Anyone else finding it hard to get into a game after Elden Ring?

Completed every achievement and multiple endings in ER. Now they the grind is basically down I've been having a hard time getting into other games. I tried returnal, one piece world seeker (idk why) , subnautica and cyberpunk but no game really seems to hold my interest after ER. Anyone else having that problem?

Yea pretty much. What's worse is that I don't feel like finishing Elden Ring again for a 4th time. So I'm just focusing on GAAS games. Valorant, Warzone, Apex, checking out the new Star Citizen patch release. I even went back recently and downloaded MGS:V for Steam...couldn't sit through the first mission.

Literally only been playing Halo infinite multiplayer mode and Eden ring invasions currently. I'm sure Starfield will recapture my attention but rn nothing else really doing it.

I agree. I went in hard on Elden Ring. I got the Platinum. Now everything sorta feels meh. I don't like to look at the popular social media feeds cause it just feels like forced hype. I don't feel like talking about the negative stuff about Elden Ring because why? why bring me down?

No joke. I loved the game. I started a couple more games, but I'm not as engaged. I can't remember the last time I engaged with people online and offline about a game.

I can't say this was just hype because I experienced the enjoyment of the game hands on. I plan to buy some arcade games and hopefully play a JRPG, but as far as engaging myself in a world - I'm kinda worried this is as good as it's going to get for a very long time.

I had to switch to an entirely different genre (Triangle Strategy) to get back into the grove, yea. After Elden Ring I would dive into other adventure games but kept losing interest and returning to work on my characters. Going with a strat game finally shook me out of it.

I still have it installed on my desktop, Deck, and PS5 though...... that beckoning siren......

Yep, nothing else manages to capture that feeling of awe and wonder as you explore this totally unknown world at the moment.

Felt like that after falling in love with Dark Souls. Loved most my time with Elden Ring, but was happy to move on afterwards.

Playing through Xenoblade Chronicles again with the Definitive Edition and having a blast.

This always happens to me when I play a great game. It's not really a problem, just drop the other games that aren't as great and go some other great games even if they are older or go do something else. Mediocre games aren't really worth anyone's time.

I'm playing Stranger of Paradise on the heels of Elden Ring. I'm actually enjoying SoP much more. The combat is just balanced better, and I really didn't enjoy the exploring in Elden Ring.

Yeah although GT7 scratches that it's and recently DMC5 due to combi switching between weapons.

Nothing come close to Er's immersion. I have faint hope for BotW2 =(

I've never gotten into a scenario where I didn't have thousands of other games I want to play just waiting for me to finish what I'm currently enjoying. There are so many awesome games out there in so many different genres. I'm constantly surprised with how many games I didn't give a second thought in the past are super fun to play.

This thread is the epitome of a hyperbole statement... "oh no, I can't enjoy other games anymore because I played x game now" ... that's it sir, your gaming has now peaked, it will never get better from here...

... because my gaming peaked at Knack 2. There will never be anything enjoyable ever again or as satisying ... so I know, how you feel. Even Elden Ring was a flop in my heart to that GOTG.

*sigh*

No! I LOOOVE Elden Ring but they are experience I want Elden Ring can't give me. I play variety of games and each give me different type of satisfaction.

Yes, it sucks because I was kinda of finally "getting" rdr2 but them Elden ring launched and I can't bring myself back to rdr2

I think that would be the case if I tried to play something similar but Diablo 2 Resurrected with mods has been fun recently.

I actually took a 2 week break from it to play the night map playlist on Insurgency. Went back to playing it now.

I don't think it has ruined other games I like, but it has exposed how bad other open world and action games are.

kinda the opposite, ER is so full of jank, ugly designs, and lack of narrative substance it's made me appreciate the little things other games do so much better.

Not Elden Ring, but I did feel this for a while with Sekiro. It won't last long, OP. Go get some fresh air and then get back to Returnal.

Playing Returnal rn. Imma brute force my way through it. I'm sure I'll fall in love with the gameplay loop. If not I'll just collect all the achievements for DS 1-3 & Sekiro lol.

I'm the opposite, I love Elden Ring yes but I haven't beaten it and I'm struggling to get myself to play it. Once I start playing its awesome, but getting to the point of booting up the game has been hard for me recently.

Been bouncing between old games instead.

Not at all.
In fact, it's even easier.

But after playing a certain genre, I usually get burned out and take a vacation.
Anywhere from a week to several months.

I was able to play Tiny Tina's Wonderlands after, but haven't been able to touch a game for more than an hour or so without losing interest since.

Always happens to me after a finish a game I really like.
Yeah if I finish a game I was deeply invested into it always takes a week or 2 to settle on a new game. I find myself jumping in between games trying to figure out what I want to play next.

Eventually something grabs me.

Yes. It's difficult to express, but everything feels fake or pointless. Modern games feel like everything is already done for me and I'm not actually accomplishing anything.

Yes, I'm in my 4th playthrough on ER. I have horizon but I can't get into it. I played a little Stanley parable, but always get pull back to the Lands between lol.

Than Elden Ring?

One hasn't been made yet.
I'm going to have to hard disagree.

There have been a bunch of games better than it. (But it's subjective)

I don't even know if it would make my top 10 (going to have to see where the final balance changes lie, as they keep buffing and nerfing stuff)

I've experienced this a few different times across multiple console gens and different games though.

I remember taking a break and then playing another genre before attempting to get serious with another one. Once in a while that perfect to you game comes along and does this. They csnt all be that game though.

Tbh I'm the opposite I found it hard to get into Elden Ring because it plays like every other Souls Game and I've been there before so I'm finishing up Ghosts of Tsushima now and will probably hop into Horizon afterwards. Hell I'm more motivated to play Switch Sports and Lego Star Wars than Elden Ring. Don't get me wrong I loved Dark and Demon's Souls but I don't need to experience that over and over. I know it's great I just need a break from Souls.

Same, and I don't think I will enjoy a From game without the open world aspect... I keep going back but I have no interest in starting a NG+

I forced myself to play something next, picked Judgment. Refreshing for its quests and story. But the exploration (is that the 8th game with the exact same city block?) and fights suck. I used to love these games...

I was still playing Valhalla (maybe 70% in?) when I fell into the ER hype, I can't to go back to AC now.

same for me, but not for the reason some of you are stating.

I was so mentally drained after playing the game for almost 200 hours and the game was a slog near the end where im just tired of gaming for a bit.

not because it was good but because it was too long.

After 180hrs with it playing solo and with friends, I got a little burned out but it was fun.

Picked up another game right away though, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous and settling in to it.

I did browse my backlog for a bit and played some old Total War and Caesar 4 for a little bit.
