Anyone camping at gamestop for switch 2 preorder??

I've heard stories from people about Xbox 360-era midnight launches, and it sounds like it was a lot of fun being with all like-minded people who are very excited about something specific. If you're not going for that reason I can't get behind you. Also, if it's cutting into regular life stuff, just wait. You will be tired that night and be tired the next day, which don't sound like fun. "Consoom" is not just a meme.

I like thinking about the Dreamcast midnight launch but something about waiting outside toys r us for a GameCube in 2001 made me never want to do it again. The line felt so lame compared to the energy that showed up for Sega. Then I left with a Luigi game.
The Dreamcast launch was the only one I've ever camped out for and it was glorious. Still the biggest "wow" moment in my gaming life booting up Soul Caliber for the first time.

DC graphics are def the second biggest wow moment in gaming for me, #1 being SM64.

I was duped into thinking Soul Calibur wasn't a launch title for years because it didn't show up to buy until a month or so later. I didn't see it coming so it was like an aftershock after already being floored by the graphics in other games. My entire extended family of nongamers were slackjawed at Soul Calibur like it was the second coming. NOTHING is that impressive these days! Now we just pay extra hundreds of dollars in an effort to not drop the framerate below Sega Genesis rating.

The last, and only, time I ever waited outside for something was Dark Souls II. After having gone on media blackout right after the initial screenshots were revealed.

Yep No Comment GIF by GIPHY IRL

I here people thought no one would care for Switch 2 because of price.

There is crazy amount of people on my local EBgames.
To be fair, I got one with ease last night and they were up for almost an hour. I haven't been able to snag a day 1 console this easy in a very long time. Even the Series X was more difficult.

I think because this time around they made enough units unlike PS5 at launch.

Gamestop secured. Got Core system, MKW, SF6 and DK Bananza.

They got about 85 units (actually good stock numbers) with the majority being the MKW bundle. They let us in early at 10AM and I was done by 10:25AM. They also put online preorders up early too. Online stock was gone by 10:30AM.

Was about 40+ ppl in line by the time I left. Good experience overall.

That was a HUGE purchase day for me: DC system, 3 extra controllers, 2 arcade sticks, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and Mortal Kombat Gold, along with 2 or 3 VMUs. EB Games was happy to see me coming.

My GS had 44 bundles. And maybe 20 people there at open. I could've just gotten there at open but the checkout line was moving slowly with the manager stopping to take calls (ugh) and some people were bringing systems to trade in. I mean, i might trade my Series X in toward it but I'm not going to do it TODAY.

I was first in line at GameStop at 6am. The store opened at 10am. I was able to get the following:

NS2 console
NS2 pro controller
NS2 joy-con charging grip
Screen protector
Mario Kart World
NS2 versions of both Zelda games
NS2 Donkey Kong Bananza
NS2 joy-con wheels

After trade in credits from my PS5 and free PS5 pro, I used a $75 gift card and paid nothing!

Got the standard at ganestop. Only 3 left after me they opened at 12 got there at 1140. Had 34 reg 15 bundles.

A buddy went to a different one they had 30 bundles and 50 reg so i guess theyre all different. 1 per customer which i thought was nice.

I'm confused. I managed to pre-order one without any issue in my country. Are scalpers that big of a problem in America or is this because the pre-ordering got delayed.

Good ole EB, that's where I got mine from. I bought all of those games as well as NFL 2K and I think Power Stone…not sure if that was a launch title. Great memories.

went in at 7am this morning for a store that opened at 10am. There was already one other person, we started chatting and then 5-6 other people showed up so it made time fly by quickly by the time it was 9:45 we were about 35-40 in line. Overall it wasn't a bad experience.

A new console releases every 7-8 years now so it's okay to be excited for something and want it day 1.

I got the day off with pay. There will be less urgency on June 5th, when I can just casually stroll up and pick up my purchase. Today was the day for ACTION.
Oh ok, that makes sense, I didn't read OP but I thought the thread was about camping until the console comes out lol.

I should do the same for release day...

Edit: REALLY I absolutely missed even thread title lol, I was thinking about those ppl camping in front of stores waiting for release date lol.

Nintendo has produced a fuckton of machines, so there are stuff to find if you can find the right store. Especially outside of America where people aren't so extreme with pre-orders. But that won't last long.

Oh wait, what? I was confused cause I thought this was about camping out to actually get the system, not for just pre-ordering it... lol wtf, pre-order camping? Holy shit that is cringe.

I drove by the GS near me about 8:30am this morning.

I guess 15-20 in line. I could have gotten in line and hit a pre-order but then decided.

Just no.

I only checked it out as I was going in that direction anyways.

Given the cost if the hardware, high game and accessory prices, the decision was pretty easy.

Maybe at some point, but not now.

Whoever did get a pre-order, congrats and enjoy it when the day comes.

Walked in at my local gamestop to pick up expedition 33 today at noon, 2 hours had passed since the store pre-orders started and no one else was around and half the bundles were still available. The stock is good at least
