Anyone here have eye floaters?

Brother, I got em about three years ago, and I thought I was dying or something lol. Yeah, they suck man, but it's just part of life now for me. I would have been about 35 when I got em I suppose, and I absolutely hate em, but I've learned to accept them. My wife has em too. We recently did a family trip down to Florida, and I must say that they didn't bother me much there for some reason, but here in Maine they drive me crazy I winter as they're very obvious against the backdrop of all the snow.

I read a study a couple years ago that established a correlation, not causation mind you, with pineapple consumption and a reduction in perceptible floaters, but I tried and didn't get any benefit, probably because pineapple is just too fuckin expensive to buy like that all the time here. It's due to the enzymes in pineapples apparently, and believe it or not the study wasn't horse shit, but it was a small sample size and I'd really want to see more studies on it, but several people did note a decrease in perceptible floaters if they ate what I found to frankly be an absurd amount of pineapple every day. I can't remember the exact figure, but it was nuts and I couldn't keep up with it lol, but hey, if you like pineapple, maybe search up that study and see if it's fairly priced in your area, and if you can stomach mind boggling amounts of it every day for years and get back to us, we might get somewhere here. If it works for you, I will absolutely start spending silly amounts of money on pineapples, as I would pay quite a lot to fix this.

At least here, you can buy pills of the pineapple enzyme (bromelain) In pharmacies, it's sold as a mild anti inflammatory, and it is used to treat bruises because it breaks down blood clots (but pineapples aren't very expensive here, so I might start to eat them regularly).

Yep, a lot. I don't know what happened several months ago (maybe dry eye drops? 🤷🏼‍♂️), but a literal black dot appeared in my vision (it was like a floater stuck in place). It happened twice in one week.... scared me 😱. I reduced the amount of eye drops I use and started cleaning my eyes with warm chamomile tea . Since then, it hasn't happened again.

I get them, but I'm used to them and they don't really bother me. I do have an unexplained scar on the back of my right eye but luckily it doesn't affect my vision.

You may want to actually follow up with an eye doctor, floaters shouldn't be dark enough to be able to be described as "a literal black dot", also appearing and disappearing suddenly could be a symptom of a bigger problem.
It could also be nothing, but it wouldn't hurt to be sure.

I'm gonna see if my local Walgreens carries that man. I feel silly for not trying that route in the first place, as I'm certain that's far cheaper than buying two to three pineapples each week. Thanks for this suggestion brother.

I've had them since I remember being alive lol. Most of the time I forget about them, but if I'm in a very bright room, they are very noticeable. Mine are alive, they keep changing shape lol

yes, nearly everyone has floaters. we are imperfect machines, and one of these imperfections are small collagen clumps/strands that float inside our eyeballs.

anyone who doesn't have floaters is probably among a less than 1% group of people... or they haven't noticed them yet lol.

I use to because I was wearing contacts to much. So I switched back to glasses. My contacts were depriving my eyes of oxygen so my blood vessels have built up creating floaters.

I have a tall one and a fat one, I call them Laurel and Hardy. Had them for easily over 5 years. Pineapple does nothing!
Well on account of your avatar....

Yeah in the eyefloaters subreddit everyone sees the pineapple thing is a scam.

Some people say as well that reducing sugar can help, but honestly I've been on a diet now for 4 months ( Trying to get to 10% body fat) and I barely eat sugar, maybe 20-25gr. Per day max so I dont think that is doing anything either

My only hope at this point is that they find a definitive cure in the upcoming years.

I really hate these floaters man

They're like ringing in the ears for me. I only notice them when I am thinking about them, or I am very tired and look at the bright sky. Right now I see them floating around with my computer screen, but that's because this thread popped up.

Never really noticed, or gave it a single thought in my 39 years, but now that you mention it, I can see random strings floating around. Nothing that obscures my view.

So, this isn't normal then ?

Well, I never heard about it before this thread lol. Im looking at the bright sky right now and cant see any worms. Thank God.

I hear pineapple works. Cut yourself two fresh slices per day, should be enough. You can try that for a few months. Cheap and easy treatment if it works.

I've had them for my entire life.
I ignore them, but once in a while I will swat at a bug that isn't actually there because it looked like a fruit fly came at me.

It's the gel like substance in your eye partly clumping up. Yeah not the best choice of words. Unless it get really bad its no big deal.
