I have a relative who has been taking Propecia for years but I've never asked him how much it costs. I've also heard it lowers a male's sperm count but not sure if this is true.

Oh God! Your name is "suave eric"! I always read it like some dumb fantasy name.

It's a secret to everyone :) I've actually been using this screen name for more then 10 years now, which is crazy to think about.

Anyway, to anyone who is worried about losing hair, I would go talk to your doctor and/or dermatologist about it. They have to prescribe the drug to you anyway, so there's no getting out of it.

Seriously brocke, I dunno why you are so depressed about. I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but you are not a bad looking guy.

The only thing is does other than slow down a certain hormone from forming is it also seems to shrink your prostate a little bit, which is actually a good thing. It was originally a drug they were testing to help stop prostate cancer and it looks like it may still help in that reguard.

The cost is substantial. The cheapest I found is in at Costco's pharmacy, and it still costs me about $55 per 30 pills. Other places were charging way more than that. The only other thing I didn't try was by mail order, which I hear can save a ton on any kind of drug.

Well I have workout supplements that cost just as much if not more. I suppose it depends on how many pills you have to take daily that will ulitmately determine the real price....

It's just one a day. And they are little suckers! Once I lost one down the sink drain and I was pissed

I'm not showing any signs of balding yet and I'll be 25 next week, but the thought of losing my hair terrifies me. In fact, I'll probably end up losing it due to the stress of worrying about losing it.

Man!

That looks HEAPS better. Seriously. Now, you need to dress nicer and you're ready to go. Hell, I think glasses would suit you... Go for that trendy, dorky, intellect-type look. It will r0x your life.

Anyway, I'm beginning to receed also, it's the worst thing in the world. I hope to become rich so I can get those advanced treatments (although, I'm sure theyre just awesome hairplugs and what not).

This was me until 25 (last July) so hopefully you'll experience a philosophical change soon. :)

Personally I just wanted my hair to last through my wedding and hopefully my graduation. Married last summer, graduated this month, so I've got both under the belt. And I've got a baby on the way, I figure it's time to stop worrying about it. :D

That said I have a bit of a widow's peak and I suppose my hair is a little thinner than it was in high school but not really noticeable. No dreaded bald spot...if that happens the hair will probably all go

Wow some people are really girls about their hair and it thinning...tons of older men have their hair thinning and are balding, it's a fact of life and your going to have to deal with it.

Not yet, but I'm under the impression that you get your hair from your mother's side. If this is true it's only a matter of time. My dad and his brother have a full head of hair at 50 & 60. All male relatives from my mother's side have been bald by the age of 30 to 40.

Nah, that's an old wive's tale.

I sometimes consider shaving it off. I still have a decent amount of hair. All my friends have their heads shaved, which is somewhat surprising. But I just don't care for that look too much. I only really consider making a move like this when the heat is unbearable.

My hairline is receding but it doesn't look too bad yet. Everyone in my family thinks I'm crazy for thinking I'm going bald. I don't think it's in my head though. My hairline very clearly is traveling up.

Looks familiar.

Holy crap! They actually stole my avatar and blew it up. You can tell it's mine because of where I scraped the original advertisement (it's from a Korean ad) logo on the bottom left corner with photoshop. It's not noticeable in a small avatar but really out there when it's blown up so huge.

Those jerks.

I started balding about 6 years ago or so, shaved it on and off for a few years, and was really depressed about it, but eventually got over it... I use a generic Rogaine spray now, and it works, sure I don't have anywhere near as much hair on my head as I'd like, but at least I'm confident about it and I found a way to style it that makes it look decent... I have to regularly go to the barber to shorten the sides or my hair will look awful and I'll get depressed about it and start thinking of shaving it again... Then I go to the barber, and it's all good again, for the next 2 weeks at least.

I started balding around the age of 20, right in the center at the back of my head. I was really paranoid about it for a while, but I don't give a crap now. I shave it every once in a while, when it starts sticking up in a weird way in the mornings. I'm sure my wife wishes I gave more of a shit about my appearance though, and shave it more often. Maybe I should. She wants to shave hers off, though, which I'm not exactly thrilled about.

Male Pattern Baldness is a recessive gene I think. It's not just from the mother's side, you need to have both genes on the same allele to get it. So both parents may have thick hair but if they both have the MPB gene recessive, you could be born with it dominant and be the first person in your family to go bald.

Don't you typically get your propensity for baldness from your mother's father? If so, I'm set for life. My grandpa had a thick head of hair until the day he died (he was like 90). I'm 27 and no signs of hair loss for me at all, though I have noticed one or two grays.

That can't be true, because my grandfather (mother's dad) had a head full of hair till the day he died, so do all my uncles (mom's brothers), but I'm bald, so is my brother and my father.

I've been since I was 17. Its not the normal 'hair falls back' as its just thinning out to the point of seeing my scalp no matter what I do with the hair. It sucks.

To the OP: It's easy for us to say, but it definately bothers and annoys you much more so than anyone else. That's natural, though.

I think in general the "short but balding" look is better on most people than flat out shaved. Bald by razor is a hard look to pull off, because most people have wonky shaped heads.

Anyways I'm one hairy effer. My great grandmother has a head full of hair and she's 90, and my mom has breast cancer and went through kemo and still kept a full head of hair. I have nothing to worry about ever.

But you skipped a generation there; it could be your grandmother that has the balding curse....

Don't mind me, just instilling teh phear.

Yup, just last year. Nobody would believe, but I saw it right from the start.

Where can i find some of this propecia stuff?

I think dude looks better WITH hair, but whatever.

P.S. You always look really shiny in your pictures, like you just walked out of a sauna. wtf.

I am. First noticed it around 18 and now at 26 I couldn't give a shit. Granted it's slowed down more than I thought it would.

Orgazmo! :lol

But yeah, alot of my guy friends are starting to bald and most are only in their early 20's. Which is really a shame, I love hair. :( Though you can always invest in a unit I suppose. :lol

My hairline has receded a bit. I'm probably freaking out over it more than I should, but I may just start propecia soon just to keep it from getting any worse. Plus a lot of people do notice a bit of regrowth from using propecia. It doesn't just stop your hairloss but thickens up areas that have thinned out. I have read a lot about all sorts of side-effects, though, including everything from shedding that won't stop to back acne and bitch tits. Supposedly only happens to a low percentage of people though, but still.

That said, has anyone heard about the research in hair-cloning? I can't remember what else it's called, but it's something at least a couple companies are working on that actually regrows real hair on slick-bald spots, and because of the nature of the procedure it should be a lot cheaper than current hair transplants. I've heard it could be available in just a couple years, although that may be stretching it. If it's as good as they're saying it is, it could be a true miracle cure for baldness. Not that I need it.....now.....but it'd be nice to know that I have that option in the future if I ever have some massive bald spot on the back of my head like my dad. *shudders*

well look at it this way...you can save money on haircuts. I use so much gel and shit in my hait it's bound to fallout someday.

Was it Waychel who had that huge forehead?
(don't sue me)
