Any gun owners lurking...

Handguns, lord no, and then you need to make sure it's on the CA approved list. Truthfully check out Calguns as they know the most on the subject.

You can purchase an off label handgun in California, it has to be second hand or purchased from a LEO. Basically how people are getting XDms here in this state.

Anybody here attempt to paint their firearms? Duracoat seems like a good solution.

I'm surprised they leave that open. I mean I was able to get my Mini-14 because CA won't let it's own citizens buy it. If they did I'd be surprised if a ton of merch might wind up outside the state.

You can get a Mini-14 here, its treated the same any other rifle (AK or AR). But yeah thats law for you, if its not specifically singled out, its technically "legal" if you work around the law.

Funny I thought it would be covered under Roberts Roos by name now. Heck I'm surprised the "M4 Carbine" (since AR-15 sporter is banned by name) is still on sale!

With my 2011 bonus I just got this, a Savage Arms Model 11 in 308 with a buckmaster scope.

That Savage AccuTrigger is insanely good. I love my 93R17 (currently wearing a bipod and 3-12x glass):

Buy a fun little long-barreled .22LR pistol and enjoy your new hobby? I'll be damned if someone tells me what I can't do with my free time and money.

Get her to go shooting first, then she can buy the guns ;)

My wife was the same way. It took me a few months to warm her up to the idea. I actually started by discussing the political side of it first. Once I had her on the side of firearms owners, it was easy to become one myself.

She even let me buy my 7 year old a 10/22 for his b-day.

Just came to show off my new pistol.

I was debating between a Glock 23 and a Beretta Px4 Storm (.40 cal version) and I decided to go with the Beretta because it was cheaper and I liked the feel of it better, I'm looking forward to trying it out:

I want to get a 1911 some day mainly just because I love the design of them, maybe I will reward myself when/if I find a better paying job

I've been to NYC in December, it's cold enough. If it's enough for it to snow, I'm not complaining.

Anyway, there you go as to why Chicago is my first option, ahah. Minnesota is way too far into no man's land. I need somewhere with more cities nearby. Being European gives you that nasty habbit of wanting to travel regularly. (I know Seattle isn't the best option when it comes to that, but hell, I'm willing to settle, if the place is right...)

It gets colder that a Polar Bears toenail here in Pittsburgh. Also getting a CC permit was extremely easy.

Took all of 3 weeks.

So gotta wait 9 more days to pick up my Ruger 10/22 [homer]But I'm angry now![/homer]

So my collection grows to two now with my Mosin.

Hoping I can find a C&R SKS for a good price.

Heh - you're going to spend 2-10x the cost of the 10/22 just buying stuff for it. It's easily the equal of the AR15 for tinkerers - there's just so much crap out there for them.

Yeah I think I am. I saw this M1 Carbine style stock for it thought it was cool.

Now I'm thinking of somehow making it look like the Paratrooper version with the folding stock.

If you're looking for cold/snow and good gun laws then the clear choice is Northern Utah. Summers can get pretty hot but not too bad really.

Have an opportunity to buy a Colt LE 6920 for $800.

Need to figure out how to buy and keep it not in city limits. Or...not tell anyone I have it in the city.

Damn, that's a good price. Chicago laws?

Yup. No assault rifles within city limits.

I actually agree with the law. I just don't want to pass up on this rifle.

I understand wanting to restrict weapon ownership, but 'assault' weapon bans shit me. Anyway, it is a really great price, do you know anyone outside the city limits?

Edit: Or a small storage shed near somewhere you like to shoot?

I'm asking my buddy if he can store it. But if his wife says no. His wife says no.

But a flash hider is the tool of Satan and leads to dozens of innocents killed hourly.

On the gun front, pretty much sold all my stuff 1911 and Mini-14 are too much to feed, BUT I did get a Colt M4-22, A Ruger New Single Six, and at the end of the week I'm getting AK-74 Polish Tantal (already fixed of Century issues by the store). Yes I know I normally hate AK's, but the Tantal and 5.45 round are really nice to shoot and cheap as hell, magazine prices suck at the moment, but that just means they're 25-35 vs 10-20 for an AK-47. Luckily my gun comes with 2 and I got 2 others for 25 via California rebuild kits (aka I had to take 2 minutes to build it again).

Man, I've been looking over loads of gun related data all day. The owner of my company has me working on a side project for him (developing a database system for archiving his weapons collection).

I must say, it is one hell of an impressive collection. He has 221 firearms at the moment (with new ones added regularly) worth upwards of $200,000 (at least that's how much he's spent). He also has entire rooms dedicated to ammunition storage. If the zombie apocalypse were to ever occur I know I'd get myself over to his house as fast as possible.

Heh, this guy has 9 of those double barrel pistols. Blew my mind when I first saw them.

Which of course you are only using it as part to repair 10 round CA legal magazines right?

I live in PA. :) I could have this if I want. :)

I may be buying a couple of these "rebuild" kits to repair some of my Ruger 10/22 stuff soon.
I got them from Solar Tactical. Had them by the end of the week and no quality issues. I did have to do one of those "Hi, can I have my tracking number" to get it shipped, but they shipped Wed vs Tuesday, so it's not a big deal.

Oh for ammo buy from SGAMMO, they are amazing! 150 shipped to PA for 1080 rounds of 5.45 in a spam can.

