Like others here I got used to them and don't even notice them unless I go out of my way to try to see them.
Same. I do not notice them unless I deliberately look for them.

At least here, you can buy pills of the pineapple enzyme (bromelain) In pharmacies, it's sold as a mild anti inflammatory, and it is used to treat bruises because it breaks down blood clots (but pineapples aren't very expensive here, so I might start to eat them regularly).Brother, I got em about three years ago, and I thought I was dying or something lol. Yeah, they suck man, but it's just part of life now for me. I would have been about 35 when I got em I suppose, and I absolutely hate em, but I've learned to accept them. My wife has em too. We recently did a family trip down to Florida, and I must say that they didn't bother me much there for some reason, but here in Maine they drive me crazy I winter as they're very obvious against the backdrop of all the snow.
I read a study a couple years ago that established a correlation, not causation mind you, with pineapple consumption and a reduction in perceptible floaters, but I tried and didn't get any benefit, probably because pineapple is just too fuckin expensive to buy like that all the time here. It's due to the enzymes in pineapples apparently, and believe it or not the study wasn't horse shit, but it was a small sample size and I'd really want to see more studies on it, but several people did note a decrease in perceptible floaters if they ate what I found to frankly be an absurd amount of pineapple every day. I can't remember the exact figure, but it was nuts and I couldn't keep up with it lol, but hey, if you like pineapple, maybe search up that study and see if it's fairly priced in your area, and if you can stomach mind boggling amounts of it every day for years and get back to us, we might get somewhere here. If it works for you, I will absolutely start spending silly amounts of money on pineapples, as I would pay quite a lot to fix this.
You may want to actually follow up with an eye doctor, floaters shouldn't be dark enough to be able to be described as "a literal black dot", also appearing and disappearing suddenly could be a symptom of a bigger problem.but a literal black dot appeared in my vision (it was like a floater stuck in place). It happened twice in one week.... scared me.
I'm gonna see if my local Walgreens carries that man. I feel silly for not trying that route in the first place, as I'm certain that's far cheaper than buying two to three pineapples each week. I've had them since I remember being alive lol. Most of the time I forget about them, but if I'm in a very bright room, they are very noticeable. Mine are alive, they keep changing shape lol
I can anecdotally confirm this to be true.Anyone who is of average GAF age demographic and "doesn't have floaters" is probably also a 30hz enjoyer.
Well on account of your avatar....I have a tall one and a fat one, I call them Laurel and Hardy. Had them for easily over 5 years. Pineapple does nothing!

I've had them since I was a little kid. On boring days I'd try to "catch" them, frustrated at how elusive they were.I'm 50. I've had floaters since my early twenties.
Never really gave it a single thought in my 39 years, but now that you mention it, I can see random strings floating around. Nothing that obscures my view.
So, this isn't normal then ?
