the mountains of CA though.

Bottom line: does it get really cold in San Francisco? As in, snowy weather and real cold? That's what I want/need.

Bottom Line: No. But it rarely gets really hot. It has the coolest summers of any major US city.

If you want to freeze your balls off, go to Minneapolis/St. Paul or Chicago. NYC will be too mild for you. But all those places get way hotter than SF in the summer too.

I've been to NYC in December, it's cold enough. If it's enough for it to snow, I'm not complaining.

Anyway, there you go as to why Chicago is my first option, ahah. Minnesota is way too far into no man's land. I need somewhere with more cities nearby. Being European gives you that nasty habbit of wanting to travel regularly. (I know Seattle isn't the best option when it comes to that, but hell, I'm willing to settle, if the place is right...)

Take the action and receiver out and let it sit in a bucket of paint thinner overnight, as for the stock, there are myriad ways to do it

So are all gun shops inept? The shop I bought my shotgun from is part of a 10 store chain. The gun I bought was listed as being in their warehouse. So when I went to pick it up they had not transferred it to that store. After 3 days they can't even find it.

Yeah, I've been buying online since I started buying guns due to the savings I could make and the benefit of not dealing with lazy gun shop owners.

On a side note, Here is a picture of the SAR 48 (full auto FAL) I picked up! (It was worked on by Frontline armory by the previous owner, he had it turned to a IZZY HB. I still haven't decided if I am going to send it off and have it made into a para)

Now I just need to wait 6 or so months till I get it, FML......
