It makes sense to start taking Xbox preorders as E3 is only 6 weeks away.
Still EB is getting carried away with preorders. I wouldn't be surprised if they started taking preorders on PS4 and PS5 before the end of the year to boost their annual earnings.
It's Electronics Boutique. If Kaz has a cold, they take pre-orders for his tissues. Anyway, don't believe them. Ever. EVER. They'll tell you, straight to your face, that if you don't pre-order, you'll never get one on the launch day. A few EBs around me actually printed signs that said people who didn't pre-order were screwed until the rather nebulous "second shipment date."
It's a load, a big one, and I'm seriously considering starting some kind of pool on when they finally irritate a lawyer with a happy class-action trigger finger.
I'll be hitting Walmart again for the XBox 360 launch. MS ships one million at launch like rumored and they definitely won't sell out on the first day.
I live right around there too and noticed the sign as well. I asked one of the clerks specifically, "how do I know $20 will guarantee it and you won't pull the same bullshit as with the PS2 launch?" I forget the exact answer, but it was jibberish. No way in hell I pre-order a console from an EB walk-in store again. Online or nothing.