Damn thats crazy. I've read about SGAmmo as well but thanks for the tip! Need some cheap ammo for me Mosin.

So I'm drawing my three guns down to one. For space issues and safety issues. My daughter is only three months old, but I don't like have two rifles (revolver is a Ruger Single Six in the safe) sitting in the closet even if they are locked through the magwell and with the AK deactivated with the firing pin out. The fact that I had ammo not secured (that was being fixed regardless of this) made me think that I should deal with the issue now until waiting for it to be a direct potential problem. So I figure I'm sticking with one long-gun for storage reasons (though I don't expect to get a handgun for awhile) until I move. I loved my Ruger Mini-14, and since an AR is like a Mini-14 designed with the idea of precision in mind (well more than an AK, not to say you can be accurate with it).

Now basically I'm trading a three guns (one revolver and two long guns with mags and ammo) for this.

https://danieldefense.com/rifles/mid-length/daniel-defense-m4-carbine-v5-lw.html

The nice thing is that I'm still getting something that even if I sold the guns and gear for great prices I wouldn't be able to afford, so I'm losing no money overall and I still have a lot of trade/sell value for later.

The guy's model comes with all but the original Magpul MOE stock that he sold, but he also added this stuff on Upgrades include surefire brake, magpul front sight and bad lever, matech rear sight, vltor stock, and not pictured a magpul afg as well, has 3 pmags with it [which he said he would top off for me], two mount swivels. It doesn't include the lights and laser...I did ask lol.

Any thoughts? I'm pretty new to ARs?

The slide on my glock is rusting...what are the chances? Its two months old, cleaned after every use.
Called them up , talked to a tech and he wanted me to ship the slide on my dime without any guarantees. I hear their warranty is the best though.

That's weird for Glock. Should claim it accidentally went into auto fire....yes that did happen and Glock quietly replaced all of them. Keep in mind it wasn't now I have a Glock 18, but now my Glock is dangerously firing.

That said: Was the gun new when you bought it? Where did you get it from? What cleaning agents did you use?

Depending on the answers, I think you can call back and make a better claim for them to send you a postage paid box. Oh make sure you follow all laws and rules when shipping it back. Manuals will usually tell you what to do, but be careful not to label anything that makes it obvious what it is.

That's a sweet weapon, Manos.

I know. The best part is he said it eats anything, EVEN Wolf! I just could not imagine being able to afford a Daniel Defense gun with the three trade items. I was hoping Colt 6920/40 and would have taken it. Happy I put feel free to make other offers in the trade post!

BAD lever is convenient as hell for pressing the bolt catch with your trigger finger.

AFG, I had one, and it was nice for that specific stple of shooting as perscribed in MagPul Art of the Tactical Carbine.

I prefer the RVG, Railed Vertifical Grip, which is a stubby foregrip and I found it to be more versitle than just having the AFG.

Brand new. Bought from a local shop/range. Used Hoppes solvent and KleanBore, standard stuff.

Yeah, hence why I wanted to make sure he still kept the original grip. I will have to watch one of those Magpul Art of things one day, they look kind of fun. I like how one of the weapon training guys is like a mix Tactical Billy Mays and Dick "MOTHERFUCKING ROGUE WARRIOR" Marcinco.

Call and complain till they give you a paid postage box. That said look up to make sure that Kleanbore and Hoppes etc have never been reported in rusting of the slides.

So, the Travis Haley dude in the MagPul videos, who was the former CEO of MagPul, fended off over 1000 insurgents in Najaf, Iraq with Marines.

The 5-man Blackwater crew that was assinged to CPA Najaf were coming under heavy small arms and mortar fire, the city was being taken over by insurgents. The police stations and hospitals were taken over as well, after a day of fighting off hundreds of insurgents the city had been completely overrun, with the CPA in the heart of the city and no way out.

The Team called up to Baghdad and reported the situation, they said they needed immediate extract which Gen Sanchez also denied due to the fact the city had been overrun and there were no US troops there, only contractors.

Well, Ambassador Bremer was pissed at Sanchez and I remember being on office watch during the massive arguments! Ambassador Bremer and our Baghdad TM Leader got together and Bremer said ”I don’t want another Bridge hanging! Get those boys out of there by any means nessassary!” so 12 of us — 6 pilots and 6 gunners loaded as much as we could in 3 MD530 little birds and headed 70 miles south. we flew in the first day and blind (no comms, and no intel on the heat) to try a resupply, land find out was was going on and then head back, rearm and get ready to go again. Well that night all hell broke lose and we flew back in. Over 1000 insurgents (reported by the F18 pilots) had taken the city and now wanted the CPA after a day of intense fighting by 11 BW guys, airstrikes, a handfull of Marines and 1 sniper we were able to hold them off. After it DIED down and gunships and SF guys finally started to roll in the battle was soon over and we the CPA was saved.

That’s pretty much it in a nut in a nutshell…

You can buy this in Canada unrestricted.

Gnb0R.jpg

That looks so awesome. In this country you would have to pay for a $200 Tax Stamp for an SBS and a lengthy approval process. From what I understand in Canada, it's like buying any other non-restricted gun. For handgun's they have a barrel length requirement, but not for long arms. SBS=Short Barreled Shotgun.
